History-lovers can enjoy lovely small-town charm in this home located in the heartland of Missouri only 3 miles north of major I-70. Minutes from historic Arrow Rock. Stroll downtown Blackwater, an old railroad town, for antiques, restaurants. 80 miles from Kansas City, 100 miles from St. Louis, 35 miles from Columbia, 12 miles from Boonville. You will love it!
This home is a labor of love. This has been a family home for 90 years. This newly refurbished home is meant as a quiet retreat for non smokers. All amenities are included. Please be respectful of this historic home. Only two 3-inch steps opens to an easily accessible house, all on one floor. New dishwasher available. I'll provide coffee. All other food must be provided by guests. There is a small grocery store in town. Enjoy the area! You will love it.

We went to the play and the house was perfect . We took a nice walk around the neighborhood. Shopped at the Mercantile and went to the stores in Arrow Rock . The beds were comfy and the dining room table worked good for games. The front porch was nice to sit and have our morning coffee.

This is a beautiful property that is well maintained. Particularly if you love the historic homes with the dark woods that have been kept in their original form this is a particularly beautiful place. Like older homes it does have some of that musty smell like you might find in a museum. There are candles around and that helped a great deal. The owner Kay is very responsive and easy to work with. We had everything we needed at the house and the neighborhood is lovely!

Three grade school friends connecting after 50+ years

It was perfect for our needs. We cooked, talked, played cards, talked, made crafts together, talked, and went to the local craft fair where many of the stores in Blackhorse and other nearby towns participated. Just perfect. We would love to stay there again when the weather is warmer - it snowed 3-4 inches while we there. But it was beautiful.

So relaxing

The bridesmaids house ā€¦ great place to get ready for the wedding. Wonderful front porch, back deck, and sun room gave us plenty of areas to sit and talk. It also was perfect for taking pictures. There was not a bad backdrop. It felt like home.

Wedding Weekend

I rented this house for my father, his aide, and my mother-in-law the weekend of my daughterā€™s wedding. The location was amazing because we had the wedding at Wildcliff and the reception at The Hollow. Such an adorable house!!

Wedding weekend in Blackwater

The host held this beautiful property for us for 10 months so we could have a home to work out of for our daughters Wedding. I was so excited to stay at this gorgeous home!!! It was everything and more than I expected! It was very easy to check in and the locations was right behind the wedding reception hall. Our family could walk to and from while setting up and tearing down. Very clean and tidy, the family room was big and comfortable to spend some downtime in the evenings. I just wish I had booked another night just to sit on the front porch swing a while longer.

Wedding Fun!

My husband and I and 2 other couples stayed here for the wedding of a dear friends son at Wildcliff which was just a mile and a half down the road. The reception was held at The Hallow just one block away. We could walk to and from which was awesome! We were the only ones who didnā€™t have to drive after a night of celebrating! The house was just perfect for us. Old and antiquish so it creaked at night when you walked across the hardwood floors but we loved it. It was so cute and welcoming! We loved sitting on the deck and the closed in back porch visiting. It definitely could use another bathroom since it is a 3 bedroom. Getting 6 adults ready for the wedding went fine but we had to start early to stagger getting us all in. The town doesnā€™t offer a lot but that was ok for us. There was a diner that some other friends had lunch at that said was good. Thereā€™s a coffee shop but we didnā€™t use it. The general store was closed so no where to even get ice or a toothbrush (that we forgot) but again we made due. Weā€™ve already decided a return girls trip is the making to attend a play in Arrow Rock and a stay in this quaint little house will be a must!

Girlsā€™ Getaway

Lovely house on a quiet street. Unfortunately it was too hot to enjoy either the front porch or the back deck. The glass enclosed utility room/sunroom was where we sat with our coffee in the morning. It was an easy walk to Main Street for breakfast, lunch or browsing. For anyone going to the Lyceum Theatre in Arrow Rock, this home in Blackwater is ideal for an overnight stay before or after the theatre. We were quite pleased with the house and would definitely recommend it. Suggestions for the owner: A rubber mat or grab bar in the bathtub, bedside lamps in the bedrooms for nighttime reading, and tack strips on the rug by the front door.

Peaceful Retreat

Home was immaculate. Neighborhood was quiet, a small elementary school was at the end of the street but wasnā€™t in session yet. Porch swing was my favorite spot for morning coffee and evening discussions. Small town friendliness abounds. Good eats down the street. Easy drive to Katy Trail for hiking. It was everything we wanted.
