Bears Among Us is VERY close to DT Gatlinburg, Ober Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Park Entrances. My log home was thankfully not taken during the great fire of 2016 and is made hand-hewn logs unlike all of the newer homes recently built. The bears actively go by my house and often explore my deck or try to get into guests cars. Guests have sent so many pictures over the years. I love Chalet Village North and my house which is not on the main road so much more privacy and little traffic. It is conveniently accessible from two of the main roads. We finally choose our name after a mom and her two baby bears visited us several times (actually walking up onto our deck and looking around).
Getting Around is a SNAP. Go down Wiley Oakley to get to Pigeon Forge or down Ski Mountain Road to get to Downtown Gatlinburg. Bears Among Us is on Oak Place which is a road that see's little traffic. There is only two other homes up our road and both sit behind my house. So you can sit on the front porch looking toward Mt. LeConte with you cup of coffee in your PJs. It looks east toward the mountains and we have no other houses below us as so many other do. It is in a more private location in the heart of the mountainside. We see No Roofs and only a view of the Great Smokey Mountain's. We are high enough and away from the road, unlike many homes for rent, so you can jump into the hot tub or trot out to the Charcoal Grill in whatever type of outfit you might have on.
Bears Among Us is a true log cabin with a comfortable interior with large couches and chairs, a nice eat in dining table and fully appointed kitchen. The bathrooms are all done in tile and bling and there are two large king beds. A Full Size Smudge Proof Stainless Steel Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Microwave, Stove and Under Mount Sink is ready for you. And yes we have plenty of dishes so you can cook "at home" if you want. There is a crockpot, mixer, skillets, pots and pans plus some sugar and spice and everything nice. We often use VRBO when we are travel and do not like going into a totally empty place that doesn't even have the basic daily household amenities.
The home has two bedrooms of which one is located in the loft. At the top of the stairs is a nook with a fold down Futon. It has a 42" table and an Xbox, so we call it the gaming nook. . installed a brand new Gaming Nook in the loft. There is a King Size bed along with another full sized bath with a built in cabinet where you can keep all your grooming and beauty supplies while at Bears Among Us.
The downstairs bedroom has a corner juccuzi tub. The tub includes a heater that comes on when the whirlpool is turned on. It is a great experience to be able to lounge in the tub while watching your favorite show on the flat panel TV that is mounted to the wall. This can be articulated to view from the bathtub or the bed, wonderful. Above the tub are some dimmable vintage lights that can be set to just the level you want by sliding a small toggle that is part of the switch.
The Master Suite also has a King Sized Master Bed, a Bose Soundlink (so you can play the music you like by just linking your device to the unit) and an LED light system that you can control to get the perfect atmosphere for you.
When you walk into Bears Among Us you will see a stone wood-burning fireplace in the middle of the room with a a 65" Sony Ultra 4K TV above it.
We do not have a Foosball Table, a Pool Table, an Air Hockey Table at this point. Hundred's of other places do but we know that after long day enjoying all the activities that is offered in the Great Smokey Mountains, many people just want to sit down for a relaxing activity in one of the comfy couches or simply cook up a yummy snack to be served at the pub height kitchen table. So we put in the Bose Soundlink, Xbox and a DVD Player.
We are often asked about pets. Our other vacation rental is pet friendly as we love our dogs and they are always with us. We found that there isn't very many pet friendly places in the National Park and when we had some bear visitors we decided that Bears Among Us would not be the best place for pet guests. So although dogs have been in my home before this isn't the place for pet guests.
When you leave Bears Among Us you can get to Pigeon Forge in about 15 minutes and Gatlinburg in 10 minutes or be in the National Park in 8 minutes.
So much to do and what a great home away from home awaits you at Bears Among Us.
