We had amazing stay at Gus and Gertrude’s. It was a perfect base camp for our fall salmon fishing adventure. It was so nice to come back to a cozy cabin after cold long days on the river. Gus and Gertrude were amazing hosts, highly recommend

This is a very nice place to relax and explore up and down the Nova Scotia coast. The hosts are so friendly and generous (the welcome basket was fantastic!!). There are nice views in every direction and the place is very well equipped and very clean. Such a quiet place to sit outside and just take in the views.

Our family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cabin! The only thing better than the home and the grounds are Gus and Gert - they are so welcoming, generous, and gracious! We hope to be back many times.

We had an excellent stay! Gus and Gert were there to greet us when we arrived and made is feel very welcome. They truly went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped with everything we could possibly need, which made our stay even more comfortable and enjoyable.Everything was exceptionally clean. We really appreciated all the extra touches and care. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay!

An exceptional stay from beginning to end. Our hosts, Gus and Gert, were incredibly warm and inviting, and attentive to our needs.The property is fabulous with views from all angles. And it’s clear that it was built with love and pride.The thoughtfulness in the accommodations was what we were most impressed with. Thank you for making our stay feel likehome. We can’t wait to return!

Great cottage, stunning views, outstanding hosts. Gus and Gert were wonderful hosts. They personally greeted us and made us feel right at home. They even left a lovely welcome basket that is something we’ve never been treated to by a host in the past. They gave us helpful information before we arrived and also had an extensive list of local amenities. We have never stayed in a more picturesque location. Not only are the views from the cottage gorgeous, there are lovely views of the river. Don’t miss hiking down to the river through their emerald forest.

Gus and Gert were absolutely top notch hosts and were wonderful to talk with. They came personally to walk us through the property (they live next door;) and had a fantastic welcome basket which was much appreciated. Gus gave us great local recommendations and we loved all of them including the Chimney Corner beach which we really enjoyed. The cabin is well appointed with high quality toiletries and appliances throughout. The views are stunning and there is a wonderful hike to a great Salmon river right down the hill. We can't recommend this place enough and we look forward to a return trip one day. Heartfelt thanks to G & G!

The cabin was a perfect location with gorgeous views. The welcome basket was amazing with all kinds of goodies in it! The cabin had everything in it that we could have needed. We loved our visit with Gus and Gert. We highly recommend their cabin!

Beautiful stay

We really loved our stay at this cozy cabin. It was well located (minutes from a lovely beach and 30 minutes from the National Park) and the hosts were wonderful. Would absolutely stay again. Thank you!

I told Gus and Gert their place was a slice of heaven and it was. They are great hosts. The home is very cute. The views from the house were amazing. We even had fawns visit us. The golf fairway was a lot of fun and we are not even golfers. The porch and deck were wonderful to sit on and listen to the birds. Wildlife, rainbows and beautiful scenery abound. When we got to the home Gert and Gus met us and had a wonderful gift basket made for us. They were very helpful. The house was fully stocked and very comfortable and immaculately clean. The location is great. Only about a 20-25 minute drive to either Cheticamp or Inverness. I could go on and on about this place. I just loved every little bit of it. Thank you so much to our wonderful hosts!

Beautiful cottage

This was our second time staying at Margaree-a-ville and once again it was simply perfect. Beautiful location with amazing views. The cottage was very clean, had everything we needed, and our hosts were just wonderful, so kind and friendly. Highly recommend this place

A special place

Gus & Gurt were wonderful host. We had an amazing week. The cottage was perfect for or family and we really enjoyed the amazing views! Close great beaches and lots to explore.

If you're looking for the perfect place to stay in Cape Breton, look no further than Margarita-ville Cottage in Margaree Harbour! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that our hosts were committed to creating an unforgettable experience. Their white glove hospitality was second to none, with thoughtful touches throughout the cottage that made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. The cottage was spotless, beautifully appointed, and had everything we could possibly need. Every detail had been considered, making it feel more like staying with dear friends than in a vacation rental. The hosts truly went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable, relaxing, and extra special. The location is ideal for exploring the beauty of the Cabot Trail and the Margaree Valley, yet it also offers the perfect peaceful retreat to come home to each day. This wasn't just a place to stay, it was one of the highlights of our trip. We left feeling grateful for the kindness and generosity of our hosts and can't wait to return. Five stars simply aren't enough. Highly, highly recommended!

Our experience at Gus & Gert's cottage was memorable. They are warm, kind, welcoming and helpful hosts. The cabin is perfectly located, well equiped and quite spacious for a small family. We could not have wished for a better place to stay in Cape Breton!

Private Cottage

A lovely and private cottage. We absolutely enjoyed the scenic views. The hosts were responsive to our requests. Although there is no AC, the nights cooled and we slept comfortably.
