  • 5 Stars for location, 3 stars for the unit itself

"Absolutely love the location of this condo. Stayed in one of the other units two years ago but this is my second time at Villa Ocean Reef. The unit is spacious and comfortable. It is getting a little tired inside but who really hangs out inside on such a beautiful island? The drinking water and towels are plentiful and kitchen is pretty well stocked. Couches are comfortable if you needs to take a short siesta. Love Las Rocas right next door and being able to walk to the "busy" end of the beach then being able to return to the privacy of the of your own beach. West End is about a 40 minute walk and that is a neat little town as well. Snorkeling can be done straight out from the unit or across from Infinity Bay. Just watch for boats when crossing to the reef from the condo. My complaints on this condo are minor but are the same complaints I had four years ago. First, the unit smells VERY musty and I wouldn't be surprised if there is some unseen mold going on in there. Second, the bushes are too high and you can not see the ocean without sitting on top of a very uncomfortable fixed structure wooden table (probably my biggest complaint). Third, the small bathroom can be very dark and a clear shower curtain would be helpful to let the light in. Not to mention, it is a challenge to get your entire body under the shower. Walt Johnson has his name written on everything in that unit so i am assuming he is the owner. Hopefully, he reads the reviews. Bottom line: I would definitely stay here again but might check out one of the other units because of the smell and the view."

  • 25th wedding anniversary get away

"My husband and I stayed at this beautiful property for 1 month. We had 10 straight days of rain and yet we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The east end of Roatan is beginning to feel like home and we are so fortunate to have found this gem."

  • Perfect!

"We had the pleasure of staying for two weeks in St. Mac's Upper unit. Right from the first contact, the owners were wonderful to deal with and always quick to respond to any of my emails. We are a family of five so the bedrooms and layouts were perfect for us. The main living area/kitchen/dining room is huge and the entire unit is very well appointed. The kitchen has everything you need and the blender makes fabulous margaritas! We spent many hours out on the large deck. It was a perfect location, including your very own private beach to enjoy with lots of shade. West Bay was really busy for the first week we were there because of Semana Santa and we felt blessed to enjoy our quiet portion of the beach. The maid and laundry service was exceptional and very much appreciated. I would not hesitate to recommend St. Mac's to all of my friends and family. We hope to enjoy it again very soon!"

  • Best vacation ever!

"Part of me doesn't want to give such a great review but I truly feel I need to. We traveled just after Christmas, my teen son my preteen daughter and husband and we're the kind of travelers that would rather never see another tourist at all. Let me say this place fit us perfect. Phones turned off only electronics we brought were a laptop to do workouts for my son and a jambox to listen to music! We brought our own snorkeling gear but could easily go next door to the reef house to get everything we needed for a low price. Convenience of a well stocked grocery store easily finding EVERY AMERICANIZED name brand need. Also there's a little store the key quicky store just in case u need more bottled water. The house kitchen is as equipped as my own at home! I love to cook! Only thing I found funny missing was a pizza cutter. lol but who but us would eat pizza on an island! George the caretaker and water taxi driver was so nice and accommodating! Offering to help us with anything and everything! Gina the house lady also cooked us up a local meal that was delicious. I cooked almost every other meal and we only ate out twice. I do recommend eating at the reef house next door. Delicious! And Elam (not sure if that's his name) the fisherman - wow - talk about fresh fish! King crab, grouper, snapper and my favorite LOBSTER! Fresh and cleaned and did I mention fresh!! Exactly what these landlocked seafood lovers dreamed about having available. And lastly the view, the water experiences! Everything from seeing puffer fish the size of a large dog to the schools of parrot fish and more! I suggest a visit to the iguana park and ziplining tour that Dave the taxi driver would take you to. So awesome. We spent most of our days in sheer comfort. The breezes with the open doors and windows in the main living area to the extreme comfort and luxury of air conditioning to sleep in. Large rooms and huge bathrooms. Plus ability to wash clothes! It was just as fun to piddle around in the pool out front as it was to go beyond and find the reef literally out the back door to see gorgeous God made entertainment. We didn't even turn the tv on (well maybe 2 times) which had cable (my daughter however loved the kids channels in her room). Books, games, art supplies, I mean this home was I would say better than a home away from home! Dave, Gina, Elam, the reef house people and most especially George helped make this trip an awesome one for my entire family! Thank you!"
