Beau cadre mais maison à rénover

Maison un peu laissée à l abandon. Manque d équipements (micro-ondes qui ne marche pas, pas de cafetière digne de ce nom salle de bains qui ne ferme pas…) aucune isolation phonique entre les chambres et entre le rez de chaussée et l étage. Cher pour la qualité de prestations. Cadre très beau en revanche. Proximité avec la côte d Opale. Le jardin est très beau.

Nouvel an entre amis

Nous avons passé un réveillon dans la maison avec nos amis. Nous étions 13 personnes. Le seul souci nous avons été soumis aux inondations, beaucoup d’eau et de pluie. La maison est agréable, bien chauffé et facilement organisé pour un grand groupe.

Quiet location

This was a good large cottage in a very quiet village only an hour into France from Calais. Nice sizable garden for the kids to have fun. The coast and Belgium were both within reach for days out.

Bon séjour

Agréable séjour dans une grande maison familiale avec un très beau jardin, de bonnes literies (draps et linge de maison fournis), un agréable coin barbecue, de beaux espaces intérieurs où l'on peut laisser circuler des petits enfants (jeux disponibles sur place). Pas mal de détails pourraient être améliorés: pas de percolateur suffisant, quasi plus de cuillères à café, un tiers des portes des chambres ne se ferment pas (séquelle du récent dégât des eaux contre lequel les propriétaire ont récemment dû faire face?), la porte d'une des salles de bain-wc est également impossible à fermer (ennuyeux quand on est nombreux...), vannes thermostatiques à remplacer, insonorisation absente entre chambres et entre les étages (quand il y a un bébé, tout le monde en profite...), escalier en colimaçon très peu éclairé. Nous avons cependant passé une agréable semaine en famille dans ce gîte. Avec l'aide de Michel, un très sympathique voisin qui s'occupe de la maison en l'absence des propriétaires avec lesquels nous n'avons pas eu de contacts. Au bilan, pas de regrets bien que le prix (environ 500 euros/nuit tout compris, en ce qui nous concerne: 6 adultes et quatre enfants) nous semble un peu surfait.

Excellentes vacances pour tous les âges et tous les goûts !

Nous avons été émerveillés par la propriété et tous ses espaces, tant intérieurs que, surtout, extérieurs. Chacun y a trouvé du plaisir et chaque espace a été exploité. Les lits, a priori assez petits, ont été suffisamment confortables car chaque ado avait sa chambre. Le wifi était tout à fait performant. La cuisine était très bien équipée, en particulier le frigo extrêmement vaste. Tous les jeux extérieurs ont été utilisés avec plaisir; le matériel de jardin nous a permis de profiter au maximum du terrain (déplacement aisé). L'espace barbecue et l'espace "feu de camp" ont été utilisés quotidiennement, donnant lieu à des moments très conviviaux et chaleureux dont chacun se souviendra longtemps. Grâce au syndicat d'initiative, nous avons pu participer à des activités locales intéressantes. Différents commerces sont accessibles dans un rayon de 4 km . Petit bémol: l'évacuation des eaux n'était pas optimale et entraînait des odeurs dans le jardin (à côté de la terrasse, petits bouillonnements fréquents). Un appel au relais local n'a pas été suivi d'effet. Un grand merci à la famille Waring pour ces belles vacances ! PS. La communication triangulaire entre abritel, le vacancier et le propriétaire est un peu lente. Nous aurions aimé pouvoir prendre contact directement avec le propriétaire...

Zeer gezellig huis

Wij hebben een zeer aangenaam verblijf gehad in het huisje. Het is zeer gezellig. De keuken is ook een pluspunt. Zeer grote ijskast en oven wat wel en aangenaam is als je met veel in het huisje verblijft. Ook het haardvuur is een pluspunt. Het enige min puntje is toch dat het huisje niet echt proper is. Er hangen heel wat spinnenwebben. En dode spinnen in de kast en onder het bed. Dit is nu geen ramp maar was iets aangenamer geweest zonder. We zouden nog steeds terug komen naar dit huisje.

Un super week end

Petit week end en famille, 12 personnes. Nous avons tous été enchantés par la maison et le jardin..!!! Malgré le temps, petits et grands se sont appropriés du jardin. La maison est spacieuse, accueillante et l'on s'y sent bien..Nous n'avons pas eu l'occasion de rencontrer nos hôtes mais la communication et la prise en charge des clés se sont faits sans encombre. Nous serions ravis de nous y rendre à nouveau. Merci pour tout !!!

We hebben een heerlijk weekend gehad met de hele familie. Een mooi huis, en een nog mooiere tuin. Het weer was prachtig en we hebben genoten van de rust, het volleybalveld, tafeltennis en trampoline! Het was super!

