Great location

Great communication with host. No dishwasher or washer/dryer but that is made clear by the host and this is a more rustic cabin. Big yard for games etc. Very short walk to the really nice public beach.

Wonderful summer getaway!

Comfortable property very close to the lake. Well equipped kitchen and new bathroom. Nice outdoor space with a great view. Clint was very responsive and easy to contact. A fun time was had by all and we hope to be back!

4 night stay at Cowichan lake cottage

The cottage was good, spacious and cosy. We loved the deck we had our meals and the yard where my kids played badminton. We rolled our canoe and kayak to the park which is a very short distance from the cottage. Lake Cowichan can be rough in the afternoon, but the locals help out if you are in trouble. There were a couple of things which I found strange. There was a half started roll of paper towel in the kitchen (no spare paper towel anywhere) and not packaged and most likely used bar of soap in the bathroom. We brought our own soap, so the soap was not a big deal. We did text the owner to ask for extra toilet paper and paper towel. First he told us to buy TP and PT and leave the bill so he could pay. Then he texted us saying that there are probably more people in the cottage than we booked for. His comment made us feel unpleasant and left a bad impression. Firstly, you need to trust your customers. Secondly, you need to provide extra paper towel and toilet paper in case your customers run out.

Amazing location, close to the beach!

The cabin is rustic but very comfortable for my family of 5. The bathroom is a recent reno and was appreciated by all. The beach is a short walk down the road (4 min) and it has lifeguards from 10-5 m-f. There is a diving board and is marked off for safety. The water is very clear and refreshing. Not alot of dining options, but just under 1 km away is a pub with pub food and it was very good for a night out. Basic spices, utensils, pots and pans are available. Bring your own beach towels and toys. Lots of elk will be viewed in youbou. We had a blast and will consider this spot in the future.

Perfect summer escape

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cabin. We were pleasantly surprised with how well stocked it was and how beautifully renovated the bathroom was. The deck was a perfect place to relax after a busy day enjoying the local beach and trails. It has a gorgeous view of the lake. Clint was very helpful and we really appreciated how quick his communication was. We definitely hope to return!

Kid-friendly stay near the lake

We had a great time at this property. The property manager was easy to reach and professional. The cabin was clean, cosy, and well cared for. The kitchen had everything you could need and the lake-facing porch had a wonderful view of the water and mountains beyond, plus the fire-table was a delight at night. The nearby lake access, down the street, was only a minute's walk away, and had clean facilities, picnic tables, and swings for the kids. Our only recommendations would be additional bedside lighting, additional towels, and additional sheets. Laundry facilities would be a good addition as well. But, that said, we'd happily return again next summer!

The property was cozy and we listened to Elk calling each other in the early morning. Great location as we explored the Northern area of Lake Cowichan.

Wonderful family get-away

Quiet, peaceful retreat with great proximity to the beach, trails, and other local amenities. Host was incredibly responsive, flexible, and lovely to communicate with. House had everything we could have hoped and more - our children were very happy here. Would certainly be happy to return in future.

Disappointed

The location was fine - however the place was not cleaned from the previous occupiers - it was several hours before we were able to get ahold of the owner - the place could not be cleaned until the next day - we had no place to stay that night so had to drive home and cancelled the entire weekend getaway - the owner has advised that he would give us a full refund which I would expect - but when you plan a getaway with three families it is such a letdown to have it fall through

Ideal family beach holiday

Lovely old house, great for a family beach holiday. Lakeside with beautiful views. A few upgrades in kitchen utensils and cutlery would be welcome. Previous renters left messy coffee machine and bbq ( not the owner’s fault)

Great location

Quick walk to the beach, great for swimming and kayaking. Cowichan River is and biking trans Canada trail a must do. Clint’s place is a great place to stay for a group of friends or family.

Nice getaway!

Beautiful view! Nice old clean house, spacious yard, very kid friendly. We enjoyed our stay great swimming and weather. Would have been nice to get a warning of neighbours starting renos at 8 am banging, drilling, and swearing till 4pm.

Beautiful setting, large lot for kids to play in, close to beach, spacious & comfortable house well equipped for family fun - BBQ, fire pit, games. Small store nearby. Would recommend.

The property is nice, large yard with a nice deck and view.

The property was nice with a nice big yard for the kids to play in, the house was in nice shape when we got there and all we had to do was unpack and enjoy. The listing says it’s close to a public beach which it is only a short walk away. Although the beach is not suited for younger children it’s got a very steep drop off and is quickly over my head within 8 feet of the sand (I’m six foot five). It is close to the town of Lake Cowichan which is nice if you need supplies but it is pretty far from anywhere else so if your like us who drove from Alberta we didn’t really like having to drive for an hour or more to get to anywhere, it might be like this anywhere you go on the island though. There is a nice shallow beach right in the town of Lake Cowichan which we found on our second to last day, the kids loved playing in the shallow water there. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to explore the island and need a nice but not to expensive place to stay.
