Pleasant, convenient neighborhood
This house is located conveniently to I-95 and the Turnpike, south of Fort Lauderdale Center and only about 10 minutes from the airport. The house has promise, but it is a bit "rough around the edges" but could be stellar with a little more TLC. The pool is beautiful and well cared for- the pool company came three times during our two week stay. The yard is attractive and offers a lot of outside seating, though it could use a bit of leaf clean up and general "tidying."
The interior offers three bedrooms. The king size bed in the master is very comfortable. We did not use the other bedrooms except for luggage and clothing storage. While the listing indicates 1-1/2 baths, there is only ONE full bath (newly tiled, quite attractive). There is an outside shower and sink, but I would not classify this as a half-bath. The kitchen is also fairly new and attractive. Again, though the listing indicates a dishwasher, there is none. Dishes are not especially plentiful, particularly coffee cups. A few more would be needed with additional people. The refrigerator is large with a good freezer and ice maker.
Living room furniture is quite worn and in one case, an occasional chair is on the verge of falling apart. Both area rugs, but especially the one in the living room, are badly stained and in need of deep cleaning or replacing. While I know there is a cleaning company that cleans after each rental, it seems that it is only a "surface cleaning" at best. (For example, a bobby pin was on the rug in front of the sofa, and two bobby pins were under the fitted sheet on top of the mattress cover when we removed them to launder them.) This place needs a very thorough cleaning in every room. A property that is primarily rental property is difficult to maintain, as not all renters treat it with care and respect. Given that, it becomes even more incumbent on the owner to maintain at least minimal standards and assure reasonable care and maintenance. A small vacuum or electric broom would also be helpful to assist longer term renters to keep the floors clean and debris from being tracked through the house.
With all of that being said, I hesitate to be super-critical as we did enjoy the property and our stay. I really offer these comments more as constructive suggestions for the property owner to help assure a more successful rental experience for all in the future.
