We had a great family Thanksgiving utilizing the kitchen and all kitchenware. The place was in very clean condition and well organized and comfortable. We had a great time and hope to make a yearly event inviting my daughter's family (living in Culpepper) and friends.

Isabelle has a beautiful chateau ! Wonderful property!! Being met by Isabelle for check in was a plus! She introduced us to the chateau and the property. We had everything we needed for a fun stay! Would stay here again if we are ever in the area again.!

Perfect Rural Retreat

This is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the scenery. Great Lake view and the house was immaculate. Very rustic but with all the modern amenities. We had family in the area for a wedding. The accommodations could not have been better. Isabella met us upon checkin and gave us a full overview of the place. Highly recommend and our family had a great time.

Perfect family gathering

The place was excellent for time with my sons. We had fun playing Uno, fishing in the lake. We relaxed while touring the Luray caverns and enjoyed the vineyards. I enjoyed the quiet and peacefulness of the location and the lake. The place was exactly as it was described on VRBO. The host was wonderful. She checked us in and then left her number if we needed anything further (we did not). This could be a place we return to!

Excellent stay

The owner met us at the cabin. There were booklets with all local amenities. The weather was wonderful. The view of the lake was so pristine! We were able to have an outdoor pit fire under the stars. The home was immaculate. Would definitely return.

we had the best memorial day weekend. the lake view is amazing. being next to the lake gives you so many alternatives to keep kids busy. Isabelle is a great host. Hidden Gem

An unexpected change in life and work led me to the web to find a temporary place to stay. I found this cabin 11 miles from home and was blown away! Beautifully maintained and situated on Germantown Lake - it made for the perfect location. We met the owner - Isabelle - and she was delightful and a pleasure to meet and deal with. I highly recommend this cabin!!

Peaceful Chalet on the Lake!

Our family was in town to celebrate my sons wedding and we rented the Chalet du Lac and absolutely loved our stay!! Isabelle greeted us at the property and was so gracious! All the rooms are comfortable and clean with every comfort of home! Waking up to the sunrise on the lake was so peaceful! The front porch in the evening for sunset was spectacular as well. I highly recommend booking a visit to The chalet du lac!

A true hidden gem in the countryside on a lake!

Excellent option for privacy and relaxing. Immaculate clean and nicely furnished chalet at the end of a country road on a lake yet minutes from Bealeton and Warrenton. This was perfect for our international wedding guests who got to see the nearby angus cows, eagles, turtles, and beavers. Decked with 3 outside sitting areas, a bathroom for each bedroom, and a full kitchen, this stay was so much more than we hoped for and just perfect!

Beautiful views!

Isabelle's house had beautiful views with comfy beds. We used the boats, which were a great perk. The kitchen is stocked with all kinds of baking supplies, although no dry goods so pack your own. We loved eating outside on the deck! Messick's custard was a delightful trip and we hope to return to play on the playground and pick up more beer from Power's.

Relaxing cabin retreat

Very quiet and have lots of privacy. Nice lake view for morning coffee. The owner came to meet us and show us around. she is very responsive. The only draw back is I wish the WiFi situation can be improve. Again, having to not have good WiFi, it force us to put our phone down. I had the best girl talk w my teenager thru out the trip. Definitely recommend this place.

Came out for a wedding 10 minutes away. From the moment we arrived, the owner met and greeted my Family, made us feel welcome, and showed us the ropes of this stunningly beautiful and artistic home. My family loved all the little small touches she has put into the home. Everything was clean and tidy and it has a well stocked kitchen. I also ended up leaving an earbud there for my phone and she generously found it and shipped it back to me. Lovely experience šŸ’•

Wonderful secluded getaway

I had such a delightful time at this beautiful cabin. I particularly loved the interior design and the bed is the most comfortable one you will ever sleep on! It is exceptionally secluded--you won't hear from anyone around you--yet you are within a 5 to 10 minute drive from a small town with restaurants/groceries and Warrenton (a larger town) is within 15 to 20 minutes. Isabelle is pleasant and accessible and strives to make sure you have everything you need for your stay. This is just what I needed as a peaceful break from the hectic pace of life. You will make no mistake in choosing this place for your vacation getaway. I am definitely looking into returning! Thank you so much for the very lovely break that I so much needed.

