Located at Katoomba in the heart of the Blue Mountains - is ATELIER, the former studio of renowned Australian artist Tim Maguire, winner of the Moet & Chandon Australian Art Fellowship in 1993.

ATELIER is nestled in the grounds of historic Burnie Brae (Circa 1908) in a quiet suburban location and is within easy walking distance of the local main street with its shops, cafes and restaurants.

A short and easy drive away is the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park, with all its natural beauty and various attractions just waiting for you to explore.

Externally, ATELIER is unassuming and blends in well with the main house. However, internally is has an astonishing open plan design with a loft stye bedroom.

ATELIER is truly a unique concept in modern and stylish mountain holiday accommodation and living.

Offering a cosy wood fire to snuggle up by on a cold night, a relaxing spa after that enduring bushwalk and a queen size bed at the end of a fantastic day.

ATELIER is your home away from home and is available to couples seeking a romantic getaway from that busy city life.

Off street parking is usually available for your stay and you are quite welcome to use it, just ensure that the gates are left closed after you have entered or left the property please.

However, there are times when we do require the driveway area for our own use (landscaping supplies etc.) and we are unable to give much notice that we require it, but most of the time it is available.

At these times we ask that you park on the street in front of the property as there is always plenty of parking available throughout the year.

If you need to purchase provisions for your stay, there is a Coles, a Woolworths and an ALDI supermarket close by, as well as various bottle-shops including a Dan Murphyā€™s about 150 meters away.

We are also close to the local cinema complex (The Edge), as well as the local aquatic center which contains a 25 meter indoor heated pool, a 50 meter outdoor pool and various gym facilities.

The Atelier is as described and has everything one needs for a Blue Mountains getaway. Communication with host Michael has been top notch. Public transport is within easy walking distance to the property. I have absolutely enjoyed my week and half in Katoomba utilising the Atelier as my home away from home.

Atelier was such a great getaway, so close to everything. The spa was amazing but make sure the jets arenā€™t pointing up as they were for our 1st one haha but gave us a good laugh. It was such a cozy place to stay and come back to after lots of exploring, the bed was very comfortable and the fire was amazing! Thank you Michael.

We had such a cozy and charming stay here. The atmosphere was wonderful, and lighting the fireplace made the whole place warm and inviting, helping us sleep so well. The bed even had an electric blanket, so we were never cold. The spa was another highlight cuz the hot water never ran out, so we could enjoy it without any worries.The only downside was that the brick-paved area at the parking spot and entrance to the Atelier was extremely slippery due to algae, and I nearly slipped backwards several times. Other than that, it was an absolutely perfect winter getaway. This place was much better and aesthetically pleasing in person than in the photos.

Lovely, cosy, homely suite and so good we could cook for ourselves or easily access eateries in the Main Street! Very quiet location and my husband enjoyed setting and tending the wood fire and chopping kindling but it could have been a more efficient fire place! Also the dish washer was not working! But we did love its uniqueness with mezzanine level and ferns visible in the upper windows!

The fireplace was so lovely, loved the big windows that you can see from the bedroom with the natural light coming in the mornings. The bathroom was very nice and kitchen amenities were great. It was walking distance to the main town but we chose to drive. Mike gave great recommendations for food and drinks in the area, and his advice regarding hikes to take was very thorough and helpful. Overall we had a great stay here! Thanks Mike!

We loved the location of Atelier, from which we could drive to various attractions in the region. It was such a comfortable and cosy place to return to after a day of adventures. Our stay at katoomba

We had a wonderful stay! The place was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The location was perfect, and the host was very accommodating and responsive to any questions we had. My girlfriend and I truly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend this stay to anyone visiting the area. We would definitely come back again. Thank you for a great experience!

Extremely rejuvenating and relaxing

A little getaway for me and my fiancƩ to relax have fun and rejuvenate. Atelier fulfilled all our needs and ticked all the boxes. Extremely comfortable with everything we needed. We had an amazing time from arriving to departure everything was smooth. Easy access and close to town and many other areas of interest. It was beautifully decorated and very clean. We absolutely loved and enjoyed our time and will definitely return. Thank you

Atelier Katoomba a superb little cottage

Atelier is a cosy little cottage nestled in the heart of Katoomba with the centre only a few streets away. Our host Michael made the booking process easy and smooth and I would highly recommend staying here, extremely clean, neat and tidy everything you need for a weekend away to relax and recharge your batteries there was even a little goodie basket.

The property was a little disappointing.

Kitchen drawers were cluttered ,untidy with some dirty utensils in them. No bathmat or hand towel in the bathroom. The fitted bottom sheet did not fit the mattress properly. The rug on the lounge floor was dirty. I folded it up so as not to walk on it. General untidiness of cupboard containing broom, clothes airer etc.

Property was disappointing

The floor, bathrrom, kitchen areas all clean and tidy. However, the windows were covered with cobwebs and dirt and there were dozens of dead flies on upper window ledges which you look down on from the mezzanine level. There are no insect screens on any windows and doors so no chance for fresh air without letting in flies and mosquitoes. The property looks lovely online but I wouldn't recommend it to others. Also we hadn't received the code to unlock the property and the owner was quite abusive when we phoned for it. Apparently he said he sent it back in January (a month prior) which we find quite unusual. Most properties send it the day before or the day of arrival.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for viewing one or both of the properties that I have listed with VRBO/

Burnie Brae (circa 1908 ) and ATELIER (the former artist studio)

Burnie Brae - is main house on the property and was built in an Edwardian/Federation style in 1908, and is one of the premier houses in the area.

Whilst retaining many original features including it's Wunderlich pressed metal ceilings, the house also provides a sense of warmth, comfort, space and homeliness (with modern day conveniences of course) and is suitable for one or two couples to stay.

ATELIER - is the former artist studio of the previous owner and is nestled in the rear garden at the end of short winding path through the north-side garden.

Externally, the studio is very deceiving as it blends in well with the main house, but internally, it can easily be described as light, airy and modern and is perfect for a single person or a couple to stay.

And now a little bit about me:

Prior to moving up here over 18 years ago, I grew up in the inner city area of Sydney and use to always be drawn to the Blue Mountains in my youth for bushwalking and camping expeditions with a nature club that I use to belonged to.

Over the years I have tackled many of the spectacular bush-walks and enjoyed some of the areas best cafes, pubs and restaurants, so I am happy to give out a 'locals' recommendations where consistency, service and atmosphere are the key defining factors.

As well as running Burnie Brae (circa 1908) & ATELIER, I also have a full time job in the city.

I guess I would best describe myself, as pretty much an easy going and helpful sort of guy, that enjoys most things that life has to offer, especially busk-walking, gardening and cooking.

If you see me around the house , its usually on the weekends about one a month, so just say Hi !
