There are 2 romantic bedrooms, one of which has the original baked tiled floor & views over the ancient roof tops of the medieval market town. Being situated in the heart of la cité mediévale, this accommodation offers holidays for those wishing to immerse themselves into the french rural, pace and way of life. It is ideal for couples and families, for holidays, mini breaks, stop overs. The cottage is within easy reach of local markets which sell fresh, traditional produce. St.Aignan's restaurants, shops, river, indoor/outdoor swimming pools, are 5 mins walk. Delightful home away from home

This delightful house is set in an small historic town located in a central part of the Loire, on the river Cher. From here we could explore the Loire Valley itself, the Solonge, and Berry. The cottage was comfortable, warm and suited our needs as a couple. Deborah provided easy instructions and a warm greeting when we arrived. St Aignan has enough facilities, including food options. We most enjoyed shopping just outside our door on Saturday and then having a home cooked meal that night. If you love history, music and literature, take a day trip to Nohant, the home of George Sand, a quiet refuge where she hosted many great writers, artists and composers, including Chopin. It was great to walk in the same places they would have walked. Montresor is the best small chateau and Da Vinci's house in Amboise is a good outing if you have children interested in his inventions, as working models are on display. However, it is of limited interest with regard to Da Vinci himself, as it has none of his works or original artefacts. Romorantin and Blois are other towns well worth visiting. Of the chateaux, Chambord is the most imposing and Chenonceau has beautiful gardens, but it is so packed with tourists that we found ourselves longing for the more real experience of Montresor. The accommodation could be improved with a washing machine, television and telephone, but we managed without, enjoying DVDs that were supplied.

The cottage is furnished for your comfort, a home away from home and therefore all my guests needs are hopefully met. All guest comments are carefully considered hence why I am currently looking into obtaining international and english speaking television. There isn't a washing machine in La Petite Boutique as a 24 hour laundrette service is only 2 minutes walk from the cottage. A clothes airer is provided as well as an iron and ironing board. There is no telephone in the cottage as nearly all my guests have mobile telephones. However for guests who do not own mobile telephones, public telephones, which take coins as well as bank cards are situated opposite the tourist information office or on the quay both of which are 5 minutes walk away.

Situation idéale pour visiter les alentours .

Location permettant de découvrir les principaux châteaux en moins d'une heure. 5 minutes de Beauval. St Aignan est agréable à découvrir: bons restaurants et animations en août. A noter, location en centre du village. Amateurs de silence et calme s'abstenir.

La maison est sur une place dans le village, le boulanger est excellent et le charcuterie n'est pas loin. Ilya plusieurs restaurants dans le village.

You had fantastic weather - autumn colours on the vineyards and grape harvest, and fresh walnuts, did you taste some fresh bernache? (the first stage of wine- making, lightly fermented grape juice) and the low sun is great for photographing the Chateaux. Hope you had a good journey home.

Great location, pretty old town on the Cher and comfortable stay!

We've had a good week and for sure St Aignan has proven to be a central location for exploring this part of the Loire-Cher region. The town and the gite have had all we needed - watching the market set up this morning- literally on the doorstep - and then listening to locals meeting, greeting and doing their shopping has been a great way to end our stay. As everyone else who has stayed here has commented, the boulangerie/patisserie just around the corner is exceptional! We ate dinner in the town at Le Huit. The daily menu at 23 euros for 3 courses was a bargain for a delicious meal. We've been out and about each day, lots of chateaux visiting (of course) - Chenonceau, Chambord, Villandy and Clos Luce all recommended. Amboise and Tours both have lovely mediaeval squares and buildings, but we recommend taking the train to Tours, parking for free at Noyer sur Cher. The Abbey at Fontevraud is a bit of a drive but worth it to pay respects to Richard the Lionheart and Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine. The weather has been kind for the time of the year, but much of the tourist activities (apart from visiting the chateaux themselves) have come to an end. We return home reluctantly, but with great memories of our time here.

There are a surprising number of châteaux and sites that stay open now all year round, and the autumn colours throughout the vineyards and the forests are stunning at this time of year. For anybody wishing to arrive by train, there is a bus service to and from the town centre to the train station (Noyer St Aignan).

La petite boutique est pleine de charme, bien située, bien équipée. Un tout petit bémol pour l'isolation sonore, mais c'est très agréable aussi d'être dans la vieille ville.

La maison étant 15C nous attendons toujours le feu vert pour modifier les fenetres pour plus d'isolation sonique. En attendant j'ai acheté des stores isolantes. La place est beaucoup plus calme depuis quelques entretiens avec l'administration de la ville!

Very pretty traditional French house

The house is well equipped. Situated centrally for local restaurants, shops and bars. ST Aignan-Sur-Cher is a delightful town on the banks of the Cher. There are several good restaurants in the town and we ate at most of them. Not one bad meal which is a bonus. The town is perfect for traveling to the many chateaux along the Cher and surrounding areas. Highlights were the Zoo Parc at Beauval 10 minutes from the Town. Allow a full day as there is so very much to see and do. Amboise, the Chateau Royal and the home of Leonardo da Vinci, Montresor Chateau and the riverboat tour under Chateaux Chenonceaux. No shortage of things to do, just time to do it all. The only down side was the bed and bedding at the house. It was 40 degrees and the mattress protector was plastic, the fitted sheet didn't and there was a warning that using other bedding would result in a charge. There was a curtain in the bathroom which finished about a foot above the bottom of the window which was next to the toilet and opening to a restaurant next door. Nothing worse than someone catching your eye at that moment. Other than that the sofas were comfy, there is a washing machine and dishwasher which is handy. There was a welcoming bottle of wine. Thank you.

