Wonderful rental situated in a gorgeous natural setting. The unit has all the amenities to make for a comfortable stay. Beautiful walks start at this front door. Very comfortable for a 3 person stay although you could probably put someone on the front room sofa. If you are shy, you may be uncomfortable with no window shades on the side or back windows. The only true negative is the spiral staircase leading to the loft. It is very narrow with a short handrail. Not for the faint of heart. We enjoyed the setting so much we will probably return.

As for your comment about the shades, we plan to install some type of shade on the back windows, even though they open to the forest behind the house, and there is no one who can look in from that area. The spiral staircase is narrow, as seen in the photos, so folks should be vigilant when going up or down it. At this time, we are making some significant expansions and improvements to the place that you’ll be happy to see should you return. Private location perfect size

This was the second time I stayed at this property and really do love it. It is close enough to my family in Ridgefield for me to fee like I am just around the corner, while being in a quiet, peaceful private property. The setup was perfect for myself and my mom, but could also accommodate a larger group. It isn’t a big space, but had everything that we needed. I would highly recommend this property and will definitely be looking to stay here again on another visit. Thank you!

Hosts were very accommodating, and house was clean. However, with the space you get the price feels a little excessive. The house is very small, along with the beds. My partner and I are both 5’11, so it was quite difficult to move about and sleep comfortably. The beds were very comfortable, however not ideal for tall people. We loved the back porch, had a lots of great seating options, we also loved sleeping with the screen door open in the loft area. The location was also not conducive to vehicles, the roads are very narrow. Also the house is remote, so no Ubers or Lyfts will come (FYI).

Thank you for your feedback—we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We’re genuinely sorry that the sleeping arrangement didn’t provide the comfort you were hoping for. We understand how much a restful night contributes to an enjoyable stay. While we haven’t received similar concerns in the past two years, our goal is to expand the downstairs bedroom and add a queen-size bed, which we believe will address this. We’re glad you enjoyed the back porch, and we agree that the breeze through the upstairs loft screen door is especially refreshing this time of year. Many guests appreciate the property’s remote location, which offers the quiet and relaxation that makes a perfect getaway. We hope you’ll consider returning to South Salem in the future and are grateful you chose to stay with us.

Alone In A Cabin in the Woods

Everything was easy and fine at the space. I had to stay for family reasons - so "location" was the most important factor to me. The worst thing in the unit is that the spiral stair is narrow - and a fat person or person with bad knees is NOT going to be using that stairwell easily. Otherwise, the unit had everything I needed and was perfectly appointed for an easy weekend stay. Enjoy!
