Bright and spacious apartment with garden access in the heart of the charming Mile Ex neighbourhood, Casa Jardin is a beautiful and calm apartment located just a 5-10 minute walk to the heart of the hustle and bustle of Little Italy, Jean Talon Market, and Jarry Park.

With garden access, this place has a vibrant yet peaceful vibe that is ideal for single travellers and couples. Your apartment is located in “the most interesting area in town” according to Vogue Magazine, across from the iconic Dépanneur Le Pick Up, where locals and tourists alike travel to for its tasty bites, laid back atmosphere and eclectic social scene.

LIVING ROOM: Access the apartment directly from the quiet street where you will enter a spacious living room with lots of natural light and plants. The room is equipped with a vintage mid-century couch set and coffee table, dimmable light sources, vintage Persian carpet, and a library of literature. The dining table with 2 chairs can double as an adequate work station.
Other amenities include high-speed internet, games, a sound system with wireless connection, as well as a record player with a vinyl collection.

KITCHEN: The kitchen overlooks the garden and is well-equipped with stainless steel fridge, stove, dishwasher, manual coffee makers (french press, pour over), and an electric kettle. Complimentary tea and locally roasted coffee are provided. You’ll also find everything you need to cook most meals on the stove or in the oven, including pots and pans, dishes, cutlery, oils, vinegar and spices.

BATHROOM: Cosy and clean bathroom. Equipped with a combined bath and shower with local and organic complimentary shampoo, conditioner and body soap. There is closed and open storage for your toiletries, etc. Bathroom linens (face, hand and bath towels) and toilet paper are provided, as is a hair dryer.

LAUNDRY CLOSET: Guests have access to the laundry closet which includes a washing and drying machine, complimentary detergent, iron, broom, Dyson vacuum, and cleaning supplies.

BEDROOM: The bright and calm bedroom has a door that opens to the backyard, allowing you to wake up to the sound of chirping birds and peaceful murmurs of the post-industrial nature-infused Mile Ex life. This room has a dimmable light source, 2 windows that open for fresh air, closet with hangers and shelves, vintage dresser, and a mirror. There is a super comfortable ENDY queen mattress (the #1 mattress recommended by the Canadian Chiropractic Association) with fresh cotton linens, and both memory foam and feather pillow options.

BACKYARD: Private acacia wood patio equipped with chairs, table and hammock in a peaceful garden (landscaping in progress). There are dimmable string lights for the evening. Please note that the other half of the yard, beyond the installed bamboo divider, belongs to the adjacent neighbor.
*Spring/Summer 2025 - There is a construction project happening behind the unit, which may cause some sound disturbance on some mornings + afternoons during the week.

AIR CONDITIONING: The apartment remains very cool in temperature as it’s on the main floor right off the garden. We have fans installed in each main room and these seem to be sufficient for most summer days and evenings and most of our guests have found that air conditioning is not needed. With that said, we will have an air conditioner unit available from June 15-September 15th.

TRANSPORT: The apartment is located within walking distance to many transportation options. There are also several Bixi rental stands nearby where you can rent a bike, as well as many bike lanes and paths.
Metro: 8 minute walk to the blue metro line (Castelnau and Parc Stations), 14 min walk to the orange metro line (Jean Talon Station)
Bus: Short walks to the 55 St Laurent (4 minutes) and 80 Parc (8 minutes).

THE AREA: From Vogue Magazine:
“It’s just a stone’s throw from the vibrant, colorful Jean-Talon Market, in Montreal’s Little Italy, and an equally short hop from the boho-verging-on-bourgeois Mile End neighborhood, but Montreal’s Mile-Ex feels like a lost enclave, a bubble unto itself… Today, the Mile-Ex is now the most interesting area in town, with cafés, restaurants, art-filled factories, and all the things that nurture and cultivate a creative crowd… Long a largely industrial area, for years the neighborhood didn’t even really have a name. It has been called Marconi-Alexandra. Some tried WeLIta (West of Little Italy), but that didn’t stick. But it was a restaurant that opened in 2012 with the name Mile-Ex that ultimately stuck. Because many of the homes here were slated for demolition, it also became a beacon for experimental contemporary architecture and has been called the ‘quartier des architectes’… It’s a neighborhood as nonlinear in spirit as it is geographically, with streets of weirdly designed fits, starts, and dead ends. On a short stretch, you may see a single scruffy home and an old brick warehouse sharing a backyard. Businesses that are marked use blink-and-you’ll-miss them signs. You could walk by a garage and never know that behind it is Montreal’s grooviest bar. It’s a place that asks you to do a little hunting and foraging for its treasures.”

From Time Out Magazine: “A brawny, former-industrial chunk of western Little Italy, this area has coalesced into a hip incubator for new businesses in the last few years. With the influx of a new generation of young professionals that have moved into the district’s historic lofts and warehouses, a wave of new development has been ushered in. Canadian terroir restaurant Manitoba, Southern BBQ joint Dinette Triple Crown, chic bar/brewery Haricanna, and restaurant Mile-Ex—a trendsetting eatery where the neighbourhood got its name—are all great examples of what makes this neighbourhood pop.”

Mile Ex is also an AI, technology, and design hub, with Microsoft and other AI companies having their offices in the area.