Great week with friends.

We were a group of 3 families (12 people in total) and this was our second stay at Geraldine's property. Geraldine met us on arrival to make sure we had everything we needed and left us to settle in. Despite the weather being on the chilly side, the kids spent most of the time in the garden on the trampoline, playing rounders & badminton and serving drinks from their homemade outdoor cafe!! The adults spent many hours cooking lovely meals with food from the local supermarket and markets and drinking the lovely wines available in the area. We visited Le Touquet, the aquarium in Bologne (extremely busy and probably not worth the trip) and the Coupole d'Helfaut-Wizernes which was extremely interesting for both adults and children. We had a lovely week and hope to come back again in the future.

Gezellig huis met een zalige tuin voor de kinderen!

We hebben enorm genoten van de buitenruimte en de aanwezige elementen zoals tafeltennis, trampoline en het zalige bosje voor de kinderen. Het huis op zich is gezellig en alles, maar dan ook alles is er aanwezig. De benedenslaapkamer aan de voorkant is wel vrij vochtig en het huis is heel gehorig. Maar geen seconde spijt van en we kijken met plezier terug op ons korte verblijf!

Lovely, well appointed house with a very big garden. Ideal for large families.

We are a family of 16 and thoughly enjoyed our stay in this large house in the country. The owner, Geraldine Waring, who usually meets guests at the house, was on holiday when we arrived, but her son Luc met us and showed us around. The garden is probably about 2 acres and was great for grandchildren and adults alike. We made use of the undercover BBQ every evening rather than going out, but there are eating places not too far way.The good weather and the very peaceful surroundings made our stay really enjoyable. If you want to visit a beach, then be prepared to drive for about 45 minutes and if the sun is out you won't be disappointed. All in all a lovely place to stay.

Fantastic family christmas

The house was lovely, with a good amount of space for 14 family members, quiet spaces and fun filled rooms. The open fires were wonderful, especially for a wet and cold Christmas and once we had decorated with Christmas trees, table decorations and stockings it was truly lovely. There were enough beds for all, although the 'girls room' was a little loud and full of laughter with 3 teenage/20 something occupants! We did make it to Le Torquet boxing day where we were rained off the beach after a brusque stroll but the restaurant nearby made up for it with hot chocolates! so much so that we returned the next day for a delicious lunch of 'Moules et Frites' We all had such a great time we are even talking about re-doing it all again in the summer! Our sincere thanks to Geraldine for such a great stay.

Great family property

This was a return visit for us, five adults and five children, ranging in age from 7 to 70's. The house is very roomy and comfortable and well equipped to cater for that number of guests, and we never felt the need to go too far afield as there is so much to do at the house and in the garden. We did make several trips to the beautiful sandy beach at Merlimont (about half an hours drive away through very pretty countryside) which was great. We also enjoyed a trip to the chocolate factory in Beussent. The well stocked supermarket is conveniently situated about 15 minutes drive away. All agreed it is a great place for a family holiday which suits all ages.

belle maison superbe jardin

nous étions 14 personnes et nous avons passés 5 jours à Wicquinghem dans cette belle maison rustique .Equipement de la cuisine parfait pour ce nombre de personnes.Les chambres bien réparties permettent à chacun de profiter de son espace personnel.Et le jardin est vraiment l'idéal pour nous.Nous avons eu du beau temps et nos ados ont pu profiter du trempoline ,du ping pong et du badmington.Je voudrais attirer l'attention de Géraldine sur le fait qu'il y a certainement une fuite au niveau de la salle de bains du haut car par moments nous avons mis un eau dans la salle à manger pour récolter les gouttes qui venaient du plafond et on voit que les planches ont été mouillées.Voilà pour nous rien que du positif ,le nettoyage laisse un peu à désirer ,un passage en profondeur serait le bienvenu.Mais ceci ne nous a pas empêché de passer un superbe séjour.Dany et sa famille

prachtige tuin

De tuin en het dorpje zijn zeer charmant. Ook de speeltoestellen (trampoline, pingpong, kampvuur, verschillende terrassen, badminton,...) in de tuin zijn een grote troef als je met kinderen op vakantie bent. Het huis zelf is oud en eigenlijk niet echt netjes! (vergeten kleren onder de bedden, veel stof) De badkamers zijn bouwvallig en niet echt comfortabel. Bij mooi weer heb je een prachtig verblijf, maar om binnen te vertoeven zou het grondig moeten gepoetst worden.

Fantastic French Retreat

Fantastic stay in Wicquinhem again! This is our second stay here and once again we loved it. Large and spacious to fit all of us in, lovely roaring fire, large kitchen area and outdoor area, the kids enjoyed the extensive garden and trampoline - it proved perfect for the Easter Egg hunt! We were made very welcome again.

