Welcome to Cooper's Cottage at beautiful Barren River Lake, Kentucky. This beautiful cottage is a single family residence with a second-story breakfast nook and deck. Our lakehouse cottage offers breathtaking views of the water, a location merely two miles from Bailey's Point campground, dock, and recreation area; as well as being convenient to Barren River State Park.

The cottage is a three bedroom, two bath home, with a full sized kitchen. Everything to make your vacation easy and economical. The house sports two queen-size beds, and a full bed. The house is approximately 1500 square feet so it provides plenty of room for a family or couples looking to share a vacation rental. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, microwave, stove, and a refrigerator. There is also a full sized washer (HE) and dryer for your convenience.

Please note that the layout of the house is such that bedroom 3 is only accessible by walking through bedroom 2. Bedroom 2 is both a bedroom and a "hallway" for the access to bedroom 3. These 2 bedrooms share the 2nd bathroom. Typically, this is not a problem for families that share our lakehouse, however, I do want to mention it here, as it could be a potential problem.

We request a minimum of a two night stay and a three night stay on holiday weekends. Minimum rental age of 25. No Smoking, No Illegal Substances Allowed.

Close to hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, wild-life viewing, swimming, water-skiing, knee-boarding, wake-boarding, jet-skiing, tubing, and boating. Bailey's Point a short two mile drive also hosts camping, has children's playgrounds, concessions, and sponsors movies nights during the summer season.

In addition, the lakehouse is merely 30 minutes from Bowling Green, Kentucky home of the National Corvette Museum and Plant. We are less than an hour from Kentucky Down Under and Mammoth Cave National Park, which offers horseback riding, spelunking, and various other sightseeing activities.

Cooper's Cottage is also close to Harper's Restaurant - offering what we think is the BEST fried catfish in the south - a convenient store, gas stations, and grocery store, and we are happy to provide directions to any of these activities.

Great time!

We had a wonderful time. The proximity to the baileys campground is great. There is plenty of room, the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had all of the amenities, overall we were very pleased. The hosts were very responsive and easy to reach. We stayed over the holiday weekend and would definitely book again.

Great Second Stay

Absolutely love staying here. Heather is always very quick to respond and cottage has everything you need. Nice remodels to bathroom and front deck. Looking forward to being back later this year or next. Will continue to be our go to spot on Barren River Lake. Highly recommend.

Beautiful spacious cottage

Only 5 minutes to the boat ramp, up to date cottage with pretty decor. It was clean and had what we needed. Owner was very responsive and accomodating. The turnaround/parking in yard for the boat is helpful.

Great location

The house was very reasonably priced so we did not go with high expectations. The location is great with spectacular views of Barren Lake. Everything is very simple with comfy beds and clean bathrooms. The rental was clean and comfortable. It could use updating but for the price it is more than reasonable and I can completely understand the owners not wanting to invest. Altogether we had a great time. Thank you

I would definitely rent this cottage again.

This 3 bedroom 2 bathroom was a very nice cottage. The owners is always a phone call away if you need anything. They will do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We stayed there during the Corona virus situation. Everything was closed that we planned on doing with the family besides dinosaurs world. The owners gave us other ideas of things to do while we were there. Overall it was a great time.

Great Experience

The stay at the cottage was excellent. Our stay was for 10 days and enjoyed every minute. Property was nicely equipped with everything needed and clean. Property owner was quick to respond with any questions. There were ample towels available and beds were comfortable. Good internet service as well. View of the lake from lower or upper decks was awesome. Very close to Bailey's Point campground for easy lake access. Located in a very quiet neighborhood so, very peaceful in the evenings after a fun day on the lake. Highly recommend using the Bailey's Point Camping store for ice and last minute supplies. Also recommend local Paradise Point for great hotdogs and atmosphere. Will definitely be back. Thanks! Ian

Clean, well-equippd but with a few reservations

We enjoyed our stay. Would just note the following: One of the bedrooms only has access through another bedroom, it wasn't a problem for us but it should be noted. In the winter, there is not a good family eating area. We took a table in from the deck and it worked for us but was a little crowded. One of our party has mobility issues, and the exterior steps were difficult to climb, the width-riser ratio is not correct. We did enjoy our time but wanted to flag these issues. .

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I try to tell renters with multiple adults the situation with the bedrooms. Bedroom 3 is only accessible by walking through bedroom 2. These bedrooms share access to the 2nd bathroom. Typically, like you mentioned, this is not a problem for families that share our lake house, however, it could be a potential problem for 3 couples looking for a place to stay. The kitchen eating areas consist of a small 2 person table tucked in under the stair case, and an island area with 4 barstools. When we stay, I often use that island area for meal prep, instead of seating. There is also a 4 person table on the 2nd story loft, however, it is only accessible via the staircase. There is also an outside table that seats 4. Yes, the 7-8 stairs leading into the house are wide but there is only a small railing on the side, and I do believe they would present a problem for someone with mobility issues. I agree that both the outside stairs and the interior circular stair case that leads to the loft area present problems for someone with mobility issues. Thanks, I feel these are all good things for potential renters to know. You guys were great guests, and I appreciate you choosing Cooper's Cottage for your stay!!

