Just a 90 minute drive from the ferry port of Caen takes you through the beautiful Normandy countryside to the lively and historic town of Domfront.
Situated right in the heart of Domfront in the main square you will find Gite St Julien is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday soaking up the history of the area.
Formerly a café dating back to the late 1800 s the property has recently undergone total restoration that has retained much of the character of this wonderful building. Offering luxury three bedroom accommodation you can soak up the atmosphere of this lovely old town. There are numerous bars and restaurants on your doorstep offering quality French fare. Within a few minutes walk you can discover the chateau where Henry II of England regularly visited with his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine.
Just an hour away is the magnificent Mont St Michel a "must" for anyone visiting Normandy. For those interested in recent history the D-Day landing beaches are an interesting day trip. If all that is too exhausting just take a few steps from your holiday home and just have a break at the Bistro enjoy a coffee and just watch the world go by.

Très charmant gîte, très bien placé

Other than having trouble communicating with the host, once checked in, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Gîte. We will definitely return.

Location ideale à Domfront

Rien a dire sur la location, parfait !En revanche le site Abritel ne fonctionne pas pour envoyer de message au propriétaire. Résultat les gestionnaires du biens et moi même n'arrivions pas a communiquer ensemble.Par chance ils m'ont téléphoné pour les modalités d'acceuil et de sortie.

Sejour gite saint Julien

Nous avons passé un excellent sejour dans ce beau gite , très propre , avec tout confort , et petit plus un poil à bois pour se réchauffer. Par contre , attention en arrivant au gite , la rue Saint Julien est fermé à la circulation d'un côté, Des travaux sont en cours. Voilà, autrement je recommande sans problème.

Schön renoviertes Haus in Mittelelalterlicher Umgebung

Wir hatte wunderbare Tage in Domfront. Das Haus wurde mit viel Liebe zum Detail modernisiert ohne den ursprünglichen Charme zu zerstören. Das Haus ist direkt in der Altstadt so das alles in Domfront zu Fuß erreichbar ist. Ein kostenloser Parkplatz ist nur ein paar Schritte entfernt.

Wohnen im Mittelalter mit Comford

Eine Woche in Domfront war wunderschön. Das umgebaute Café auf dem Berg im Kern von Domfront, lässt einen an den Film Chocolat denken. Das Haus ist komfortabel, sauber, alles da was man braucht. Es ist ruhig gelegen, alles Fussläufig zu erreichen . Die Gastgeber waren super nett und hilfsbereit. Überhaupt waren alle Einwohner sehr sehr freundlich. Wir können diese Unterkunft für einen Urlaub in der Normandie aber auch für länger 100% empfehlen.

Our Gite St Julien Stay

We were delighted with our stay at Gite St Julien. We had visited Domfront once before and stayed in a house in the Quartier Nôtre Dame which has since been sold. We chose Gite St Julien because of its location and the photos of the interior which showed that it had been renovated but still retained the original feel of the gite which was previously a café. We also enjoyed the proximity to the castle ruins as we like to sit on a bench there and watch the sun set. The gite’s location is perfect for accessing all the other interesting places in Domfront. We were a tad anxious about the noise level being in the center-Ville, but it really wasn’t an issue - there were some late night parties on a few nights, but they had settled down before midnight. Our only issue was figuring out how to use the appliances without any information sheets and also to know where and when to dispose of our trash. A few calls to friends in France, and we were able to use them all, and we found where to take the trash. The curtains throughout were especially aesthetically pleasing, and the beds their accoutrements were very lovely and comfortable. The very modern bathrooms were a treat also!

A Wonderful Stay in Domfront!

From the moment Glenn and Samantha welcomed us to Gite St. Julien, we loved every minute of our stay! Perfectly located in the historical district of Domfront with easy access to Le Mont-Saint-Michel and the Normandy coast, the house is a beautifully renovated property, located just steps from shops and restaurants with quiet, peaceful nights. We can't wait to return!

What a treasure!

What a beautiful gite! Everything was new, clean, tastefully decorated, and of the highest quality. Glenn and Sam met us with a warm welcome and basket of goodies so that we would have everything we needed for our first night. We chose to stay in Domfront because of its central location for visiting other places in Normandy, such as Bayeux , the D-day beaches, and Mont Saint Michel. What we didn’t expect was to fall in love with Domfront, itself. It was probably the highlight of our trip (which included visits to London and Paris). We are already planning a return trip at some point in the future. Beautiful town, beautiful property, beautiful hosts. Thank you!

We live in Dublin and have been visiting France for a number of years. Our daily lives are busy and the lovely property we acquired in Domfront provides us with the opportunity to escape and just relax in the lovely town of Domfront and discover the stunning Normandy history.

Whilst we do not live in France our property is in the very good hands of Leanne Engley who is based in the Domfront area. She will ensure that you have a comfortable stay and is available to deal with any queries you may have.

The property required total renovation which has taken 4 years to complete. Located in the heart of Domfront the property falls within a historic conservation area. When carrying out the renovation we had to ensure none of the unique features were lost and we were keen to ensure all work was carried out sympathetically.
To ensure none of the character was lost we employed a specialist architect and local craftsmen.
The house has been transformed and now provides a wonderful holiday home.

Situated right in the main square Gite St Julien is close to all the local restaurants and bars ensuring that no one has to drive. Within less than 5 minutes walk you have no less than six bars and restaurants.
The Chateau is just minutes away along with the tourist office. Domfront is a lively town with regular events throughout the year (check the local tourist office website)
