What better way to experience Savannah than in an authentic historic home!

Why choose our circa 1891 Victorian home? Authenticity! We dearly love the beautiful city of Savannah that we call home and particularly love old houses and all things old...we love the stories and memories that antique architecture and vintage furnishings can tell (I am a 'talker', so if you ask me I will share them all!) The home is affectionately nicknamed "The Stella" for Miss Stella Strous who lived in this home for 87 years and rented out the adjacent homes. Today our family continues this legacy and hope to share Miss Stella's home with you as well.

Spacious for a large group to enjoy each other's company while visiting and exploring the beautiful city of Savannah. Quirky and fun decor to fit the festive mood when on vacation. Located in the historic Victorian District, just 2.5 blocks south of enchanting Forsyth Park, the largest park in all of historic downtown Savannah. Enjoy 2 designated off-street parking spaces or close enough to walk downtown for the active and able-bodied. The home is 1.2 miles straight out the door down to the cobblestones of River Street, the most northern boundary of the Landmark Historic District. The home is situated near the corner of a main arterial street in Savannah, so traffic noise and the occasional siren is to be expected as downtown is an active urban center. (Ask about our adjacent homes, "The Janie", listing #675585" or "The Clara", listing #675595, or read years of positive reviews as these adjacent homes have accommodated thousands of visitor's over the past several years.)

Things to consider prior to booking: We require a minimum age of 25 years to rent. 3-night minimum stay may be required on weekends, so please inquire for a quote prior to booking. Can guests in your party comfortably climb stairs or step into a claw-foot tub? While we do have a full bath on the first level of the home, all bedrooms are located upstairs as is the 2nd full bath. We welcome courteous and respectful guests and will not tolerate a 'party-house' (i.e. loud or drunken behavior). We are more than happy to answer questions, so please inquire.

Family Girls Getaway

Our stay at the Stella was exactly what I wanted for our mother/daughter/sister/cousins getaway. The quirkiness and age of the house were fun and whimsical. We had all that we needed and were greeted by Carmen and Nick when we arrived. They were very personable and helpful. We had a lot of fun making memories and enjoying the beautiful city of Savannah.

Wonderful stay!

The property was eclectic and fun! Lots of attention to detail and super clean. There was lots of seating for guests in the common areas, and the beds were super comfortable. The property was also in a great location. It was very near to SCAD, shopping, and restaurants. I had wonderful communication with the property manager, and she was super helpful! my entire family stayed for the weekend, and we would definitely stay here again! I can't say enough good things about the property!

Great accommodations + location for low key bachelorette weekend

I booked The Stella for my sister’s bachelorette weekend. We absolutely adored this property! There was plenty of room for us and we were very impressed with how spacious the house is. It was a great location for walking to local coffee shops, stores, and restaurants. Because we were such a large group, we did opt to Uber/Lyft to a couple locations on/near River St just to save time, but when we had extra time we did walk to/from Forsyth Park and throughout other areas near the home’s location. The kitchen was fully stocked with every kitchen utensil and appliance we needed to make brunch before heading out each day. Communicating with the owners Jon & Carmen was very easy, Carmen was quick to respond to any questions/communications I had for her and she even dropped something off to the house that I needed that the house just happened to not have before we went out to a store to get it. The check-in/check-out process was also very smooth, and I appreciated the option to pay a small fee for a guaranteed early check-in as my flight landed much earlier than the designated check-in time. Overall, myself, my sister, and her friends all had a great time and I absolutely would recommend Jon & Carmen for any future rentals!

Perfect for Our Group

We had a group of 9, mostly teens visiting. Ample space for everyone here! The beds were really comfy. The group loved staying in this house, and we even re-arranged our schedule to spend more time at the home. We made most of our meals there, and this is the most fully-stocked kitchen rental I have ever used. All of the utensils, pots, pans, glassware, etc you could need are there. Per our request, Carmen even dropped off a crock pot. We found an InstaPot after, and easily could have used that too. Carmen was kind enough to have a whole coffee set up, which is essential for our group. Carmen was very responsive to anything we needed, and made the booking and arrival process very easy. It was great to have parking for two full size cars right at the house, since parking in Savannah is difficult! We have people with mobility issues, so we did choose to drive into the historic area, which is an easy drive. If we felt better, it would have been an easy walk to Forsyth park, and able to get the free shuttle from there around Savannah. Our group really did love staying here, and I would book this, or any other property Carmen has in an instant!

My family and I came down to house hunt in the Savannah area and opted to stay at "the Stella" as we also wanted to explore the city. We were not disappointed!! The house was not only everything the listing promised, our hosts Carmen and Jonathan thought of everything. From salt and pepper to toiletries. Every time we asked if we had something - we found it in one of the cupboards. We had a great welcome with a personalized sign and chocolates. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious. And then there was the location!! You are just minutes away from River Street and the Historic District. We couldn't have asked for more!! I would highly recommend this property!! Thanks for a wonderful stay Carmen!!

Amazing Hosts

We had an amazing time in Savannah, we spent two nights with our daughters. The house was perfect place to spend time. Our second night we had severe weather alerts and Carmen made sure that we were aware, stayed informed, and safe. The dining room table was the perfect place to make a jigsaw puzzle and wait for the weather to pass.

The parade route/staging area on St. Patrick's Day literally starts here! Wake up to the bagpipes and watch the floats prepare in the staging area down Abercorn St!

The size of this house will allow larger parties to comfortably vacation together and the location allows you to walk to the grocery store (Kroger or Brighter Day) as well as restaurants and tourist attractions. The designated free parking is highly sought after as well.

“The Stella” has accommodated hundreds of vacationers over the years including many families, family reunions, Christmas vacations, Spring Break, girl’s getaway weekends, bachelorette parties, wedding parties, corporate housing, snowbirds, and groups for choral, dance, and gymnastic competitions. Whether in town for SCAD family weekend, Sidewalk Arts, graduation, Savannah Music Festival, Savannah Book Festival, or the Rock n Roll Marathon, we want you to have a wonderful stay where the only problem is that you won’t want to leave!
