Vår lägenhet ligger 1/2 timme från Liberia flygplats, mellan livliga Playa del Coco och tyst Ocotal Beach, båda inom gångavstånd. Coco är 1. 7 miles away, Ocotal är mindre än 1 mil. Coco erbjuder shopping, restauranger, nattliv och en stor aktiv strand. Ocotal är en vacker liten gyllene och svart sandstrand med många vattensporter tillgängliga och alles favorit i sandbar / restaurang, Father Rooster's. Andra underbara stränder kan du utforska med bil eller vandra. I området och inom ett par timmars bilresa finns fler möjligheter än du kan föreställa dig att njuta av detta dramatiska landskap och ekologiska mångfald. Provinsen är Guanacaste med två säsonger: Golden och Green. Golden ger konstant sol och högre temperaturer. Grönt kan få regn, men med regelbundna utseenden av solen. (Regnutsikten är ännu mer fotogen än solen!)

Villa La Colina är en väldesignad, relativt liten, låg utveckling (max 2 våningar) med byggnader i tre nivåer. Vårt är på den övre nivån där det bara finns 12 enheter. Det är den tystaste nivån och erbjuder den bästa utsikten över dalen till det outvecklade berget bortom. Och en spektakulär infinitypool ligger bara några steg bort. Fåglar och apor besöker området hela dagen och ger oändlig underhållning.

Vår lägenhet har stora fönster och välvda tak som skapar en mycket öppen plats. Det är på andra våningen och har en privat trappa, så när den är öppen är den privat. Vardagsrummet, matsalen och köket vetter mot poolen och berget. Sovrummen är på baksidan, vid bergssluttningen, med träd bara några meter bort, inga byggnader, vägar eller parkeringsplatser. Sovrummen och framsidan har skärmar, så vindarna flödar genom utrymmena. Luftkonditionering är hela, men många finner inget behov. Det finns en stor balkong, kanske det bästa stället för kaffe och se solen tända upp berget och väcka dalen. Direkt till höger om vår byggnad finns en ranchero med bord, stolar och fläkt för att byta plats eller skydd mot solen.

Dessa lägenheter är fullt möblerade och utrustade och är 860 kvadratmeter. Den har ett sovrum med en dubbelsäng och privat badrum. Det finns ett gäst sovrum och ett andra badrum. Högst 4 gäster är tillåtna. Vardagsrum, matsal och kök är öppna flytande utrymmen.

Två mountainbikes ingår. Användbart för snabba resor till Coco för proviant eller en tur på stigen längs Coco-stranden eller genom barrios.

A perfect 5 out of 5!

We were so very happy we came across Kathy’s rental property, we couldn’t have asked for more. We have visited in this area before but this condo top all others in our minds! We love the views, privacy, the accommodation was excellent, everything we needed was there. The property manager and his team were very friendly and helpful! Any communications we had with Kathy was always followed up with a quick response. We are planning to make a return trip next year! Can’t wait!Deb & Dave

Awesome Quiet Reprieve

The condo was situated at the very top of a steep hill overlooking the infinity pool and hillside. Completely private with beautiful landscaping and palapa below for dining. Monkeys, beautiful birds, iguanas and other creatures were plentiful. A photographers haven! Look out the kitchen window first thing in the morning and you're likely to see monkeys in the tree tops, mamas with babies a tow. Amazing. The condo so well equipped. It was stocked with all the essentials and the extras you don't necessarily think of when travelling. It's obvious that attention to detail was a priority for the hosts, we had everything at our fingertips. Beds were comfortable with higher end linens and plenty of towels. Washer and dryer onsite but we only used the washer - dryer racks were provided for fresh Costa Rican air drying...the best. Tito, the property manager was onsite and met us upon our arrival. He remained available to us throughout our stay but we really didn't require assistance. Any questions I had for Kathy were answered immediately. We are staying in several spots in Ocotal and Coco during our month long stay, and each place has its unique differences and attractions, but so far, La Colina is our fave. One thing to note, we were so thankful to have a golf cart. I can't imagine hiking into town or to the beach and back. We are relatively fit and don't mind a good sweat, but the hills and Costa Rican sun don't mix well. Transportation for us was a must. :)

Amazing view!

We stayed 10 days in the condo and we really enjoyed the view from the balcony and the pool! The condo has the best spot in Villa la Colina as it is at the end, on the second floor, with the woods behind. The only sound you hear is birds and monkeys. We saw several monkeys in the trees behind our bedrooms. The site is very well maintained and the condo was very clean. We enjoyed having a cocktail at the Father Rooster. The communication with Kathy and Tito was easy and quick. We would like to come back in the future!

