Bay Cottage is an ideal base for a seaside holiday in Looe, Cornwall. The beaches of Plaidy and Millendreath are both withing a short walk and it is only a mile from Looe town centre. The walk long the stunning South West coastal footpath in to Looe takes about 20 minutes or it is a 5 minute drive in the car.
This beautiful little cottage is well equipped and deceptively spacious and provides very comfortable accommodation for up to five people. The ground floor has an open plan living/dining area/kitchen, the kitchen being well equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. Upstairs are the double bedroom, the twin bedroom, a single bedroom and the bathroom. All furnishings and fixtures are of a high standard, there is free Wifi and a pleasant patio area at the front of the cottage is just the perfect place to enjoy a drink or a barbecue on a summers evening. Pros: The cottage was just as cute and cosy as the pictures. It was bright and clean, everything set up and ready for us when we arrived. You’ve got a gorgeous view of the water from the front bedrooms and it’s quiet as a church mouse in the area almost all the time. The locals are wonderful, people say hello as you’re walking the area, you won’t feel like a stranger at all. There are two great little beaches, one pebble and one sandy very nearby but see cons below for accessibility.Cons (sort of): We were not expecting the drive to the cottage to be quite as steep as it was, coming out of the area to go do anything was quite hard on my old car and my old bones, but its Cornwall, and directly on the coast, this was something I should have expected. I would not recommend if you are disabled or non-ambulatory and not already planning to drive to amenities. The locals navigate the steep hills and many steps with an ease I’m envious of but you certainly will not. Take a more able bodied person with you to insure you get to fully enjoy what the area has to offer. I don’t regret a single one of the trips I made up and down to those beaches but I’m glad I had someone with me for sure. My struggle is on me for not being more prepared but it’s worth being mentioned if you’re expecting a leisurely walk to the local beaches while staying here. Be realistic with what you can physically do. I’d love to stay here again.. after some cardio training of course.

Stunning location. Parking and entry easy. The house was lovely. I would say to help others going to take your own dishwasher tabs, washing powder and toilet roll. On arrival, there was only one toilet roll and 3 dishwasher tabs. I thought this was a bit tight for approx 200 per night for family use. There is also little drying space for wetsuits etc., so we used the table and chairs out the front. Looked messy but didnt want to bring the wet gear inside. But all in all, the location for getting to the local beach is superb. Looe is lush and we had such a lovely holiday.

Die Unterkunft war wie beschrieben und sehr sauber. Es war alles Notwendige vorhanden wir konnten die Küche ausgiebig nutzen. Die Nähe zum Strand war toll. Wissenswert: Der Parkplatz ist nahe aber über mehrere Stufen erreichbar. Man kann zum Ent- und Beladen bis fast vor die Haustür fahren. Es ist eine Waschmaschine vorhanden die auch gleichzeitig als Trockner fungiert. Das Trocknen funktioniert nur effizient mit reduzierter Wäschemenge, die Trocknungsmöglichkeiten an der Luft sind recht eingeschränkt. Leider war trotz ständigem Lüften die Luft im Erdgeschoss etwas muffig, was der Wohnqualität aber keinen Abbruch tat.Hervorheben möchte ich den tollen Service der Vermietagentur: Wir hatte in unserem Urlaub große Probleme mit unserem Auto. Cornish Collection hat uns sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend unterstützt einige Probleme zu beheben. Vielen Dank noch mal!

Perfect location

Brilliant location but cottage is tired and needs updating. Clean and tidy, beds comfy but need black out blinds or curtains and the shower needs changing. Sofas are stained and need replacing. Kitchen has everything you need and more!! No outside sitting area apart from front door small table and chairs. The cottages either side look much more appealing. We would stay again but it would need some changes.

Many thanks for your review. We will pass your feedback to the owners reference the possibility of black out blinds and also to look at the shower, we have not had any previous complaints about the shower but will investigate what needs doing. The owners have actually bought new sofas which they were due to come down and take delivery of during what became the lockdown period. They are awaiting a new delivery date but hoping for later in September or October at the latest. We are delighted that you found the cottage clean and tidy and the beds comfortable and hope you enjoyed your time in Looe.

Lovely quiet area with a beach few minutes walk. Cottage nice but needs a little TLC

We were lucky to visit Cornwall during the June heatwave hitting 30 degrees some days. The location of the cottage is lovely in a very quiet area and just a 5 min short walk to Millendreath Beach with a lovely beach bar, cafe and water sport hire. We came to the beach mostly at the end of the day, after exploring the area, to eat in the cafe (highly recommend) or just have a drink and watch the sun setting. A picturesque 25 min cliff top walk took you into Looe or a short drive away if you prefer. The cottage is nice with a lovely renovated modern kitchen. However the upstairs is a little dated and with 80’s pine furniture and thin nylon curtains and peeling paint in places. The outside back area which forms the view from the back door, the kitchen and the main bedroom window was disappointing a really neglected steep sloping area where grass and weeds have just been left to go wild. The front of the cottage is well maintained but unfortunately we couldn’t sit on the patio area due to the old wooden patio set!! The weather was amazing and we would have loved to have been able to sit out comfortably. Fortunately my sister was staying at Rose Cottage next door, we paid the same for the week and we couldn’t believe the difference. The cottage was much bigger better decorated and had an amazing landscaped tiered decking area at the back with 2 patio areas to sit out with lovely views and a 3rd at the front). Bay Cottage is ok in a lovely area but in need of a little TLC and the attention of a good garden designer!! I advise taking a look at Rose Cottage next door before booking. However we did have a lovely week and it is a nice cottage.

Urlaub in einem netten kleinen Cottage

Nett, sehr sauber, gut ausgestattet. Eine schöne Sitzgelegenheit vor dem Haus, allerdings keine dahinter ;-) Abzüge muss man leider für das Badezimmer machen. Recht klein, sehr einfach, sehr wenig Ablagemöglichkeiten und das warme Wasser tröpfelt leider nur aus dem Duschkopf. Auch fanden während unseres Aufenthaltes Bauarbeiten auf dem Nachbargrundstück statt (Luftlinie 5m von der Terrasse entfernt). Zwar scheinen englische Bauarbeiter ein wenig später mit der Arbeit anzufangen, aber sie fangen an - und brauchen dafür die üblichen Maschinen ;-)

we had a great time in the bay cottage better than ecspect we always stay in a b&b but tis is much better a nice place too stay lovely view really a nice place and close to the town center and harbor because we love the to fish and had a great catch and lovely neigbers we still have contact we will come back next year thanks for the corect service many thanks greetings Dirk

Gemütliches und komfortables Cottage

Sehr schönes Cottage, nur wenige Schritte zur Küste und gut ausgestattet. Wir konnten das Meer rauschen hören und vom Garten aus sehen. Es war ausserdem angenehm ruhig. Wir würden es wieder buchen.

Bay Cottage, near Looe

Bay cottage is very well equipped with 2 parking bays (only 1 bathroom not 2 as detailed), I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful location close to Looe (Car required). The WI-FI is an added bonus, but no mobile phone reception (orange) which could prove a problem to some people, also no land line, so if you need to be in continuous contact with the outside world perhaps this is not the ideal place for you. However, in my opinion the lack of phone reception was easily compensated by the properties other facilities.
