The place was very clean and nice… except windows were dirty so it was hard to see outside unless you stepped out to the porch. The view out front was obstructed by overgrown trees or bushes. The chairs on the front porch had a big hole in it where you could not sit on it. The back porch swing was broken. The TV in the master bedroom did not work and the other bedroom TV’s remotes had no batteries. The living room TV only had streaming, which was fine if you have an account on Netflix or other channels. We were able to use the garage, but the remote did not work… so you had to move your car out, close the garage door from inside and then go out the front door. The bathrooms and bedding were very clean and had plenty of towels and toiletries. Not sure if the grill worked because it rained most of the time we were there … so did not use the hot tub either. But, overall, the house was nice and clean. Saw lots of wildlife!

Looks great in the picture. Doesn’t show holes in deck, holes in walls, old furniture tossed over deck railing, grass that is thigh high, lack of dishware in cabinets, windows so dirty you can’t see through and blinds that are falling apart.
Back deck by hot tub. Didn’t use hot tub because we were afraid we might fall through!

Homer's Hideaway worked really well for us!

Homer's Hideaway was well appointed and clean. Quite comfortable with plenty of windows to look out if you weren't relaxing on one of the decks. We did not use them, but there was a large grill and a hot tub on the back deck which are both nice extras. Overall our experience was very good and we would return to HH in the future. One very little thing I would mention is that it would have been nice to know in advance that the icemaker does not make ice...that we needed to buy ice. But that is not a huge deal...just a heads up :). Thank you for a great week!

Did not meet expectations

This rental property was very nice, but it needs some things fixed, such as the back patio. There were holes in the wood, which was dangerously with kids running around.The property needs to purchase new items, such as pots ( the ones there were super old), coffee machine was tiny.The house is in need of repairs in the bedrooms and the restroom.This house is beautiful but does need a few things/repairs to have made it a great stay.

30 Foot Long Dumpster on the front lawn?

The house itself is fine. Comfortable and the neighborhood is very quiet. However, when we arrived, there was a very large dumpster situated in the front of the house. This made the large front deck completely unusable as you would be gazing into the dumpster that was filled with wood scraps and trash. It's an eye-sore and we would certainly not booked this house if we knew that would be on the front lawn.

Homers Hide-away

Property was comfortable for my family, 6 adults. Entry was once again delayed with the entry code not working, this has happened 3 out 3 stays in Ruidoso. The only minor discrepancies would have been the rear sliding doors with blinds that did not have any way of moving out of the way of the door. Had to tie them up and were already damaged from previous renters. Outside decks were needing updating and had some dangerous warped boards. The comfort and location of property outweighs any small discrepancies. Parking was great - the garage usage with ping pong tables was a great surprise and enjoyed by all. Wifi instructions were a mystery - had to find the router and figure it out from there. Summery, very comfortable, would stay there again, highly reccomend this poperty.

Homer's Hideaway a Gem

Location at north end of The Links at Sierra Blanca GC in Ruidoso was perfect for day trips and just hanging around. Layout of house was perfect for our needs. Kitchen has only 1 water glass, 3 coffee mugs, no mixing bowls, but is well stocked with plates, bowls, etc., so go prepared. There is a washer/dryer in the garage, which is not in the listing. Windows and blinds are in dire need of cleaning and outdoor deck is nearly unusable and in need of repair (peeling paint, lifted boards). Lots of wildlife in the yard and neighborhood, mainly elk and deer, and very quiet. Would definitely re-book.

Great area / Overall Satisfied

Great area for easy access all activities, quiet, wild life all around populated area, and roomy. Needs a little TLC in some areas such as hot tub did not hold heat while in use, grill not working (knobs broken), back door not secured (never felt unsafe), beds are a little uncomfy, furniture beautifully but some wear. Love the overall look, the porch all fenced in (great for fur baby to enjoy outside since not fenced), they offered more then enough towels, kitchen well stocked for cooking, and garage offered activities. Overall satisfied.

Property needs updating

The property was comfortable, but is in need of updating. Oven didn’t work. Back screen door didn’t lock. Not able to have access to ice maker. TV very outdated and numerous controls not labeled.

Needs attention!

The house is spacious and in a good location. The decks are great but need some boards replaced due to trip hazards. The hot tub lid is broken and hard to remove and put back on. There was an ant problem and the ant traps on the counters were not appealing. Most concerning was a water leak under the kitchen sink. If this was my house this would be a priority due to possibility of mold. With some normal maintenance and few repairs this would be a 5 star rental.

Great Cabin

Enjoyed our stay! Cabin was clean and very roomy. Definitely an added plus that we could bring our fur babies! Would definitely stay again.

Mom and daughter trip

I stayed with my two young daughters a d our two dogs. We really enjoyed the house. It is beautifully decorated. It was a little warm during the day time and they want you to keep the thermostat at 72. The hot tub advertised had some bars to lift the cover off that were broken on one side or locked on the other. Being there by myself with my younger kids meant I couldn’t lift the broken side off for use and the other side was locked and not able to be lifted. The location was beautiful. We saw deer a couple times leaving the neighborhood. It was easy to get to the main roads to go do activities. We would stay again but would probably ask about help with use of the hot tub prior to arrival.

AWESOME Mountain Home!

My wife and son met my sister and family at this beautiful New Mexico cabin for a week’s vacation. We had the best trip ever! Perfect cabin with all the amenities, and a great location convenient to hiking trails at nearby lakes. Beautiful view and very peaceful neighborhood. Loved it and will return!

Great place, Other homes pretty close by but never saw anyone. Deer walk right up to your patio. Centrally located.

Family birthday celebration!

Overall, we loved the property. It was as advertised. We had family from Texas and from Las Vegas meet close to the middle to celebrate my father’s 80th and my son’s 4th birthdays (on the same day). It was a hit from 4 thru 80! The walk in shower and minimal stairs were really nice for the elders. We were visited by deer every morning and evening. The ping pong table is a nice touch and was a hit with our group. The hot tub was really nice for relaxing in the evening. Was a very comfortable weekend get away! Only a couple very minor things. These are more for property manager’s general knowledge that to discourage future renters in any way... The bed in the third bedroom was a little noisy. Almost like it had a plastic crib mattress cover on it. We washed all dishes by hand because the dishwasher left a significant film, maybe needs filter. The hot tub was a little difficult to open due to a broken handle on the lid. The deck is a really nice element to this property and we enjoyed it a lot. However, the wood is getting to the point of needing some attention. There are a couple apots that are trip hazards. We would absolutely (and have already discussed) rent this cabin again. Please don’t let the few things above give you the wrong impression. This is a very nice spot for a very nice price.

Nice house

Clean and everything you need. There were some broken items. The grill wasn't working so we called the property management company and they replaced it within two hours. Appreciate the quick service.
