Flora-Dale Dune Vista Cottage - Silver Lake & Dune View

Our cottage is part of the original Flora-Dale Resort located on the south side of Silver Lake, so there are many great amenities to enjoy! It was originally a one-story cabin that we converted to a two-story back in 2003. Specifically, we are located in the lower 'vee' of the original resort about 200 feet from the lake. Come explore the beauty and fun that Silver Lake has to offer! Sit on our glider on our front deck to enjoy a view of the lake and dunes!

Dune Vista offers a HEATED pool, tennis, pickle ball, full-court basketball, and volleyball courts, shuffleboard, tether ball, horseshoes, and ping pong (in the Clubhouse behind the pool). You can moor your own small to medium boat if you bring your own augers. We share a large beach. It's shallow for a long ways out. So, the best swimming is at the drop off, across the lake at the dunes, at Silver Lake State Park beach 1/2 mile away, or at our nearby Lake Michigan beaches.

The heated pool is to the right past our cottage and only a short walk up the ramp to the right of the parking lot. Remember the key hanging just to the right of the main floor bathroom door by the stove. You'll need it to unlock the pool safety gate.

We gladly share our hobo pie makers, wienie forks, gas grill, two kayaks, tennis racquets, basketball, crochet set and bocce game. A supply of fire wood for campfires is available behind our cottage. We are one mile away from 'downtown' Silver Lake with Craig's Cruisers go-karts, zip line, mini-golf, bumper boats, and paddle boats. By the way, Craig's has a new roller-coaster! Many restaurants and souvenir shops are walkable or bike rideable. We fell in love and have enjoyed the cottage life for over 20 years! We'd love to help you get to know our beautiful area!

Parkside grocery store is only 1/2 mile east for things you forgot. GB Donut Shop has great coffee and sweet rolls! The Whippy Dip and Tasty Creations are our favorite ice cream spots! The Little Point Sable Lighthouse is our favorite sunset place. You can rent dune buggies or Jeeps to drive on the dunes or boats for on the lake. Mac Woods Dune Rides are another way to experience the dunes.

Pentwater, a darling beach town, is only a 15 minute drive north on B-15. The Ludington and the Whitehall/Montague areas are only 30 minutes away. Bring your bikes for scenic rides on our Hart-Montague bike trail.

Simply Sweet

I love this little house. It was perfect for 2 couples and kids. It is in a nice and quiet area. We were in for a quick trip so we did not utilize everything available. Our host had great communication and filled us in on things to do.

perfect piece of heaven

Dune Vista is everything! Vintage charm in a beautifully modernized cabin. We enjoyed kayaking, cook outs with Michigan family and sunsets every evening across the street on the flora-dale beach. I think it's lovely and we will definitely be back. Thank you !!

We came up ti celebrate our sins 13 th.. We love silver lake and goingto dunes.. Sunsets, were perfect and swimming pool was a hit.. Our dog enjoyed balcony

Funky cottage!

We loved our stay! We really did have a great time! The hosts are super friendly and accommodating and the place is cool! I happen to be a fan of funky architecture and I loved what they did with a bunch of the creative storage solutions and bright colors! Even though it is like a bungalow we had five people there and were not cramped at all! Had a fantastic time and would love to go again!

Wonderful

We had an amazing stay at the cottage! It was peaceful and the view was great. It is just outside of the 'busy-ness' of the town but close enough for restaurants and shops. The home provided all of the amenities of home. Owners are great as well! We cannot wait to book our next stay there!

My mother nicknamed me 'Rick' which is what I have been commonly called ever since. The "wife of my youth" is Sherry and we have been married 46 years. We have three children (boy, boy, girl) that actually love us even though we didn't have a clue about what we were doing during our child-rearing years. Sherry is a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan (currently inactive), but we together valued her being a stay-at-home mom while the kids were there. I ended up with a BS in Mechanical Engineering (GMI) and an MS in Electrical Engineering (MSU) and had a great career working for GM, Diesel Technology and Robert Bosch in that order. We are now both officially retired and very much enjoy living near our oldest son, his wife, and two grandchildren during the winter months and near our two younger children and Silver Lake in Michigan during the summer months.

Sherry and I have been renting out our properties in some form or fashion since we got married in 1977. We have rented basements, an ocean-view vacation home, a downtown luxury apartment, a cottage, and a duplex. We have done this sometimes with an agent and sometimes without. We both, but especially Sherry, enjoy working with tenants and helping their stay to be all it can be.

Varför värden valde detta boende

Before buying a unit in Flora-Dale, we had often vacationed in the Stony Lake / Silver Lake area. Rick especially grew tired of camping with three young children (lots of work) and in 1997 we purchased "Dune Vista" from one of the developers so we could camp at a higher level. We chose the Silver Lake area because of Flora-Dale's wonderful amenities and everything 'downtown' Silver Lake and the dunes have to offer. In their younger years, our children attended church camp at Ao-Wa-Kiya on Stony Lake. This is actually what introduced us to the Silver Lake area which is only a few miles north of Stony Lake.

Since first buying in 1997, our small, 338 sq-ft cottage has been converted to a larger, small cottage that has all the conveniences of home. It is now a 2-story with a total of 754 sq-ft. We thoroughly enjoy being able to see both Silver Lake and the golden dunes. Flora-Dale is a wonderful, family-oriented community at which we have developed many close relationships with our neighbors over the years.