Older home, but nice amenities

Hosts were very thoughtful in providing amenities for comfort- tons of towels, laundry detergent, toothpaste and more for those who may have forgotten a thing or two. The home is older and has been added onto several times, but the interior has been kept fairly updated. For those with small children, please note that there is a cliff right behind the cottage, with a several-stories drop off into Barren River Dam Lake below, so this may not be the place for you. The house is located in a comfortable, quiet, secluded spot in rural Kentucky. The drive in is beautiful with rolling hills and farmland. Overall, a great and comfortable stay about 45 min from Bowling Green and 40 min from Mammoth Cave. We loved Crystal Onyx Cave and El Mazatlan in Cave City, Ralphie’s Fun Center and A Little Taste of Texas in Glasgow, and the Corvette museum and Chaney’s Dairy Barn in the Bowling Green area.

Thank you. I agree, it is an older home but we have made every effort to make sure that it has an abundance of the small amenities that we can control. Lots of blankets, towels, a kitchen full of a variety of dishes and pots and pans, etc. There is a steep drop off behind the house, but we also have a sizeable front yard for the kids to play in and run around, but I completely agree, I would keep the kids out front and away from the cliff area! I wanted a private place to just be and to begin something new. This is the cabin on the lake!

My mom had just passed away and I wanted a place to reflect, breath, and also invite a friend to share my sorrow (and healing). I wanted to be away from world, city lights, and everything. I asked the owner if this was such a place, she was as good as her word. Peace and quiet... I laughed here, cried here, and found that life goes on here; one day at a time. If you seek, a place of peace and quiet.. you can book here. (Just remember, Google GPS takes you to the wrong house! I made it a point to stop by when I saw the mistaken house's owner and apologize.. I tried the provided code on every door and noticed the camera systems going off... I'm glad they understood and are very nice people... look at the number on the mailbox and head round the bend when it says "You've arrived!") If you seek a place to decompress and find a peaceful respite, this is a good option. Off the beaten path, but lacking nothing.

Thanksgiving holiday

Upon arrival the house was very dusty, (window ledges blinds and flat surfaces, dead bugs everywhere on the floors along baseboards and window ledges, hair was on bathroom floors. The main bathroom had a tub that was resurfaced and peeling so bad. We could not use that bathtub. The second day we went to dollar general to get cleaning product to clean up the home. On 11/22/22 we noticed water on kitchen floor but though we had spilled water. The pipe under the sink was leaking all over. We notified 11/23/22 to the owners due to holidays we didn’t expect anyone to come out. 11/24/22 we finally had to use the dryer for the first time and it would not work. That was a huge inconvenience, we let the owners know and they knew it was going to be going out they said. The kitchen and loft area DOES NOT stay warm on cold days. It got extremely cold in those areas. The house over all is beautiful just needs to be kept up better and poor cleaning people

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, and again my apologies the dryer's heating element went out during your stay. We replaced the element, and now the dryer is working. I do apologize for the inconvenience of both the sink and dryer malfunctioning during your stay, but both are now fixed, and we appreciate you alerting us quickly so that we could remedy the situation for the next guests. Unfortunately, we were not able to fix the dryer over the holiday weekend. We also did a deep cleaning of the windows and baseboards after your stay based on the feedback above. Again thanks for letting us know. Yes, we did try to resurface the tubs, but that did not work well, and so now (during the slower winter season) they are being replaced. New pictures will be posted when the project is complete. The kitchen and loft area have high cathedral ceilings, and the heat rises to the top during the winter season. The kitchen can be shut off from the rest of the house with the French doors that lead into the space, and while the space is colder than the rest of the house during the winter months, it is not an issue in the summer. Again, thanks for the feedback and letting us know of the areas where we had issues so that we could remedy that for new guests!

Horrible place. We would’ve never stayed there had the pictures of the place was accurate.

I sure hope VRBO take this listing off their site. The pictures looked nothing like this actual place itself. Holes in the roof at the front porch we’ll side porch front porch wasn’t even there anymore the place was filthy nasty the windows was horrible with Cobb webs and dead bugs had spiders in two of the three beds wasp inside the house electrical wires exposed outlets had no cover right at the sink which is a very bad safety hazard paint was coming off the tub where someone tried to resurface it the one bathroom the floor was sinking in you sit on the toilet and the floor moves down horrible place we drove 7 hours for this. Still waiting for a full refund. The customer service department told us to get out and leave cause of the safety issues. We had to drive all the way back 7 hours home the next days. Couldn’t sleep cause I was afraid of the spiders and the bees inside . Front porch had a huge chunk busted out of the front corner. I took pictures of everything.

Great place for a quiet retreat. Loved the view.

I wanted a quiet place to get away from the daily grind. This was a great place. It's close enough to the State Park to avail yourself of the many activities and facilities they offer and yet secluded enough to just chill watthour any demands. The upstairs balcony view of the lake is sensational.