Fantastic place

We have just spent 5 days over Christmas and had an amazing time. The house is ideal for a family holiday with plenty of space. The kitchen is very well equipped and the oven is huge. There is plenty of seating in the lounge with big comfy sofas and an open fire. The garden is a great space and the house is in a rural location but only half an hour from Le Touquet which has a lovely beach. The bedrooms are all a good size and one has a pool table which was a welcome addition. Overall the house is rustic and very welcoming, as was the owner. Would thoroughly recommend.

Great Holiday in Wicquinghem

We were a party of ten (5 adults and 5 children) ages ranging from 6 to 77. The week before our holiday we were given lots of helpful information by the owner Geraldine about the house and the area including instructions on how to get to the property from Calais. We found the house to be very comfortable, spacious and well equipped to cope with up to 14 guests and true to the description given on the website. It has a homely and rustic feel to it. It is set in a large gated garden bordering on woodland and has masses of things to do for all age groups both inside and out of the house. The super sized trampoline was very popular with both the children and adults as was the table tennis and pool tables. There was plenty of room for playing football and badminton and all the necessary sports equipment was provided. the barbecue area is under cover so we were able to have bbqs even when the weather wasn't so good outside. There are plenty of comfortable garden chairs, enough for all. The fire pit in the garden was a nice addition in the evenings too. Inside the house there were lots of board games and puzzles to suit all ages. Both the lounge and the dining room have easy to light fires which we made use of on chillier evenings. Six of our party including the children spent a memorable night in the bell tent in the garden and although it poured with rain all night they were snug and dry. Comfy airbeds were provided along with an electric pump to inflate them. Guests understandably have to provide their own sleeping bags for this activity. 8 bikes (and some safety helmets) are provided and there are some nice bike rides around the local area. The nearest supermarket is a smallish Carrefour about 15 minutes drive away and were were able to get all our supplies and petrol from there. There is a fantastic sandy beach at Merlimont about half an hour away which we visited several times during out stay. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards and is close to lots of little shops, restaurants and bars. There are toilets there and parking is free, which is a bonus. Montreuil is well worth a visit, with its castle, wall walk and shops including a super toy shop. There is a nice little Creperie there down one of the cobbled streets, which we all enjoyed. We also spent an interesting afternoon at the little chocolate factory in Beussant watching the chocolate being made. It was a great holiday and we would highly recommend this property.

Great property & easy to ge to from London

We had a wonderful stay at Geraldine's property. The location was fantastic, rural enough to enjoy the countryside but amenities close by so you could get supplies. It was incredibly easy to get to from London, and took us 3 1/2 hours door to door (aside from a bit of a wait at the eurotunnel). The property has so many games and things you can do that we rarely felt the need to leave. Geraldine gave some great tips about local shops, and weekend markets to visit. The property was clean and well maintained, the kitchen very well stocked, and the property had loads of board games which were put to good use. The bath upstairs ran cold once during the weekend and aside from that minor blip, there were no issues at all with our stay at the house. I would recommend the property to anyone looking for a quick trip over to France for the weekend especially with a big group of people. We could easily have had another 6 people with out group of 6.

Perfect weekend with friends

Before we even arrived Geraldine had given us all the information we needed to know about the house and the local area. The trip down was so easy and were at the house within an hour of leaving Calais. There was enough room for 3 families in the spacious house. The children lived outside on the trampoline, making dens, playing table tennis and involved the parents in several games of rounders. A trip to Le Touquet market stocked us up with good food and wine for a relaxing weekend in the garden during the day and around the fire playing board games in the evening. Highly recommended.

We are two school friends from London, now retired, who decided to join forces in 2003 to buy our apartment off plan because we loved the area. In 2006 it was completed and we've enjoyed some wonderful times, especially the warmth of off season while the UK is still a bit chilly! When the apartment was complete Joanna was working in London as an interior designer so it has been decorated to a high standard and artistically arranged which we are always adding to with locally bought things giving the authentic Spanish feel.
It has been a very successful venture as we, friends and families have enjoyed our stays in Costalita a great deal, getting to know the Costa del Sol and wonderful Andalucia further afield. And most of all enjoying the sunshine.

France -I bought a property in this location because it is easy to get to from London only 3.5 hours door to door using the tunnel.
I love the house and garden.
Pretty village and surroundings.
It is peaceful yet near the coast and fashionable seaside town of Le Touquet.
There are lots of excellent local markets.
lots to do in the area, horse ride, golf, tennis, sand sail, sailing club, kite flying.
There are dedicated cycling routes and good running routes.
I like France the people, restaurants, way of life.
Our village is quite yet near shops and other town.
Three hours drive to Paris, one and a half to Lille, 30 minutes to Bolougne.
