We spent $1,500+ to stay here, and we ended up leaving after night 1. We told the owner that we were uncomfortable, the place was dirty, obviously had not been cleaned in a very long time. It was dingy with random fixtures, furniture, appliances. The baseboards were so dirty, the vents in the bathroom were quite rusted but also covered in dust. The bathrooms were gross, neither of us used the showers.
A playground is advertised. There was a patch of grass.
There was a maintenance man that lived in the basement, he had a separate entrance however, it was at the kitchen of the house every time he came up & down the stairs he was at our kitchen door, which was very uncomfortable. We could hear everything he was doing. Cooking, coughing constantly, walking up the stairs and going in and outside closing the door A LOT. We struggled to sleep due to both noise and feeling unsafe.
More importantly we are strict nonsmokers and do not want to be anywhere near cigarette smoke. The onsite person that lived in the basement went in and out every 30mins to smoke outside our door.
The description from the homeowner states TWICE nonsmoking property. THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING.
We agreed to a smoke free property as advertised and THIS HOMEOWNER BROKE THAT PROMISE IN THE CONTRACT. We were in constant communication with the homeowner, we informed then that we would be vacating the property, & asked for only a 50% refund on the owner breaking contract. He refused. We left. Very unhappy.
