Relaxation under the stars.

We have rented many properties and this by far the best. Secluded and very quiet. All expectations met and surpassed. Wonderful stay. We will be back.

Peaceful 😌

We had a lovely stay here. This is such a beautiful property. Everything was so clean and the owner made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Blue skies and chirping birds every morning, it was absolutely blissful. The walking trails and property are immaculately well kept. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a break away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Look forward to returning!

Don't wait, book it now!

Just spent 3 great nights at the Beaver Hills Retreat. Probably the best VRBO experience we've ever had. It's like staying at a highly manicured, botanical garden. The house is beautiful, well designed and well equipped with higher end appliances. We loved the peaceful location out in the country with the Elk Island National Park just 5 minutes away. We drove over every day at sunrise or sunset and saw bison, elk, coyotes, and more water fowl than you can imagine. Even though we didn't see the Northern Lights, Beaver Hills is right next to a dark sky preserve and there is a big north facing window upstairs that is a perfect place to keep a lookout. Finally, Sheryl is a super friendly, great host. Cheers

Amazing place

Wonderful property, beautifully maintained. Great to visit Elk Island Park as it's mere minutes away. Perfect place to enjoy the night sky, bird watching, and walking in the forest. A perfect place to relax.

Great Getaway!

This is a great little hideaway, whether you want to relax, hike the trails at Elk Island National Park or both! Such a beautiful piece of property and if you like birds, this is this spot, take your binoculars! I can't wait to vist again!

Paradise

My husband and I needed some getaway time from the city. This cabin was a jewel in beautiful farm and ranch lands. We enjoyed the walks, and the peace and quiet. We didn't wander far because we were here to relax. Thank you to the hosts for your quality care. If we needed anything Sheryl and her husband were there to help but always felt like we had our privacy.

A LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN CLOSE TO HOME

We had the best most relaxing time. The Cabin was extremely clean and comfortable. Definitely above our expectations. It was great to just enjoy the peacefulness and listen to the many variety of birds in the area. The owner went above and beyond. She is a very friendly and amazing host. I would certainly recommend this property if you are looking for peace and tranquility where you don't have to travel far.

Home away from home

The layout of the property gives the visitors privacy and seclusion. A well thought out courtyard and tree groupings attracts many species of birds. The purple Martin houses appeared to have full occupancy as did the swallow boxes scattered through out the property. There are a couple of trails around the property. We saw deer and coyotes. The house is cozy, clean and efficient. The large windows face the courtyard. The hosts were right next door beyond the private courtyard if we needed anything. Elk Island is just minutes away. I would certainly recommend this vacation spot and we certainly plan on coming again.

Feeling Rested and Relaxed!

Beaver Hills Retreat was such a fantastic find! The accommodations are clean and comfortable and contain everything you need. Sheryl is the perfect hostess - she was there when we needed her, easy to get a hold of her, and made sure we had what we needed. Beautiful and quiet surroundings. Great walking paths. I loved my weekend away and came back feeling rested and ready for another week. I can't wait to go to Beaver Hills Retreat again.

Fantastic Getaway!

This property was absolutely perfect for a quick getaway from the city. It was quiet and comfortable. The hosts were so accommodating when we couldn't get the wifi to work (our fault, not theirs). We couldn't have asked for a better long weekend.

Fantastic

What a wonderful place to spend a few days!! The cottage is so cozy and comfortable, and without a doubt the cleanest vacation rental I have ever stayed in. Sheryl goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need, and the personal touches and little extras just add to an already wonderful experience. The grounds are are beautiful and very well maintained. The sounds of nature and the stars at night are incredible. Can't wait to return!!

Incredible, just as advertised.

My wife and I stayed at the Beaver Hills Retreat for our honeymoon and firmly agreed we want to make it a yearly trip. It's so peaceful and quiet, only birds singing and maybe the odd Cessna that flies far overhead. At night, it's almost eerie with how quiet it is, we could only hear the faint sound of coyotes every so often. Also, this property is located in the Beaver Hills UNESCO Biosphere which hosts 1 of only 13 Dark-Sky Preserves in all of Canada, so it's quite a treat to turn off all the lights when the sun goes down and admire the night sky. If you need anything, Sheryl is a prompt and hospitable host. While she lives nearby, you would never know as she leaves you fully undisturbed with complete privacy. The layout of the property is gorgeous and well-maintained. Vibrant flowers, trees, and quality stonework make the exterior feel more luxurious than it already is. The interior has an open concept, high-ceiling layout with large windows so it's bright even on a cloudy day. I know these days, a lot of people are especially looking for cleanliness in a prospective vacation home and I can vouch for this property that it is well looked after and clean. The first thing we do when checking into any travel destination is inspect the bedding, mattress, and upholstery for bed bugs, so we're pleased to say we found nothing but clean fabric. Some things to keep in mind; - There is a barbecue on the patio but you'll need to supply your own propane cylinder. - They offer firewood for sale if you forget or didn't bring enough (inquire about cost & supply.) - Mosquitoes are prevalent in the warmer months so don't forget to pack repellant. ** If you are a light sleeper, consider using the main floor bedroom instead. Being in the country, it's not unheard of to hear critters like chipmunks scampering over the roof in the morning. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough for all types of travelers. Elk Island has many activities for kids, and the cabin provides a warm, inviting atmosphere to get little ones settled in quickly (not to mention large swathes of grass for playing!) As for adults, bask in the serenity of the country life with a glass of wine and enjoy every moment this safe haven has to offer from the ever-growing urban sprawl we've become all too familiar with. Thanks again for a truly memorable vacation, Sheryl! We'll be back next year.

Peaceful retreat with nature

We had an amazing time at the Beaver Hills Retreat. The first thing we were impressed with is how adorable the cabin is and how clean it was. It was pouring rain when we arrived so our first night was spent watching movies on a big screen TV and a comfy couch. The beds are awesome. The next few days we spent most of our time outside watching birds! This place is like a bird sanctuary. I actually had to get an app on my phone to help identify all of them. We even got to watch a swallow building a next on the cabin. Really enjoyed walking the trails around the property. One trail takes you through a forest and the others are in meadows. There are a few ponds where you can see even more birds! Sheryl was more than accommodating and helpful with everything we needed. This was really perfect for us as we really wanted a place to unwind, some peaceful quiet and away from the bustle of the city. We will definitely return!

making new memories

Sheryl was such a gracious host, who welcomed us and accommodated us extensively during our stay. The cabin was charming and comfortable, and very well equipped for those who like cooking. We were able to have a small brunch with old friends and xcountry ski a bit around the property, which was truly a delight. Thank you so much for this opportunity, Sheryl! We will be back!

Great cabin getaway close to the city and less than 5 minutes to Elk Island National Park

We were immediately impressed with how spotless and well decorated the cabin was, you can see that Sheryl takes a lot of pride in making everything perfect for you. It was very cold out but the in floor heat and gas fireplace keep you very warm and cozy. Right out the door you have access to your own trail system through the bush, everything was perfect and Sheryl was a great host! We will definitely return in the spring to see the migratory birds.
