Why come to Praia d'el Rey? It is beautiful! Peaceful! Real Portugal! Healthy! One of the best golf courses in Europe (Praia d'el Rey), plus the breathtaking already famous West Cliffs course and two other very high quality courses within ten minutes driving. Some of the best surf in the world (Google 'Supertubos'). Cheap delicious wine and seafood. Glorious beaches. Friendly locals.

Praia D’El Rey has won many awards as Europe’s leading golf & leisure resort, and Portugal’s top golf resort . The region (Silver Coast) has amazing sites of Portuguese heritage (eg Obidos, Alcobaca, Sintra), beautiful golden beaches, delicious seafood restaurants and local wine, and beautiful nature. The resort has 6 tennis courts and coaching available.

My place is a large, fairly new home, with a balcony from every room. The property is on the second floor (one up from ground). There is a car parking spot in front. Perfectly manicured gardens and pool surround the apartment. Free WiFi.

Praia D’El Rey resort occupies an enviable position on the Atlantic coast, with superb surf beaches, sand dunes, beautiful pine forests and a wealth of sport and leisure activities. The area is much less crowded than the Algarve – so you can enjoy your holiday with less stress.

The 600 acre resort is an easy 1 hour drive north of Lisbon Airport, on the A8 motorway. It is West of the medieval fortress town of Óbidos and close to the picturesque fishing village of Peniche. Offshore lie the Berlenga Islands designated as a national nature reserve.

Activities include golf, tennis, surfing, swimming, walking, sailing, cycling, fishing, horse riding, diving and wind-surfing.

Surfing information: Baleal is 5km from the resort, and is known as the surfing capital of Portugal. Supertubos is 7km away, and holds one of the World Surfing Tour events each year. There are surfing schools in the area, and plenty of beach and reef breaks.

Golf: In addition to Praia d'el Rey, there are three other beautiful high quality courses within a 10 minute drive: Bom Sucesso, Royal Obidos (designed by Ballesteros) and Westcliffs. Westcliffs was completed in 2017 and was voted as the world's best new golf course! Quiet and comfortable

The appartament was as described, large, comfortable with all the amenities needed. Huge living room and 2 bathrooms were perfect for our large family. The swimming pool was really nice and warm, although after 5.30 p.m. it was already in the shadow. The resort beach is a long walk away, so you definitely need a car to move around. The beach is dramatically beautiful but the waves are too big to swim. If you go with kids it better to visit Baleal which is 20 min away by car. If you seek a quiet and not too hot area to relax, it is a perfect place :) Avarage temperature in August was 21 degrees, with morning mist until 12-1 pm. Rod was very helpful with all our questions, also the property manager reacted really fast when we needed help with TV.

Spacious, comfortable apartment

Six of us (ages 13-52) had a very comfortable stay at Rod's apartment in Praia D'el Rey. Check-in with the property management company was easy even though we arrived later in the evening. The apartment was clean and the lounge/dining area was even bigger than it looked in the photos. We most appreciated the blackout blinds so that the sun didn't wake us up. The wifi was easy to access and more than fast enough for my needs. I think my 4 children pushed it to its limits if they were all trying to stream videos. My only (minor) complaint was that with tile floors, a big space, and only one rug, it could get loud in the main gathering area. Within the resort, the apartment was located close to the entrance and to the Clubhouse. The Marriott was a little further away but just a 5 minute drive. The Beach Village (mini-market, gelateria, etc.) was further away with a 10 minute drive. The beach was uncrowded with spectacular waves and gorgeous fine sand. You need a car to really enjoy the area. There were plenty of restaurants, on and off the resort. The binder provided in the apartment listed a lot of local information as well. Overall, it was a great stay, and we would highly recommend!

Great apartment, lovely resort, gorgeous region.

