This renovated holiday home, formerly a barn, is on two levels with all bedroom and bathroom accommodation on the first floor, whilst the open plan living area has direct access to the gardens. Two double-bedded rooms with en-suite showers and a twin-bedded room with family bathroom. Ideal for families and groups of adults alike.
Established over 20 years ago, the property is in a small hamlet just 2.5 kms from the village of Loubès-Bernac. The village has a small supermarket open every morning for fresh bread, etc., and a restaurant with delicious food, open most days and very popular at lunchtimes.
The highlights of our summer – weather apart – are the night food markets. Large gatherings in Eymet on Tuesdays, Monsegur on Wednesdays and Duras on Thursdays. There are others too many to mention here – but SUNDAY lunchtime in Soumensac during July and August is a must. Buy locally produced food and wine and sit under the lime trees with views across to the Pyrenees (you CAN see them, but only occasionally).
And, the highlight of any holiday in this part of Aquitaine is the Bataille de Castillone - a must see. Friday and Saturday nights - son et lumiere - action with a cast of hundreds. Great for all ages. https://www.batailledecastillon.com/index_uk.html
New for 20210
ovid 19 has affected everyone around the world. For many it has been devasting, with loss of friends and family, liberty and opportunities.
For some it has been a time for reflection. A time to seek alternative paths in life.
Here in rural France, little changed apart from the brief total lockdown. Of course we miss the restaurants and social gatherings which form so much of our lives here.
I for one, discovered a talent I didn’t know I had when I started painting canvases in March 2020. Now my summer visitors will be surrounded by the numerous paintings I have done and which I am now exhibiting in the gite when there is no one renting. You can see Art@AuCompte here artpal.com/alisonwright to get a flavour.
I have also converted the smaller of the two swimming pools into a wildlife pond and will be planting water lilies and other aquatic plants this spring and introducing carp etc later in the year.
