Located in a unique secluded, downtown compound, a ten minute walk from town centre, with its own patio, this small, cozy cottage features a view of the garden, an intimate living/dining room, a cozy bedroom with a queen size bed, bathroom with clawfoot tub/shower combination and a full galley kitchen. Tastefully decorated in an eclectic style, with vaulted ceilings and hardwood floors, this charming get away is perfect for a couple looking to enjoy all that Santa Barbara County has to offer.

A central location allows easy access to both downtown and freeway thoroughfares. Enjoy Santa Barbara's vibrant downtown area-restaurants, art galleries, cinemas, boutiques, shops, Santa Barbara Symphony, live theatre and the famous County Bowl (late Spring through Fall) The Mission and it's beautiful Rose Garden is approximately one mile away, while the beaches, waterfront and marina, are two miles away, with views of the Channel Islands offshore. Take a day trip to the Santa Ynez Valley and enjoy wine-tasting tours, the Chumash Casino and Solvang's Danish heritage.

Quaint quiet abode

We got to stay a week in this hidden gem, and it was so restful. The property is full of plants and flowers, and it's easily walkable to coffee shops, food and more in the bustling downtown area of Santa Barbara. The host was so friendly and accommodating and super responsive to any questions. Would recommend staying here!

Lovely Stay

The cabin was perfect for our stay in Santa Barbara. My partner & I felt Janet's thoughtful extra touches like breakfast foods in the refrigerator & a washing/dryer for use really helped us. And it was lovely to run into Janet every so often ... she was the best hostess we ever had ... cheerful & very helpful.

A week in Santa Barbara

This smal but comfortable cottage was perfect for us. With the outside space available there is plenty of room for two and a large dog. Janet is very friendly and thoughtful. Her provisions of wine, granola, bread, yoghurt and fresh eggs were a great treat. The kitchen is quite small but functional. The bathroom is roomy. Our stay was fabulous.

Fun Getaway

I was so pleased to see all the thought put into making this small cottage livable. From the cute shabby chic decor to the attentive homeowner Janet, it was an enjoyable stay. Downtown Santa Barbara and all it has to offer was just a few blocks away, which really made this a convenient place to hang my hat for 3 weeks. Janet provided us fresh breakfast fixings for the first night there, including beautiful flowers that welcomed my arrival. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept on during my journeys away from home, and the cooler evening temps were perfect for sleeping well. Janet has 4 properties here, this being the smallest, but also the most chic!

PERFECT

Janet's place is just lovely. This is a peaceful oasis close to downtown. We almost never moved our truck. Walked everywhere. We left our e-bikes in her garden and never even locked them up. Very safe area. This VERBO is beautifully funky down to the chickens visiting for their daily blueberry treats. Janis supplies fresh eggs on arrivial and is gracious with any help you need. We will stay again. Thank you for everything Janet.

Tropical

This place was adorable and unique. I loved how there was so much greenery, Zen decor, and such a tropical vibe for a place that's basically in the heart of the city of Santa Barbara. There was even a chicken that would visit me daily. The cottage is best for 1 person, a couple could stay there if sharing the bed but it would be very close quarters. Everything was very clean, kitchen was well stocked, there are a lot of very nice, personal touches in there. It was quiet at night and the bed was comfy. My daughter has moved to college housing in Isla Vista so I will frequently be in Santa Barbara and would gladly stay there again. If I had a complaint at all it would be that there is only street parking, but that's usually the nature of the beast in Santa Barbara!

Enchanting Cottage

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Rose Mary cottage in Santa Barbara.Our host, Janet, welcomed us upon our arrival and confirmed that we had her cell number,so that we could reach out to her at any time, with any needs.The cottage was enchanting, with an electric mix of decor and original art pieces.Everything we could possibly need was provided.Prior to our arrival, Janet inquired about our breakfast and beverage preferences.It was so lovely to have fresh eggs and toast to start our morning — a kind gesture that I’ve not experienced before with VRBO/AirB&B.The cottage was very clean, bed linens and bath towels were top quality, and the small kitchen was remarkably efficient and provided everything we needed to make a few meals during our stay.The convenience of the location of Rose Mary cottage is superb, and it was easy to park our rental car on the street.Should we decide to visit Santa Barbara in the future, we would love to stay here again.

