On the ground floor, a semi-private backyard outfitted with picnic tables and a gas grill offers an ideal setting for outdoor dining and gatherings. The property includes one dedicated onsite parking space equipped with a complimentary Level 2 electric vehicle charger (compatible with both Tesla NACS and J1772 connectors), capable of delivering over 20 miles of range per hour. Great Stay!

A stay here. Location is central right near O’Briens Irish Pub. All the furniture is either brand new or really unique vintage pieces. All the TVs look like a piece of art on the wall. I even charged my vehicle overnight which saved me an hour of travel time on the way back home. We thought we would need to use air mattresses because the listing says two bedrooms, but there was actually four so everyone ended up in their own room.

Spacious Surprise with Stunning Decks – Perfect Stay at Salt Box!

We loved our stay at Salt Box. The roof deck is massive and we spent pretty much any downtime there or on the third fourth floor outdoor deck area. We were surprised when we got there because it’s listed on VRBO as a 2 bedroom but there are actually 4 bedrooms. They are all gorgeous, too. I wish we knew because we travelled with 4 couples but thought only two could fit (they got a separate place). Now we know for next time!! The restaurants we booked were both walking distance from the house which was awesome to not have to take a car or uber anywhere. 10/10 experience!

Sara and KC live in Boston, MA, where they work as a high school English teacher and a commercial real estate professional. They got engaged in 2024 and are excited for their Newport wedding in the summer of 2026.

After renting the Salt Box from the previous owner/host back in the summer of 2017, they knew it was a special place. So when it came up for sale in 2024, they jumped at the chance to make it their own. Since then, they’ve been hard at work re-furnishing, decorating, and upgrading the property.

When the Salt Box is not being rented, you’ll often find them in town—starting the day with a seasonal latte from the Nitro Bar, spending a sunny afternoon at Second Beach, or catching a live performance downtown.