Beautifully equipped & situated, we were thrilled with Rod's apartment & the Silver Coast. When renting apartments for 6 in the past, we'd usually arrive & think, "hate to be squeezed in here in a group of 6". That was definitely not the case here; it was fantastic. All 3 bedrooms are generous, the living/dining area huge & the kitchen spacious. Every room has a balcony except the bathrooms & the hall. The property has all you need & also has comprehensive info on supermarkets, restaurants, etc. The wifi was quicker than mine. The tv had BBC1, 2, 4, ITV & all the news channels you'd get on a Sky package, as well as many local & international channels. We discovered that Portugal has indeed Got Talent. We stayed late Summer; it was quieter in the resort than high season, I guess, but it meant that the pool was a private pool half the time. It's properly deep at one end (appreciated by swimmers), but plenty of shallow & also a waist deep shelf all the way around. Lots of sun-loungers. The immediate surrounds were silent at night. It was a 2 minute drive to the clubhouse or the hotel. We only frequented the clubhouse, finding the two menus more than enough on our too-lazy-to-cook-or-drive nights. Take away menu too. People there (& throughout the region) were noticeably friendly, more so than the Algarve of which we are also fond. The beach at the far end of the resort is endless, dramatically picturesque, backing onto low crumbling cliffs. It's lifeguarded, which meant I couldn't risk my life in the huge waves as the red flag was up. You'll find somewhere swimmable on one of Baleal's two beaches. Baleal is 15 mins away, dotey & seductively relaxed, we adored it. Surfing opportunities are everywhere too. Google pics of Obidos & pick your favourite; it will still not come up to the loveliness of that town. We walked every lane and I walked all the ramparts (a bit hairy!) but we are left with the realisation that our photos just don't do it justice now. Be sure to have some Ginja in a chocolate cup (everywhere). We had a particularly memorable meal in Petrarum Domus, not least because we had to get a bridge to our table upstairs; so charming. We didn't have a bad meal out in about 20 attempts on this holiday. Obidos is a casual 20 minute drive away. You will need a car unless staying solely on the resort. So much to see and do; can't fit half of it here. We'll be back next year, so we'll tell you the other half then! Thanks Rod!

Ruhige saubere Wohnung mit sehr viel Platz

Die Wohnung liegt in einer Ferienhausanlage abseits von Peniche und Ferrel. Ein Auto ist unbedingt nötig. Die Anlage ist schön und gepflegt. Die Wohnung ist sehr groß, hat 3 Schlafzimmer und 2 Bäder. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet mit Geschirrspüler und Waschmaschine/ Trockner. Es gibt eine Kapselkaffeemaschine. Leider waren keine Erstausstattung Kapseln und Gewürze, wie Salz vorhanden. Poolhandtücher sind nicht inclusive und leider haben wir auch einen Wäscheständer zum Trocknen der Handtücher vermisst. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Insgesamt war unser Aufenthalt angenehm.

Eine sehr gepflegte Anlage mit reichlich Platz

Wir waren eine Woche in der Wohnung und sind absolut begeistert. Die Wohnung liegt im ersten Stock. Die vier Balkone zeigen alle zur Anliegerstrasse, die nur von Anwohnern befahren wird. Am Morgen bieten die Balkone einen schönen Ausblick auf die Anlage viel mit Sonne. Perfekt zum Frühstücken. Abends kann man dort ruhig entspannen, da die Sonne dort nicht mehr scheint. Die Wohnung ist recht groß. In jedem drei Schlafzimmer sind je zwei Betten die wir zusammen schieben durften. Die Wohnung ist sehr gut ausgestattet und es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Wlan ist ebenfalls sehr schnell und stabil. Zum Baden sind wir meist zur Lagune gegenüber von Arelho de Foz gefahren. Fahrzeit ca. 10 Minuten mit dem Auto. Das Meer in der Region ist recht wild, aber dank der Lagune kann man dort wunderbar ins Wasser gehen und lange Spaziergänge sind, wegen des milden Wetters, sehr angenehm. Wir hatten Anfang Juli nicht mehr als 30 Grad während einige Kilometer weiter, Richtung Inland fast 40 Grad herrschten. Nachmittags waren wir meist am Pool, der sehr sauber war. Es gab ausreichend Liegen und Schatten. Die Kommunikation mit der Agentur lief ohne Probleme. Der Sitz der Agentur ist 5 km von der Wohnung entfernt. Nachdem wir die Schlüssel bekommen haben, wurden wir dorthin begleitet und bekamen eine Einweisung in die Wohnung und einen Überblick über die Umgebung. Am Tag der Abreise kam eine Mitarbeiterin vorbei zur Schlüsselübergabe. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten für Lebensmittel gibt es ausreichend in Peniche. Fahrzeit c.a. 20 Minuten. Wir hatten eine tolle, entspannte Woche in der Wohnung. Wer es ruhig mag und mobil ist, ist hier sehr gut aufgehoben.