Great property, location, and experience!

What a magnificent place to stay! The cabin and property itself is a beautiful setting. The cabin is on a lake and our family took out the kayaks and canoe almost daily. The cabin is very clean and quaint with a wonderful view. The one mile drive back to the cabin is so pretty and filled with wildlife. But this property also has a great location. We had a bunch of wonderful day trips within an hour or so. While there we visited Luray Caverns, the Flying Circus, the skyline drive in the mountains, swam in a waterhole by a waterfall, visited Mt. Vernon and DC, and most evenings went to a local ice cream shop or cute little farmerā€™s market. Isabelle, the owner, was helpful and a delight to visit with. We really didnā€™t want to come home. We canā€™t wait to visit again!

Attention to the little things

We had an amazing Memorial Day weekend. On The Lake. The place was beautiful, secluded and quiet. Isabel was amazing! She clearly cares about the experience of her guests. She paid attention to all the little things that make a stay pleasant. The kitchens was well stocked, she had supplies for us (soap, paper towels, TP, etc). She had hampers in the closets, everything was organized and in its proper place. She thought of everything. Having the canoe and kayaks to use was an unexpected bonus and we were in them all weekend. We will definitely be back!

A little slice of heaven

We enjoyed our time at Chalet du Lac immensely! The sunsets from the front porch were breathtaking and drinking my coffee on the back deck listening to the birds was a great way to start each morning. My family and I explored either Shenandoah National Park or Washington DC each day and the cabin was the absolute perfect place to rest and relax each evening. Isabelle was a thoughtful and gracious host. We had access to everything we could possibly need. The boys had an amazing time exploring in the large yard, watching for animals and playing chess downstairs. We saw countless deer and turkey, so many geese, a woodchuck and even a fox during our 9 day visit. We are so grateful that Isabelle shared this little slice of heaven with us and hope to be back next year!

My second stay at this lovely home!

This was my second visit to this beautiful retreat In Midland and wonā€™t be my last! The house was spotless and the owner was very thoughtful as always, even accommodating our late arrival and ensuring we had everything needed to be comfortable. My husband and I enjoyed the quiet and the lake view is gorgeous. We loved visiting Messickā€™s for local goodies and steaks for the grill. Although we had business that required us to travel to Fairfax, Fredericksburg, and other areas we found that we could be anywhere we needed to in 30-45 minutes and were always so happy to return to the chalet for peace and quiet after our business was finished. There is a lovely park just a short paddle away across the lake too! I canā€™t say enough good things about the house or the friendliness of the owner. If you love nature and want a quiet place to relax, this is the house for you.

Great Cabin on a Lake

My Family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin is beautiful and very, very clean. All the beds are very comfortable and it has everything and more that you would need. This cabin was a great home away from home. Every morning we woke up to a beautiful view over the lake. We saw lots of wildlife, turkeys, deer, fox, geese. It was a lot of fun for my kids. Virginia holds a lot of history and many things you can do with your family. This cabin is central to many attractions. We were able to go to D.C. and see the museum's, the monuments and the National Zoo. We also got to visit the National Aquarium in Baltimore and went to a MLB game in Baltimre at Camden Yards. We went to the Luray Caverns and the Shenandoah National Forest. So as you can see, this cabin is in a great location. If we return to Virginia, this is definitely where we would want to stay again.

Very peaceful location

Our experience was very positive. My immediate family spent Thanksgiving at Chalet du Lac and we found the setting very secluded, peaceful and safe. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the property owner, Isabelle. She was extremely friendly and helpful. The property is on a lake but it also has multiple beautiful views. There is plenty to do both inside (table games, movies) and outside (kayaking, canoeing, walking, sitting by the firepit, visiting the farm market nearby). The house is well equipped with plenty of attention to details. The internet was not great, but we knew it based on earlier reviews. We used our mobile hotspot when necessary. Otherwise, we were not interested in being online. We highly recommend this property.
