Located within Gateway Mountain, a 3,000-acre nature preserve and gated community, this charming, custom log cabin is constructed entirely from natural materials, with no sheetrock, paint, or carpet. Your perfect mountain retreat awaits at Dancing Bears Cabin! Nestled on a tranquil 6-acre property in the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, wake up to stunning sunrises over rolling peaks, as this mountainside log cabin reveals a new horizon masterpiece with each season.

About the Home
• Well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and drip-style coffee maker
• Dining area with seating for 6
• Living room with comfortable seating, a dedicated workspace, and Dish TV
• Covered deck with rocking chairs and outdoor dining, overlooking beautiful mountain views
• Open-air outdoor dining area and park-style charcoal grill

Important to Note: The driveway is steep, but paved. During the colder winter months (from December through March), icy and/or snowy road conditions and delayed snowplow operations are possible within the development. We strongly recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles and travel insurance throughout the year, but especially for those staying in the Gateway Mountain development during the winter months. No parking is allowed on roadways or at gate entrances. No RVs, boat trailers, camping trailers, or trailers of any kind are permitted in the Gateway Mountain Community.

Winter getaway

This year we decided to go to North Carolina al for our Yearly winter vacation..We found Dancing Bears and were not disappointed, it was just as advertised, away from it all but not too far ..The management team was great and was there to answer any questions we had.Would definitely go back and would recommend it for anyone thinking of taking a trip to the area

We came up for a short weekend getaway. View is great, nice seclusion. Would highly recommend taking the neighborhood hiking trail, beautiful views of waterfalls

Wonderful relaxing time

We had a wonderful and relaxing time. The cabin was immaculate and grey beard was terrific to deal with. We hope to be back. The view was the absolute best!

Great place for a family stay!

Great place for a family stay! Definitely check out the waterfall park within Gateway. Amazing! Ample space for our small family. The only constructive feedback is related to the charcoal grills, which are in need of repair. Overall great stay!

Dancing Bears Cabin

Compact but perfect for our family of five, beautiful setting with long range Mountain views - and we actually saw 2 bears entering the woods beyond the fence next to the property, they were not dancing but seemed very content!

Labor Day retreat

Great time at Dancing Bears cabin in Old Fort NC. Location and cabin were perfect for our long weekend. The cabin is spacious and well appointed. Not recommended if icy roads could be a factor due to driveway slope. But views are spectacular and we even saw a black bear across the fence!! Recommended for all.

Beautiful Mountain top Home

A group of us from work stayed here while riding motorcycles in the Little Switzerland area. It provided the perfect place for us all to stay and rest up. There was plenty of beds and it was very quite and relaxing so we could wind down and rest up after a long hard day of riding. The best part was all of us sitting around the fire at the end of day trading stories. Everything was provided for us and the owners were very friendly and helpful. I would love bring my family back here and enjoy this beautiful home.

Mountain getaway

We had such a great, relaxing time at this house! It is a lovely, clean, well-furnished and well-equipped cabin! We were very comfortable, and it was just perfect for a little retreat! We were delighted to be able to bring our golden retriever -- who also had a great time! Lots of nice long walks! We all loved it! We love the layout of the house. It would be a perfect place to take our grown kids -- and their kids. We would highly recommend this house to anyone wanting to "get away from it all" and enjoy some time to relax and hike.

We loved sitting on the front porch looking at the mountain view. We did have a problem with the coffee maker, but, we bought one and left for the next guests to enjoy. This was the best vacation we have had in a very long time!

Weekend getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family had a wonderful time. Better than I imagined. We did excursions for 2 of the days to Ashville and Chimney Rock both of which the kids (5&8 y/0) and my wife and I had wonderful time. I am already thinking of visiting again and using same cabin as I appreciated it being in gated community and very well maintained and enough outside that I could keep my 2 boys busy.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was the 5th rental we have used at GM and turned out to be the best! Greybeard rental staff was great and communicated regularly providing all needed information and much more. We would stay in this log home again. The only challenge is the slow internet and one bar cellular reception.

Wifi and cell service does tend to have its challenges in the mountains in general.

Fall Fun

I don't even know where to begin. Absolutely amazing! The pictures don't come close to how beautiful this cabin is and how breathtaking the view is. Not to mention the absolute peace and quiet. Just heavenly! It had everything and more that you needed; even down to firewood and starter provided for the fire pit and fireplace. Proximity to Black Mountain, Asheville , Chimney Rock, and Lake Lure is ideal. Lori couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Our family had a wonderful time and would love to go back!!
