Fine place to stay

The house doesn't look like much from the outside - you might miss it as you drive by - but the owner has invested a lot in updating the inside, and it's a fine place to stay, and only a block from the beautiful Riverwalk.

Needs Work

The location was great, unbfortuantly it did not malke up for the smell of the home nor the shoddy workmanship of the flip. It is clear that this was an older home yet it smelled terrible. No wine opener, no hand towles, and many of the plugs had a decorative face that did not allow one to plug in chargers. The mini blinds were broken.

Wonderful house! (Read the details throughly.)

This was a wonderful stay! My husband and I were in town for the train and found this house to be perfect. It is only a few blocks from the train depot and is across from the cutest mansion (that you can have a lovely tea time at!) This house does not have central air, so do not be fooled by the thermostat on the wall in the living room. The renter has accommodated for this with an industrial fan and little swamp cooler in the room. If this isn’t an issue for you, book your stay at this quiet little house for the weekend! Canon City and its locals are wonderful and kind. We will be back again to enjoy soon.

Royal gourge

Very clean inside has a great fire pit for out door chillin! Walking distance (10 min walk) to local bars and restaurants, very close to Royal gourge attractions, property owner was top notch, got back to me in sufficient time with answers to questions!

Cute cottage with excellent location

Pros: The cottage was very well decorated, and the space was good for our family of four. The fridge was full sized and ice maker worked well, and there were plenty of dishes, pots, pans and utensils. The house was clean and there were plenty of sheets, blankets and pillows. And the bed was very comfortable. There is a nice washer and dryer, and even a little fenced dog run that we used for our two chihuahuas. The location is very close to downtown, the Arkansas river, shopping, and the Royal Gorge. Cons: -The driveway is a little narrow and the street is a bit busy sometimes. -There was a light smoke smell that could have been from previous visitors. Once we were there for a couple of days, it seemed to go away. -We didn't see the wifi information posted where we could locate it. It was on the wifi device by the bar.

Very disappointing

I needed a weekend away due to a traumatic death in the family. My husband wanted to take the train which is why we chose Canon City. Upon arrival at the home the first thing we noticed was the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. I wanted to take a bath but could not. You couldn't stop the water from draining (no drain stopper) without putting a washcloth in the hole, but as soon as we did that the bath filled up with paint chips that had obviously been used to actually paint the bathtub. There was no hair dryer. The salt & pepper shaker and other spices were absolutely filthy. The bed was NOT a queen. It even still had the "full" tag on it. I reached out to VRBO, but received only a cursory email and nothing since then. The owner does not live near the property so he couldn't do anything about anything and what could he do about the bed not being as advertised or the smell of smoke already in there. We had to stand on a bar stool to turn the lights on on the over head fans. Several windows were unlocked in the home when we got there. Owner said he's never had any complaints, but I can't see why he hasn't. The covered patio in the back looked too dangerous to go into and we couldn't use the yard due to the leaves covering every inch. The house is near the train tracks which is not mentioned in the ad but thankfully a train didn't come through during the night, only during the day (loudly). Refrigerator and stove worked nicely and were clean. The house maintained good temperature control. If you're there to visit an inmate this is a good location and house for you as it was mostly clean (not entirely) and the bed is big enough for one person or two small people. If you are trying to have a relaxing weekend away stay elsewhere.
