Sandpiper is a low density three story complex. Enjoy watching the waves roll in as you sit on this direct beachfront balcony. This unique V shape building and shared common area walkway in front of each condo lends to a friendly get to know your neighbor atmosphere. Family reunions, large groups of people traveling together and individual families choose this property often. The tropical courtyard, seasonally-heated swimming pool (mid-March through October, as needed) and grilling areas give Sandpiper an ambiance all its own. It is a highly requested property and has the most repeat guests.

Perfect

We love this property. First floor, directly on the beach with a large balcony and porch swing just cannot be beat. Large living area, bedrooms, and bathrooms with beautiful beach views out the windows was just icing on the cake. We will try to stay here every year because we are now spoiled with the best!

This time the only comment I would make is that we were disappointed to have an owner near us with their dog. We rent other properties with "no pet" policies and this is more to our liking. We question the wisdom of the HOA policy??

A recliner was added which was wonderful. We have had the opportunity to see some of the other rentals that have been updated and the very old carpeting is gone. All in all it is a good rental that needs some updating.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Bender Realty is always great to work with. This is our 2nd year at Sandpiper, but 1st time in 8A. We already booked this unit again for 2020! The location is perfect, beach access so easy, the view from the deck is fantastic, the swing on the deck was a favorite, and the pool was great. We meet so many nice people each visit. It is a great place to stay and we will be coming back for years! Suggestions to fix: main bath had anchors in the wall but missing the towel bar, the removable shower head in main bath is pulling out of the wall so bangs constantly each time used.

The beds are comfortable and the balcony looking to the ocean is just what you would want for a getaway. The picture depicts a recliner which we do not have, that addition would be wonderful. Seating space to relax would be enhanced.The carpet and flooring appears to be original and could use updating. The tack strips are coming through transitioning to the hall. As always Bender staff is very responsive to any calls.

Wayyyyy Overpriced for what you’re paying for.

The kitchen is very outdated with old appliances, the furniture is old and outdated, the master bed headboard is still broken from last year. Black mold was painted over in the master bedroom where the back door leads to the deck. Ceiling in the living room is cracked, sagging, and deteriorating. For the amount of money that the owners charge to rent this place, you would expect better quality and amenities. The owners continue to raise the price every year with absolutely zero upgrades.

The decoration is warm and welcoming, overall pretty clean.It could use some updating with the floors, there were some edges the carpet had worn and we could feel the tacks. The picture shows a recliner but there was not one in the unit. Also the dressers were minimal. One tall one and one small one for both bedrooms. It would be a nice addition to have drawer space available. As always Gulf Shores is a wonderful location and Benders is very accommodating. Hoping to be back next year for sure.

Does this unit need a bit of updating, Yes it does. Did we have a great time despite, yes we did! The cleaning crew could be more detailed or even once a month do a major clean. We pay good money for the cleaning it should be better.The pool, the beach, the other renters made our trip so enjoyable! We were able to grill out with multiple families or just by ourselves! The property was going through a major cleanup on the outside the week we were there.

However, it could use a very thorough cleaning, vents, a new toilet seat and updating. Comparing to the other units that have new flooring, updated kitchens and showers instead of tubs this is definitely in need of some TLC. The deck is wonderful, the patio furniture is very nice, but it would be beneficial to remove the swing to allow for utilizing the space. The carpet definitely needs replacing. There was the recliner that was added, very nice to kick back. All in all I would consider renting again.

The chairs are ok, but to lean back for a quick nap would be great. Also a good review of the cupboards would be good. Over time supplies accumulated and there are about 50 plates and duplicate utensils. I didn’t count the plates but all the extras take up precious space. These things are only suggestions because I am planning to book for next year. Because of our lengthy stay i would be ok organizing a few of those things. I would put the extras in a box for owner review.

We Love this Unit

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been trying to get this unit for years and finally got it. The view is phenomenal. The inside of the unit is comfortable. The carpet has needed to be replaced from what I could tell for years now. It’s worn, thin, and looks dirty. The flatscreen in the living room is small and outdated. Everything else was great. The only issue we had with our stay is the neighboring Bender property “Caribbean”. They are evidently a pet friendly location and all day, all night, we had dogs barking, howling, whining, whimpering on their balconies. Loud enough to where it would wake us up at night and in the mornings. We have rented this unit again for next year and hope we don’t have to deal with the noisy animals next door.

Price is finally too much to justify

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We've stayed at the Sandpiper (and in this specific room) for years. We love it -- but due to price increases, this will likely be the last year we stay. Don't get us wrong -- location and staff are great -- but for the amount of updates/upgrades/amenities available -- the price increases over the past few years have, in our opinion, been unjustified. The building is starting to get a bit outdated, elevator is problematic, cleaning crew is passable at best -- there's always something left undone or not quite clean (dishes were horrible). 8A, one of the more expensive rooms, is WAY too outdated for the price being charged. For the price being paid, there are better options out there.

Reviewer Comments: The rates keep jumping every single year and have now surpassed the price for two, plus airfare to all-inclusive to Aruba. I love the unit and its location, but the furniture is broken, outdated, dirty, black mold around the doorway out to the patio, mold on the mattress cover, sheets were stained and filthy. The location is great and very convenient to the pool and beach and the views are awesome, but this unit is WAY overpriced for the value. For $4k+ for 7 days, that place should look like a King Suite at the Hilton, but, it looks like a very old apartment with some fresh paint and flooring in the kitchen and living room. I’ve rented this unit for years but because of the price going up higher and higher, I doubt I will rent after next year. It’s just too much for what little value and the dirtiness that you get. You pay for the view and that’s pretty much it.

Would recommend a dustpan for the amount of sand that accumulates over the week. The location of the property is ideal for beachgoers. The beach is very pretty. Will most likely return to Sandpiper!