Our favorite things about the neighborhood, depending on the season:
*Go for a relaxing walk and explore the iconic “ruelle vertes” (green back alleys) of Mile Ex, see what’s growing, and run into some interesting architecture (Mile-Ex is known as ‘quartier des architectes’).
*Grab some of the best brunch sandwiches in the city at Depanneur Le Pickup.
*Grab a delicious coffee at the super cute dog-friendly cafe around the corner, Noble Cafe.
*Go for a snack stroll in the amazing Jean-Talon Market, where chefs get fresh and local ingredients from.
*Sit under willow trees by the pond at Jarry Parc, our neighborhood green oasis, where you can also find a free outdoor public pool and various sporting facilities and fields.
*Go for a walk through Little Italy’s unpredictable and fun streets, traditional Italian cafes, boutiques, bakeries, specialty grocery stores and many restaurants.
PARKING: Parking is free of charge on many residential streets, including ours. While it’s not guaranteed, most of our guests are able to find street parking out front. Please note you will likely need to move your car once a day onto the other side of the street to ensure the neighbourhood has access to the local services it needs. More precise directions are included in our Arrival Guide.

EARLY CHECK IN/LATE CHECK OUT: We understand that flights or transportation to or from Montreal is not always timed perfectly with check-in and check-out times, so we are happy to help arrange early check in or out, if possible (no booking before or after you), for a small fee of $25 CAD per hour. Superb location

We had a great time checking out the many neighborhoods and districts of Montreal. The apartment is well located for access to bus, subway and rental bikes. Fabulous meals in Little Italy’s restaurants and the Jean Talon Market is a short walk away.

Little gem in Little Italy

We loved the property! Cool in the middle of a heat wave, outdoor space, clean and spacious… it was perfect. There are lots of shops around ( including a dépanneur less than a minute away) and Little Italy within minutes… A foodie’s dream! Strongly recommended, we’re hoping to be back soon…

Oasis in the city

I’ve stayed at this beautiful apartment for a couple of nights. It’s in a great neighborhood and has a small green backyard that’s perfect for having your coffee in the morning. The communication was very smooth and friendly.

Great location in Mile-Ex

The place was as advertised - clean, with everything we needed for a weekend getaway. Ashley and Navid communicated ahead of time on everything we needed for check-in. To be honest, we didn't spend much time at the place because we were too busy checking out the amazing neighbourhood! Great location and walking distance to some awesome Montreal neighbourhoods.

The cozy apartment was in a quiet neighborhood. 5-10 min walk to multiple restaurants ( Hurricana Brasserie, Impasto, Bottega), bakeries ( Louise - very good croissants that were buttery and crunchy), across from Caffe Italia ( very good coffee) 15 min walk to Jean Talon Metro - easy ride to downtown / Old Port of Montreal

Lovely, peaceful stay

We had a great stay at Ashley and Navid's place! The apartment was peaceful, sunlit and had everything we needed. We enjoyed drinking a glass of wine on the patio at night. The mattress was extremely comfortable. Mile-Ex was such a fun neighborhood - close to lots of restaurants and bars, the Jean-Talon market, and public transit options. Ashley and Navid were warm and communicative. We would definitely stay again!

Serenity in Mile Ex

Over the years I have stayed in many short-term rentals and hotels in various Montreal neighbourhoods, and this is without a doubt my favourite. The space is very peaceful with a sweet back garden, and the location is perfect for exploring Mile Ex and adjacent areas. Ashley and Navid went out of their way to ensure my comfort and enjoyment. I hope to return soon. Thanks to both of you!

Mile-Ex Gem!!

We had a very relaxing stay in this clean, ground-level, light-filled Mile-Ex apartment. The hosts were easy to reach, quick to respond, and communicated clearly. The neighborhood is fun to explore and wonderfully quiet at night. Walk to the Jean Talon Market and nearby grocery shops if you’d prefer to cook at home. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a great meal. We also enjoyed some wonderful Indian food delivered from Harry’s Curry Corner. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Montreal.

The apartment was spotless, the communication excellent and the entry instructions clear. it was likely a good value. But the apartment is modest (small, minimal furnishings, no TV or microwave), and the neighborhood was without charm. We did not realize how far it was from the sites we were interested in seeing--our bad.

Thanks for the feedback, Vaughn. The apartment is 705 square feet, plenty large for the 2 person maximum we allow. We do not advertise a tv or microwave in the amenities we provide and ask guests to do their due diligence in research before choosing an apartment to suit their travel needs. Over the past few years, Mile Ex has been named one of the top neighborhoods by many outlets, but we recognize its post-industrial charm may not be for everyone.

A perfect spot in a wonderful neighborhood

This is not a huge apartment but it is thoughtfully laid out and in perfect working order. I came here with a stiff neck that had been bothering me for weeks, but the terrific bed and pillows here somehow cured it! The place is spotless, with numerous thoughtful touches, particularly a large bag of wonderful ground coffee. I do believe this neighborhood is one of the nicest in all the world --and one of the most delicious, too! The hosts were lightning fast in answering a couple of my questions, and when I return to Montreal I hope their jewel of an apartment is available.

Good Stay in Quiet Neighbourhood

Very clean ground floor apartment in quiet neighbourhood. We were visiting our son and disappointed that there were only two dining chairs. Understand completely not wanting to encourage large gatherings however it was difficult to enjoy the full kitchen when we couldn't sit at the dining table with him. The general location map also seemed inaccurate when we booked (other side of Saint Laurent) but that seems to have been corrected. Overall, we would recommend this apartment though.