Super séjour

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour ( 2 semaines) , l'appartement est agréable, spacieux et très propre, belle piscine. Situé dans un resort très bien entretenu. Seul bemol, un peu plus de vaisselle aurai été bienvenue.

Awesome apartment in an awesome complex!

Quiet and beautiful apartment in a quiet complex. Beautiful beach and gold course! We stayed 4 nights and had a great time. The owner is wonderful and easy to work with. House has plenty of dishes and kitchen gadgets to make a meal. Beds are SUPER comfortable! The bathtub is AMAZING! Parking is plentiful. Pool was clean and the water was very comfortable. We liked it so much we actually extended our stay. I recommend this home and location for anyone looking to relax or do touristy things. Super close to Obidos / Peniche / Baleal. Definitely worth staying!

Emplacement idyllique, propriété superbe, calme et agréable à vivre. Très bien entretenu, propre. Appartement très bien équipé mais dommage que ça n'apparaisse pas dans l'annonce. La piscine est propre mais non chauffée. À recommander ++ En plus, vendeur de fruits et légumes bio au village d'à côté.

Prachtig appartement met echt alles wat je nodig zou kunnen gebben. Heerlijk zwembad

Heel mooi appartement op de eerste verdieping met overal balkons. Keuken voorzien van alle gemakken zoals een oven, vaatwasser en wasmachine. Heerlijk zwembad met ligbedden. Vanaf ons appartement was het bijna 2 km lopen naar een prachtig strand en zee met hoge golven wat prachtig was om te zien. Lissabon was een uur rijden. In de buurt ook veel mooie plekken. Genoeg te doen in je vakantie! Wij waren er 18 nachten en elke 6 dagen kwam er iemand de bedden verschonen en ook nog schoonmaken.! Fantastisch!

Sehr gepflegtes Appartement in einer tollen Anlage!

Wir fahren seit ein paar Jahren regelmäßig nach Praia d'el Rey und dieses Appartement hat definitiv zu den besten gehört, die wir bislang dort gemietet haben. Die Terrasse ist ideal für ein Frühstück in der Sonne, alle Räume waren sehr gepflegt, der wöchentliche Reinigungsservice war sehr gründlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder und können das Objekt nur weiterempfehlen!

A lovely, spacious base to stay with a great pool

We loved the apartment and had a great time. Once we got used to the regular sea mist we adjusted our plans accordingly. During our stay out of 14 days we were there four of them were sunny all day in Praia Del Rey and we enjoyed the pool during those days and went down to the lovely beach for walks. On the other days, which were very misty in the mornings, we went out to local monasteries in Alcobaça, Batalha and Tomar, palaces in Lisbon and Sintra and Fatima, Nazaré and Caldas da Rainhas to enjoy the amazing history and culture in 23-27 degrees heat and sun. We only ate out in Lisbon and Obidos because we're not really into fish restaurants but the meals were very good and inexpensive . Lisbon was lovely especially Almafa and Baixa Chaido We loved the local eucalyptus and tea trees and broke the leaves to take in the aromas. We liked the peaceful atmosphere Portugal offers and the people are friendly. Óbidos was our favourite place with the combination of town walls and charming curio shops but Sintra came a close second with the amazing royal palace and stunning views. We hadn't realised that the dehumidifier would be needed so much and it was a bit loud. The Wi-Fi was variable and only worked for half of the days we were there partly because the whole cable into the block blew after our first week and took 3 days to repair. But before this it was hit and miss with the connection. We had a lucky escape when the lock on the front door seized up and we couldn't get back into the flat. Fortunately it was the day before we were due to return. Luckily my son left his balcony door slightly open and the Holiday Portugal repair man climbed up the extendable ladder and got in that way. The lock had to be replaced. This could have affected us badly if it had happened at a different time of day or on the morning of our departure. We liked the well stocked kitchen and the massive space in the flat. The main balcony was great to have breakfast on. The local flowers were attractive. My daughter had problems with the soft mattress but it was ok in the end. My wife appappreciated the quality bedding. She also enjoyed walking around the resort. We had to remind the HP office to get the cleaners in our flat on the second Monday as they had not organised this. They should have done so as per the agreement without us prompting them. The Praia beach and waves were dramatic and wonderful. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and it was a great base for our holiday.

