Weekend getaway

Property very clean and was as described in the listing. Quite and peaceful. Would stay here again Pond was beautiful. Perfect place to stay for Canton TX weekend.

Cottage in the woods

Property was as listed and was peaceful and quiet and the scenery was rustic and beautiful. The decor in the house was super cool. It had all the amenities needed for a wonderful stay! We loved it and will recommend or stay again!

Natural Escape with Fishing Pond steps away

It was a peaceful unplugged weekend with everyone fishing and relaxing. We had lunch in town (East Texas Burger and Cafe U) and grilled at the cottage each evening.

Our stay at this beautiful, well decorated and tranquil cottage was perfect. Check in was easy and effortless. The property owner was readily available and very friendly. Being Easter weekend, the owners left chocolate bunnies and hyacinth plants as a welcoming gift. The grounds are very clean with beautiful rustic barns set up for picnics or weddings. There is a fishing pond on the property that seems to have some great fishing. Unfortunately we didnt get to try our luck. We would absolutely recommend this place for a quaint stay.

The cottage is very beautiful and unique. It feels like you've step back into a different time where life wasn't so fast paced, All while still having the modern necessities. It does not have WiFi, but our phone signals were good. It has a TV and DVD player with a few decent movies, so dust off your DVDs and bring a few to add to the collection if you plan on staying (It was pretty cool to play DVDs again). The property is located just a few miles from town. It's close to everything, but away from everything and very private. Plenty of parking for my 21ft bass boat while we were visiting Lake Fork, which is approximately 15 minutes away. Victor, the host, is very polite and easy to communicate with. Definitely recommend the experience of staying here.

Not quite what we expected

The hosts clearly communicated with us throughout our stay. It isn't quite suited for ladies on a weekend getaway trip but guys would definitely be fine here. Doesn't feel safe or cozy and the surrounding property needs better lighting for late arrivals. The local town and its people were wonderful All in all, it was a very memorable experience. Wonderful property in East Texas

Had a wonderful time staying at the cottage. The house is located very close to the main roads, but is tucked just far enough back to have total peace, quiet and privacy. The land itself is beautiful and very fun to explore if you're looking to clear your head (Texas Yellowstars were in bloom this March, so we got lucky). There is also some good fishing on the property and I was able to catch a few blue gill and crappie. The host (Vic) couldn't be nicer; super accommodating and gave us good recommendations for things to do on and off the land. You can tell he has a real appreciation for the land as well as for the historical value of the property, 5/5 stars.

I remember Walden's pond from my grade school years. I can see how this place can be a Walden's pond. All the individual types of plant life. The canopy of old Oaks intertwining overhead. The cottage reminds me and my husband of farm houses from our early youth. It was a step into grandma's kitchen. I wish we had been better prepared with proper boots to walk the all the pastures and experience those open spaces. An inviting pond. The cottage has its own presence, its own character, and personality. It should be enjoyed for exactly what it is. An earlier more simple calming way of life. This is not the city. It is the country so please enjoy it as such. We loved not having to see any city light. It is a very secure area. We enjoyed all the sounds of nature that a city never gives you. We enjoyed the silence and a step away from electronic media. You can get a signal. The owners continue to make it even better. It is a feat to renovate an older structure into Grandma's farmhouse. That takes Work and should be appreciated. You have the amenities you need. Boots for walking the pastures are helpful, or a change of shoes. Vic is an absolutely amazing host. Wonderful to communicate with. Completely available if you have any need or question. He was so thoughtful to leave us flowers aIt is a very secure area. nd a bit of chocolate for our anniversary!We look forward to next time!!Sheryl and Joel

fantastic stay !!

The place was amazing, fantastic. clean little antique cottage tucked back in the woods but not far from town. Easy to find and so quiet. the property was amazing. the back porch was the gem to me cold beer and deer walking by. So quiet my family loved it even though my 3yr old had to touch everything.

Camping with beds and running water

This was what we were looking for - a secluded outdoor environment in the woods to chill and get away from the concrete. We brought our own supplies just as we would if we were camping and everything worked out fine.

Relaxing stay and close to downtown

Love this place, we've visited twice so far! Great place to getaway from the day to day life and just relax. Also downtown Mineola is close by as well.

Beautiful property!

We absolutely loved staying here. The house was charming and just what we were looking for, although we spent very little time in the house due to the property being so beautiful! Our 3 year old loved walking the trails through the trees looking for deer, horses, and cows. We would definitely come back again!

Great place to relax

Our family of 4 had a great trip to the cottage. The house was just the right size for all 4 of us. It was nice and quiet with plenty of room to roam around. We enjoyed fishing, walking around the property, watching movies and eating/shopping in mineola. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful Getaway Spot

Our family absolutely loved staying at the cottage. It's a good place to unwind. Property is located in great and quiet area. Perfect for kids to burn all that energy. Good place to stargaze. Short drive from Dallas area and close to Mineola Nature Preserve. Downtown is nice for antiquing. It'll definitely stay on our list of favorites. Will probably be back in summertime.