We did have some exceptionally hot weather, so bought fans for each room, and closing the shutters each day keeps the house cool. We do like to keep the mattresses clean and new with cotton-sided impermeable protection, it is such a shame you never contacted me because of course we are at your disposal to provide different bedding if you need to change it. The replacement blinds are now installed in the bathroom. I'm glad you enjoyed the zoo, the "Equestrian Show" at Chambord, and Semblançay and Valençay sound and light shows are worth a visit.

Belle maison mais environnement bruyant

La maison est fidèle au descriptif, jolie et assez bien équipée, en plein centre. A revoir cependant la literie un peu ancienne et grinçante, le peu d'intimité à la salle de bains, le manque de casserole et poele grand format pour 5. Mais le gros problème de notre séjour : le BRUIT occasionné par des bars aux alentours qui font de la musique jusque 4h00 du matin et le marché juste devant les fenêtres de la maison le samedi dès 5h00 du matin. Nous avons donc écourté notre séjour car nous avons 3 enfants pour pouvoir dormir correctement à notre domicile, dommage ! La propriétaire se renseigne pour le problème généré par les bars récemment installés ....

Apparament il y avait Les Harmonicas sur Cher - un festival de musique partout dans la ville. Ily avait de la musique partout! C'était exceptionelle. C'est vrai la maison étant pour 4/5 personnel max il n'y a pas de très grande casserole. Je vais en ajouter. Merci de votre suggestion. J'ai acheté un store pour la Salle de bain.

Cette petite boutique nichée au cœur du ravissant village de Saint Aignan est confortable, chaleureuse, accueillante et très fonctionnelle ...Nous avons beaucoup apprécié ce séjour ..en raison notamment des magnifiques châteaux à visiter et qui sont tous à proximité ainsi que le zoo de Beauval qui vaut vraiment le déplacement ... Quaint town and great setting

We enjoyed staying at La Petite Boutique. The property was quite unique and it suited our purposes very well. We enjoyed being right on the little square and the property was close to most of the chateaus and other sites we wished to visit including a trip to the Vouvray wine caves which was a very interesting side light. The town was beautiful with the river running by on the northern side and the parking around the town was easy to access. All in all a very good time and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

You did so much in the short time you stayed! There's so much to see, and a lot of other wines to try ... Montlouis whites (opposite Vouvray) Chinon and Bourgueil reds.... I hope time you'll come and visit us at the farm too.

Perfect home in a perfect village

La PetiteBoutique's position on the village square in the picture postcard village of St Aignan is ideal. It is a quintessential beautiful French village. We had 2 of our grandchildren with us and felt completely safe sending them off in the morning to buy fresh croissants at the nearby baker. Jane met us on our arrival, and made us feel very welcome. She has very cleverly renovated her lovely cottage,to provide comfort and style. We had everything we could need, and everything was scrupulously clean and well maintained. Thanks Jane we would love to come again.

Les travaux de la maison commencent maintenant la saison touristique est terminée, et nous avons prévu des stores pour les fenêtres, les travaux sur la maison était suivi pas l'architecte des bâtiment de France (monuments historiques) donc la maison (15ème siècle) doit garder son caractère originelle.

Excellent Location, Excellent Owner, Great Value

We would like to return and stay there again. From working with the friendly, helpful, & trustworthy owner a number of months ago to departure it was a great experience. The La Petite Boutique is a very clean and comfortable apartment right on the town center. Two Bedrooms, Bath, and kitchen. St Aignan is in a central location to visit the Castles in the Loire Valley. As a bonus, the owner speaks English. The owners of a Bar 1/2 block away - La Lapin Blanc, are very helpful and one speaks English.

Well appointed cottage ideal for families. The host had thought of everything. She was responsive, welcoming and really helpful. We stayed with our 2 small children and she supplied extra age appropriate toys. So thoughtful. Would stay there again.

Un lieu dépaysan

Un lieu très sympa au coeur du village de St Aignan à 2 pas du zoo de Beauval. L'accueil fût chaleureux et la maison est parfaite pour une famille (avec 2 voir 3 enfants). La cuisine est très fonctionnelle, elle ne manque de rien. Tout y est très agréable. La maison est située sur une place assez calme en hiver où les voitures se garent (claquement de portières) et où se tient le marché le samedi matin, sous les fenêtres. C'est l'inconvénient d'une maison au coeur d'un village.Nous n'avons pas été dérangés par le bruit mais cela pourrait arriver en pleine saison. Une maison charmante, très bien équipée (WiFi, DVD, cuisine, SDB, etc..)

The area is also home to International festivals such as Bd boum, Rendez vous de l'histoire, Jazz in Cheverny and Montlouis, Classical Music festivals at Chambord and Pontlevoy, Equestrian events at Lamotte Beuvron.

This house is a medieval village store that has been converted keeping many original features, illustrated in a couple of photos on the walls.
The living room, which is the first room you walk into, has cosy, rounded walls.. There are dog footprints cast into the red quarry tiles...