Great Stay

The location of Janet's property is fantastic, you can walk anywhere. Only a mile and a half from beaches in a few directions. The property is full of beautiful plants and nice touches that make this place a better option than a hotel. Janet was a great host and was very responsive with any request. Nice touches in my room when i checked in too. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend her to other travelers.

Magical place!

I recently stayed in this lovely cottage & can say without a doubt, I will be returning! From the moment I walked down the path through the gardens & entered into what would become my home away from home, I fell in love! The place itself is charming with it's eclectic & 'shabby chic' decor. It was so clean and well-appointed with every possible thing a person could ever need (including it's own umbrella!) Janet, the hostess, is just amazing and what I would soon learn, one of the most kind & thoughtful persons on the planet! She has the biggest heart and does everything in her power to make your stay a delight, including (as other guests have pointed out) yummy things to get you started like homemade granola or fresh eggs & bacon, flowers, wine.... again it exceeded all expectations! I am definitely coming back! Thank you Janet! ❣️

Thief and liar

I would’ve been happy to write an outstanding review besides the fact that the host is a thief and a liar. Due to unseen circumstances I had to cut my stay short by almost 2 1/2 weeks. The host looked me in the eye and told me she would refund the money to me By breaking it down to a weekly rate! she specifically Said to my face and told me that because of the circumstances she would be happy to refund the money, even though that was not standard procedure.... I asked her four times, are you sure? I asked her many more times are you sure? and she replied yes, if you write your information down then I will send you an envelope in the mail... It has now been over a month and I have received absolutely NO REFUND!!! I havent even received a letter from her, and she specifically told me to write my phone number, my name, my address, and all my information Down on a piece of paper on the table... If this lady did not lie right to my face and specifically tell me she was going to give me a refund due to the circumstances then like I said before I would have no problem better reviewing, but for any future guest staying there be aware that this lady does not stay true to her word! She comes off as a nice lady just to steal peoples hard earned money... you need an ETHICS CLASS!!! Good luck in the future by treating your guest like this. A very unhappy tenant!

Love this space, and love Janet! Inspiring and restful, and filled with the owner's warmth and thoughtfulness reflected in the many personal touches throughout the space and grounds. Fabulous claw foot bathtub for a deeply relaxing soak! Janet is a wonderful host; quickly responsive and very communicative.

It's a little oasis in the middle of the city.

Janet is a wonderful, kind, and caring host. My room was stocked with fresh eggs from the chickens who live on the property. The apartment is charmingly and comfortably furnished. The location is ideal. Even though it is close to the freeway, it was very quiet. It is walking distance to downtown and shops on State Street. I am definitely going to return.

Lovely cottage

My husband and I stayed in the cottage in December 2017 and we loved it. Quintessential Santa Barbara with an amazing patio with lights in the trees. Perfect for coffee in the morning or cocktails in the evening. The cottage is located walking distance to the restaurants and shops on State St. Janet is the perfect hostess-we had fresh eggs, fresh flowers, well equipped kitchen and she has quite a bit of art that really makes the cottage special. We hope to return someday.

And amazing cottage! Janet thinks of everything to make your stay comfortable and welcoming.

We were so impressed by Janet’s kindness and consideration. For example, she had fresh eggs, milk, bacon, bread and other breakfast items in the refrigerator for us. The decor of the cottage is beautiful and the setting makes you forget that you are in the middle of the city. We very much appreciated that we could bring our dog Cody with us. He also felt right at home and welcome! The location of the cottage is ideal for walking to museums, historical sites, shopping, and more. We definitely will choose to stay here again the next time we are in Santa Barbara. Thank you, Janet! 🐾🐾🐾🐾

Great spot!

Janet was very welcoming and helpful as needed. We enjoyed a generous breakfast in the cottage, fresh coffee, tea, and everything we needed to feel cared for. It was a great retreat with a lot of greenery and tranquil vibes.