Très bien

Nous avons passé d’agréables vacances à cet endroit du Portugal, la côte est magnifique, le domaine est très bien entretenu et au calme, l’appartement est vraiment bien, très propre avec tout ce qu’il faut, et très bien équipé, avec de bonnes literies.La piscine est toute proche de la résidence juste derrière . Appartement calme, grand et confortable

Nous sommes ravis de notre séjour à Praia Del Rey. Nous étions 4 adultes et 2 enfants de 5 ans et 6 ans. L'appartement est calme, très fonctionnel, spacieux et confortable. Il y a tout ce qu'il faut. Le resort est propre. La piscine est superbe et chauffée comme décrit. Les enfants se sont bien amusés au terrain de jeux. Les plages sont magnifiques. Par contre, il faut prendre sa voiture pour s'y rendre. Le propriétaire est très sympathique et bienveillant. C'est un bon point de départ pour visiter Obidos, Peniche, l'île des Berlengas, Baléal, Nazaré. Nous n'hésiterons pas à revenir.

Riesige Unterkunft in absolut ruhiger Umgebung nahe fantastischer Strände!

Die sehr große Wohnung ist mit allem ausgerüstet, was man für einen Urlaub als Selbstversorger braucht. Wir haben uns sofort darin wohl gefühlt. Trotz Ferienzeit in Portugal waren viele der Häuser und Wohnungen auf dem weitläufigen Gelände des Beach Resorts nicht belegt. Entsprechend ruhig war es. Das Klappern der Tassen beim Frühstück auf dem Balkon war zeitweise das lauteste Geräusch. Die gesamte Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und wird sogar bewacht. Die Security fuhr dort mit dem Segway Streife! Die in der ausführlichen Gästemappe aufgelisteten Ausflugsziele sind alle einen Besuch wert. Unser persönliches Highlight waren jedoch die Strände an der Silberküste. Einer schöner als der andere. Wir hatten für die Dauer unseres Aufenthaltes einen Mietwagen zur Verfügung. Den braucht man definitiv, da das Resort doch etwas abseits liegt. Wir haben das Einkaufen immer mit unseren Ausflügen verbunden. Durch die Nähe zum Atlantik waren die Temperaturen sehr angenehm. Wir konnten gut schlafen. Zusammenfassend können wir sagen, dass alles hervorragend organisiert war. Angefangen bei dem ausgesprochen netten Kontakt mit dem Vermieter Rodney über die im Vorfeld der Reise zur Verfügung gestellten Informationen bis hin zur Schlüsselübergabe bzw. -rücknahme bei der Agentur vor Ort. Wir können Rodney und sein Appartement ausdrücklich empfehlen und hoffen, einmal dorthin zurückkehren zu können.

Very good - exactly as described.

The apartment was exactly as described which is always a good start. The area is a little quiet, which is exactly what we want - we have been before. It would be easy to spend all of your time on the resort, but venturing out finds much wider opportunities for dining in local restaurants and we have never been disappointed. The two golf courses on Praia D'el Rei, and nearby Royal Obidos, are all stunning in their own way, and alone are worth the trip. If you want a quiet relaxing time with some top quality golf thrown in, this is as good a venue as I have found anywhere. Thoroughly recommended.

This is a large, new, modern, quiet home in an excellent location in the resort. It is about 200m from the golf club, 100m from the tennis centre, the pool for the apartment is on the other side so there is no noise. The main road through the resort is on the other side so again there is no noise. It has many balconies and a peaceful view.