The pictures on VRBO are very nice, they really represent the place...we were very comfortable, the monkeys came to visit, iguanas and a variety of colorful birds...Ocotal beach at 20 minutes wali and Playa del Coco at 45 minutes...condo very well equipped and located... thank you !

Just as described

Property was just as described. The pool was convenient and nicely maintained. The beach was a short walk, although the condo was up a hill so it was a good hike getting back up the hill. The owners and renters in the upper condo complex were very friendly. I felt a nice sense of community, which was an added bonus. The property manager was very accommodating. The owner was amazing! Very responsive to my every question and offered tips to make our trip run smoothly. I will definitely go back and would recommend to others.

Ideal secure vacation spot

I would highly recommend this property to others. The owner quickly responded to all our questions throughout the stay. The property manager and staff where also very approachable and quick to respond to any of our questions. The condo was very bright, clean and well stocked with dishes and appliances in great working order. The condo has a gorgeous view of the mountains and the infinity pool. It is convenient as it is only minutes from the main street of Coco and within minutes of 3 different beaches. We stayed there for the month of January and would highly recommend this property to others. Thank you Kathy and Tito for all your support in making our vacation a great one!!

We had an amazing time at Ocotal and the apartment. The beach is the best attraction and the condo is a quiet place to rest. We loved how cozy and clean it was and we found everything we needed inside the apartment. Cathy is a great hostess and the manager on the premises is very helpful as well. We look forward to coming there again in the future!

We were happy with our stay from January through March 2019.

The online photos of the condo, pool and grounds are a true representation of the property. The sheets, towels and other household linens, and dishes etc. were in new condition and all the appliances (large and small) were in good working order. We especially appreciated the good quality washer and dryer as well as the efficient and quiet air conditioners and ceiling fans. And finally, we found the beds to be comfortable which is always a big relief. The property location is quiet and provides beautiful surrounding hillside views. During our stay there was a good mix of guests staying at the property ranging from young families to retirement ages. There were no safety concerns whatsoever. We walked to Coco and Ocotal a few times and enjoyed it but for us a car rental was a better option as it gave us the freedom to explore the many surrounding beaches, towns and other areas of Costa Rica. There is a lot to see and do! We left Costa Rica with a happy feeling and agreed we would return sometime in the future and if in the area we would return to this condo.

Beautiful condo with a magical pool

We absolutely loved our stay at Kathy's condo near Ocotal. We arrived late in the evening after a very long day of travel with our two children. Tito, the condo manager, greeted us and helped us with our heavy bags and even helped us order pizza. Later during our stay, he helped us sort out some trouble we were having with our car. He was always there to answer questions and offer recommendations. The condo itself was very comfortable for our family of four and was outfitted with more than the usual rental. The beds were comfortable, lots of extra towels, a fully equipped kitchen (I was even able to bake brownies for my son's birthday), and lots of attention to small details (the driftwood sculptures, brightly colored bowls, clear instructions for every appliance). The condo is in a great location as well, close to Ocotal Beach (we drove because of our small kids but you could easily walk) and away from the hustle of Coco. And the pool was amazing! Overlooking mountains, perfect for kids and adults, and never very crowded. We met some great people there and felt very much at home. We definitely hope to return.

The villa was perfect!! Fully stocked with a view that was out of this world!!

From the super easy rental process at the beginning, everything was superb. Tito met us at the door when we arrived and gave us the keys and the low down of the area, he even gave us a ride to town that evening even with it being after 10pm!! The unit was fully stocked with any and all items that a person could possibly use during their stay. I was there for 55 days and used the kitchen quite regularly and never once was stuck requiring an item that wasn't available in the kitchen. The groundskeepers worked through the scorching heat everyday to try instigate the growth of the vegetation after the long dry season and the grounds always looked great, and absolutely amazing once they were helped with a little bit of rain. Don't let the 'rainy' season scare you away, it only rains for a few hours 5-6 days a week, and most of the time it's during the night or early morning. Still leaving tons of sunny weather for for our enjoyment. Can't wait to go back, Pura Vida!!

Nice condo & property located in a convenient location

We enjoyed our stay at Kathy's condo in the Villas La Colina. The condo is nicely decorated and fronts on a unique and beautiful swimming pool, around which we made many new friends during our weeks-long stay. Kathy is an extremely helpful and attentive host, who took the initiative to communicate regularly both before and during our stay. Playa Ocotal beach is within a 15-20 minute walk and the Playas del Coco beach and downtown are a 30-40 minute walk or 10 minute cab ride away. Playa Ocotal is a lovely, smaller beach which is generally less busy than Coco and other more tourist-oriented towns and beaches. The waters at Ocotal are usually very swimmable with some good rock-reefs offshore, along which ocean-life can be viewed while snorkeling. Downtown Coco has several choices for restaurants, bars, night-life, groceries and recreation. Several of Costa Rica's interesting and exciting attractions are within a 30 minute to 3 hour drive of this location. We would recommend Kathy's condo as an affordable and pleasant home and base for your Northwest Costa Rica get-away. George and Dee Brown Michigan, USA

The weather was very hot. The condo was well equipped and very comfortable

We enjoyed our stay very much. The condo was great. The pool was amazing as it was hot every day. We are close enough to beaches to walk and had some very good meals at restaurants close by.

