The setting is lovely and, with some investment and maintenance, this could easily become a very pleasant place to stay again.Unfortunately, the property is currently in serious need of refurbishment. I have reviewed around 40 holiday properties and always try to be fair and helpful. This is the first poor review I have left. I contacted the host first with photographic evidence but received no response. Had I not been staying with my five-year-old granddaughter, we would have left on the first day.The sofas are ripped and faded, with stained throws covering the damage. The voiles, skirting boards, rugs and fans were dirty, several lights did not work, and the laminate flooring is lifting, with a loose threshold strip creating a trip hazard. The fire pit is overgrown and unusable. The toys advertised are mostly broken, very old, and some are mouldy. The kitchen table remained sticky even after cleaning, one chair was unusable, and the kitchen equipment was inadequate, with only two blunt, mismatched knives in the block. The quilt had numerous stains, including what appeared to be blood, raising concerns about cleanliness. One wardrobe had collapsed and another was propped up on bundles of paper. The pool turned green with algae and was closed on our final day. Finally, the smoke alarm was not fitted to the ceiling. Only the mounting plate remained, while the alarm itself was sitting on top of the fridge-freezer.We left feeling disappointed, and deceived.
