Secluded Rustic + Modern Log Cabin with hot tub by Stream, luxury getaway

Walnut Creek Cabin, formerly known as the Rustic Retreat, is a secluded log cabin on a private stream located in the heart of the Driftless Area. The cabin has recently been renovated to welcome guests into a modern + rustic luxury getaway. The rustic details of the original log cabin have been preserved and reimagined to include an attractive modern design.

During your stay, the serene landscapes of rolling hills, bubbling brooks and wildlife invite you to explore the 10 acres of land with nature walks or while sitting in the hot tub. There is also an outdoor fire pit, screened-in porch, and an indoor gas fireplace to make this your dream retreat. Experience nature and simple living without forgoing all the amenities.

The cabin is located close to the scenic Mississippi River where you can enjoy water sports, fish, and watch spectacular sunsets. Nearby is the Rush Creek State Nature Preserve and also the Villa Louis in historic Prairie Du Chien. During wintertime, enjoy cross county skiing and snowmobiling.

The Space:
You will have access to the entire log cabin, which is located in Ferryville, WI. There is a private bedroom on the main level with a full bed and access to the washer/dryer in the closet. The upstairs loft has a queen bed, complete with a Saatva luxury mattress made with eco-responsible materials. There is also a daybed couch, that can convert into a queen-sized bed, and additional seating areas upstairs in the loft. The cabin is fully furnished and also offers Wi-Fi, cable TV and a land line (if you choose to use!) to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Cozy little cabin, nice hot tub, cute patio area. Cool hearing coyotes and owls at night. Couch was great for some much needed afternoon naps! Host communicated all necessary info in a timely manner.It was odd having no cabinet space for food and there were too many bugs indoors- but we made it work between counter space and a broom.Overall it was still a nice stay. Thank you.

Everything was perfect. Management was very responsive when the hot tub wouldn't go above 99 degrees (it had gone into sleep mode). Very clean, very secluded. Just what we needed to recharge.

We had an absolutely amazing time! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and we didnt lack for anything. There's been obvious thought put into covering anything that people may want while visiting. The area is so peaceful! Beautiful grounds, the firepit was perfect, and you can't go wrong with a hot tub! We will definitely be back!

Elegant little cabin

Really enjoyed this cabin. Well equipped, cozy and beautiful. Stairs are steep (not a problem for us but could be a concern for some). Only issue was hot tub wasn't working fully - owner was aware and thought it had been fixed but wasn't.

Beautiful property in secluded Wisconsin woods. Everything was clean and well-appointed when we arrived. We did reach out to property management about some damages noticed upon arrival and got a response the next day via email. No cell service but a landline phone was installed on the property. Overall an excellent experience!

Stunningly beautiful cabin, inside and out. And very peaceful. We heard a total of three cars go by over the entire weekend. It allowed us to hear the birds, the geese, the bees, the frogs, and all of nature. The entire area feels like you're in the Appalachians. If you plan to stay here in summer, I'd suggest bringing a pop-up screen tent to set up in the lower yard to escape the bugs, plus a wagon to bring supplies down to save yourself a few trips. Thankfully we happened to bring both with us and it worked perfectly. If not, the screen porch on the cabin is amazing! We'd stay here again without question!

Sweet spot for a get away

Isolation.. in a good way!

Very professional from start to finish. The cabin was definitely out “in the sticks”, so pack what you need for food. We enjoyed the isolation. There are some steep stairs - but they had baby gates and a main floor bathroom and bedroom. We enjoyed exploring and spending time in silence!

Perfect anniversary retreat

My fiancée and I decided for our 5 year anniversary to do a cabin getaway. After searching through many different options and all of them blending together, we found Knutson properties which checked off every single box we had. The property was beautifully kept, quiet, modern, and they thought of every last design detail when putting this place together. All weekend we talked about when we could make time to take another trip to stay here. Cant recommend it enough!

Great relaxing getaway

Really enjoyed our week at the cabin. Big plus that we could bring our dog. Very relaxing, enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. The cabin had everything we needed to be comfortable. Beds were comfy. We definitely go back!

Girls quiet weekend with dogs

We were so excited to find a place for a relaxing and quiet girls weekend that allowed dogs and was in a secluded spot and surrounded by nature. This cabin had all of the wonderful amenities, but had the rustic charm of being in the woods. The hot tub was the added bonus, the fire pit was perfect for smores, the flower beds allowed us to watch the humming birds and butterflies as we drank coffee and we had every meal on the screened in porch. Everything was absolutely perfect, comfortable and clean. The only problem is we wish we would have booked many more nights because we didn't want to leave. My dogs loves running around the property and exploring the creek. We will definitely be coming back!

How our business started.. In 1994 Eric started a small "part time" lawn mowing business for extra money that would eventually turn into much more and a full time career and a family owned company. In 1998 we were asked to manage a Vacation Home and being totally truthful... we had no idea of what we were dong and how fast we would learn. After having a terrible experience Renting a Vacation Rental in Northern Wis. I knew what my future would hold in the Property Management business. It was 3 simple things. 1) Be True and Honest to your Guests, 2) Treat our Guests the way I personally would want to be treated 3) Provide 5 star "Clean" accommodations and be better then the rest! After 20 plus years, KPS has several repeat guests and so many friend ships have been made. Till this day we still hold true to our 3 step system. We hope someday you can come enjoy one of our vacation homes or cabins. We are very proud of our Vacation Properties and the business we have created.