Beautiful, stunning, awesome, perfect location!

Couldn't ask for a more stunning location. We had everything we needed there, (except a car.) I would highly recommed this location to anyone, but seriously recommend a car rental. It's a great walk to town but far if you just need one or two items. Also if you want to explore the other parts of Costa Rica it would be cheaper and better to have your own vehicle unless you have a fat wallet full of cash to pay someone or do tours. If you're happy with just keeping to yourself and chilling out without the need to explore too much then this is totally the right place! But more adventurous people seriously look into it! -Make sure your Visa insurance covers you and hold your ground-don't fall for the "insurance" issues they may try to convince you that you need. For the most part the people are super super awesome in Costa Rica, but sometimes (incertain business types) they will try to convince you you need more than you really do. In other words DO YOUR RESEARCH thoroughly! Other recommendations are.....bring your own medications if you think you're catching a cold! We picked up a bug on the airplane and buying medicatios was EXPENSIVE!! A simple antihistimine/decongestant was about $1.50 PER PILL! So six pills is $9.00 (U.S.) Doesn't sound like much but if you have a headache too,....ibuprofen is about $1.00 We (two people) needed them both for three weeks, twice a day, until we were clear and could breathe again. That's $210.00 U.S. for basically Advil cold and sinus. Just trying to give you some perspective. Check out Zi Lounge in the downtown between 11 and 7 for happy hour and try the pizza,....yep the pizza DELISH!!! The pasionfruit frozen drinks.....YUM!! The Luperon and Mega Super are your best bets for price when buying groceries go there first-not kidding! If you want some more Canadian/American items the Auto Mercado is pretty good for that, but also double the price-again do your research, it's worth the time. If you don't speak spanish, DO get the google translate app and download the Spanish translator so you can use it offline as well. It is super handy because you can type in, or speak ingredients to find out what they are and also communicate with the locals. Only a very SMALL amount of people speak somewhat good English so take the time to learn basic Spanish, or at the very least download that app. The location of this condo was perfect because it was in the middle of two beaches that you can easily discover and out of town.

Missing Costa Rica already!

Our stay here was just what we needed. We had our 6 month old in tow so we needed some sunshine, pool time and relaxing scenery (and we got it!). The condo size was perfect for our small family and had all of the amenities of home. We did a lot of self-catered cooking (Costa Rica is not inexpensive!) and the kitchen had everything we needed. You are in CR so there will be bugs and geckos but that's part of the adventure. When we arrived after our red-eye flight from Canada we were quickly greeted by the property manager who gave us the lowdown on some of the questions we had. He even took us into town the following day to help us get our bearings! The property is VERY well managed and the staff take much pride in keeping the grounds, landscaping and pool in top shape. Every morning the pool was cleaned of any debris (and critters) that had accumulated overnight! The owner was very quick to offer any help/suggestions to ensure we had the best stay possible. Of all the units in the complex we thought this condo unit was probably one of the best (if not THE best) because it's on the upper floor, at the far end and nearest to the veranda by the pool. The view from the balcony facing the pool and valley was awesome; many early mornings were spent with coffee in hand and just enjoying the sound of the birds. The pool was our favourite (of the 6 or so) in the complex (you can use the other pools which are down the hill and they offer a bit more shading from the sun) but we loved the view of the valley from in the pool. The condo is definitely "on a hill"! The walk is quite steep (however not long - maybe only 60 meters) so if you're not of decent health/fitness ability then it might be a challenge especially in the heat. We enjoyed the exercise and the view/pool is worth the climb! We rented a car for about half of our stay and were happy we did. If you don't have a car a taxi to town is $5 each way - drivers are familiar with the complex and will pick you up at the top if you ask. We also walked into town a few times when it wasn't too hot which was ~35 minutes one way. MUST DOs: Be sure to hike to the 'gringo' beach (~ 30 minutes) from the adjacent property * don't forget a camera as I spotted monkeys, iguana, heron and caracara birds! Borrow the bike and cycle into town and return with fresh fruit... Walk to Ocotal beach (~15 minutes) for sundowners/dinner at Father Roosters! Playa Hermosa for a beach walk. We would stay here again.
