Owls Head Ocean Beachfront Cottage

A seaside cottage with access to two beaches and breath-taking views of a tidal cove, Penobscot Bay, the Mussel Ridge Islands and the Weskeag River. Perfect for couples. Excellent launching spot for kayakers. Great getaway or homebase for exploring midcoast Maine.

Downstairs has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other a twin bed and bathroom with a shower. There is also an upstairs with a queen bed, half bath, front room and separate entrance. A lawn and front deck overlooks the beach and cove. Back deck overlooks backyard and wooded area. Living room downstairs, bedroom with double bed, and front room upstairs both provide views of the water and Bay.

On a shorefront lot on a private road, this secluded setting is just minutes from Rockland and half an hour from Rockport and Camden. Nearby attractions include The Farnsworth Art Museum, Owlshead Transportation Museum and several lighthouses.

This place is ideal! The location is amazing! We've stayed here before and look forward to returning. The cottage is comfortable and clean, and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking. This was our 3rd year at Doreen's place and we just love it. Peacefulness, views, and location is the 'Maine' attraction for us. As always, very clean, very cozy. Love the separate upstairs accessed by outdoor stairs. Very well supplied. Comfy beds and furniture. Nice and bright. Great kayak launch from 2 small private beaches. The pretty, gas heater works great. Gulls, diving ducks, a nightly Great Blue Heron visitor....and a deer swimming across from the Island!!! As hikers, we took advantage of Acadia park a good drive away, but we agreed that our best time was just sitting on the fabulous deck and staying put at the cottage. Doreen is only a text away. Rebooked already!

This is an exceptional place.. It is a perfect location for enjoying kayaking, paddle boarding and just endless hours on the private beach. We love to cook and the kitchen is well equipped which was so appreciated. The views from the deck are amazing.I can't say enough good things about this cottage and will be back next year.Also.. our host was so helpful in every way and always got back to us with any questions we had about the cottage.

Beautiful view!

This was my second time staying at this house and it was just as wonderful this summer as it was last summer! It’s the perfect cottage directly on the water and owl’s head, which is convenient too Rockland and Camden as well as Acadia and Bar Harbor. The cottage contains everything you could possibly need in the kitchen as well as a comfortable double bed downstairs and upstairs with the view of the water. Doreen is so easy to work with and. I hope I will be able to spend some more time at her cottage next summer!

Heaven on the water !

This was our second trip to Doreen fabulous cottage! The location on the little dead end road is perfect ! And the way the cottage is situated on the water can't be beat ! Whether you sit on the porch or living room - the view is fantastic and always changing. Cottage is clean and neat as well as very comfortable in every way.This is our go to place in Maine !! THANK YOU !!

Enjoyed listening to the Quiet

Loved our stay just as much as last year. Very peaceful and private property right on the water. Great to launch kayaks from the back yard down some stairs to the beach. This year we chose hiking in Acadia 2 1/2 hours away. If you want to recharge and just relax, the only sound heard from the house and deck is the water lapping and birds. So quiet you can hear the wings of geese taking off from the water from a distance. Both the upstairs and downstairs are cozy, charming, neat and very clean. Great if you want your own space upstairs. The deck furniture is awesome. The beds and all furniture are comfortable. The living room wall is all windows so you can take in the lovely view. The cottage is incredibly and thoughtfully supplied. The gas fireplace works great and pretty with the 'flames'. There's a little space heater for a quick warm up if needed on the upstairs level. Fans in the supply closet, leashes for fido...pretty much anything to make for a comfortable and an easy stay. There are a zillion books if you're staying in. Too many good things to list. Doreen is a very responsive host should you need anything or have a question. Great area near Rockland and Camden. My one tidbit is that a 2nd set of keys would be convenient. I stayed upstairs and made sure I kept the set with me so that I could access the first floor's outside door in the morning

This is our 2nd year at this cottage just magical! Close to Rockland and camden and so many wonderful hiking trails.We even saw a Bald Eagle on a tree above the house such a treat.Booked again for next year!

Loved the cottage and most of all, the location. It felt like we had our own private cove. Perhaps the owners could include info on renting kayaks in the listing. It could have been included and I didn’t see it.

Perfect Spot!!

This is an absolutely fabulous place to stay. Neat -clean the views are magnificent. The hostess Doreen so easy to communicate with. Kayaking is fabulous -surrounding things to do are fantastic! One of the nicest VRBO’s we’ve ever stayed in!!! we’ve already booked for next year. 5 stars all the way!!

The most amazing spot

The Mills Cottage is in a location where we could just sit and enjoy the view if that’s what we wanted. We did but also traveled the area. The house was perfect. Very Clean and comfortable with obvious consideration for guests. We loved the decorations and personal family photos that shows history of love for the area. We’ll be back !!

Our second time staying and everything was certainly as good as the first! Great relaxing ocean views and atmosphere. Great central mid-coast location made day trips to both Bar Harbor and Boothbay Harbor very easy and enjoyable!

Wonderful Stay at Owl's Head Cottage!!!

My wife and I absolutely loved our weeklong stay at this wonderful cottage! It's even better than described.... the cottage is very cozy and the views are incredible. Stunning

This girls trip was fantastic! Mills cottage is in a central location for everything we wanted to visit. The view out into the bay was awesome, each mornings sunrise was breath taking. One thing to keep in mind if you plan to visit Maine is that they do not have plastic or paper bags at stores without a fee, so bring in you own! Thank you Doreen for offering up such a wonderful and beautiful place.

Peaceful and comfortable stay

A very quiet location early October-nature and views. Not too many folks around in surrounding cottages, just here and there. Fantastic! Doreen responded to our texts. The cottage was spotless. My 4th VRBO and the cleanest. Nice and bright. Comfy furniture throughout including deck. loved the gas heater downstairs. Also small one upstairs if needed. Very well equipped. Even the outlets were in easily accessible places. Many practical things throughout cottage. Nice ocean views from everywhere but front bedroom (small and adorable). The upstairs was ideal. We didn't have pets but saw doggie supplies. My first time kayaking (bucket list) but the local kayak fella was closed for the season. So grateful that Mitch from Midcoast Kayak supplied us for the week with kayaks/vests/whistles including delivery from Damariscotta! Gave us tips and demos and had us demo back for safety. Very appreciative. There are 2 sets of stairs to little sandy beach areas when tide is out. Very manageable for 2 people to bring kayaks down the steps and set out from the cottage into Very nice place to stay and hope to return. Thank you

Heaven on earth

The pictures do not reflect the feeling that this place offers you. Close to everything yet a private and peaceful setting.The cottage is thoughtfully equipped .A perfect place to unwind and recharged. We have already booked for next year.Doreen was an amazing host with quick responses .
