  • Just the right Speed

"If you're looking to unwind, this place is just the right speed (and price)! The sunset is amazing and the location (between West Bay Beach and West End Village) can't be beat. Grabbed a car at the airport, stopped by and grabbed some groceries (at the direction of our lovely hosts, Marlin and Carleen) and slipped effortlessly into the local scene. Dive boat picked us up at the end of the pier and the $3 Water Taxi was a great way to run around once the rum started flowing! The power went out on the island (as it does from time to time in developing worlds), so as long as you're not wound too tight (or forget that this is actually someone's home), you'll love this place (I actually saw giant red Macaws)!"

  • Magnificent property, beautiful setting and great staff.

"Our vacation was perfect. We were able to dive, snorkel and fish while enjoying the beautiful house. Spent a lot of time in pool. Sleeping was uncomfortable at times because there is no AC but lots of fans are provided which made it better. Definitely rent a car and explore the island, it's beautiful. Kevin, Clair and Desiree were the perfect hosts and could answer all questions and provide any assistance needed (including getting a key after locking ourselves out!). Thank you for a lovely experience."

  • Location..Location...Location

"As the title emphasizes, Hobbies is situated at one of the best possible locations on Roatan. Sandy Bay has a beautiful white sand beach fringed by Coconut palms, and mangroves. Extremely important and biodiverse eel grass extends from the beach out to the reef. Snorkeling is superb! Sunsets are too. The grocery stores, shops and airport are about 10 to 15 minutes away. Getting to and from Half Moon Bay and West Beach is very easy and very cheap. And course the icing on the cake are the wonderful hosts John & Sue; and their right hand man, Ronald – okkiee dokiee John picks you up and drops you off at the airport and takes you to the grocery store frequently. If he's busy, taxis are readily available to take you anywhere. John and Sue provide a wealth of information about the island and the local way of life. Their hospitality is not confined to the van or the living quarters above. This is the place to relax, kick back, drink a cold one and tell stories. Comfortable, friendly and it felt familiar and safe. Our unit was well furnished. We did not lack for a thing. We cooked what we caught on our fishing trip with John and Ronald on the grill onsite. Made our evening cocktails and enjoyed the company of the other guests. Ronald took us on a unforgettable snorkel adventure. We spent our last day touring the island with John. In the end we knew we had chosen the best location on Roatan for our long awaited vacation."

  • Another great stay with amazing snorkeling

"This is the second time we have stayed at Marcia's, and the house was great! Marcia gave us some frozen mangos, which made delicious drinks after snorkeling. The snorkeling was amazing, except for one day when the jellyfish were out by the thousands.... We saw a Moray eel, huge stingray, turtle, lion fish, and lots of beautiful coral and tropical fish. Since it was high season, it was not as peaceful and secluded as our last stay ( tour boats going by and local kids racing their boats in the bay on the weekend), but still a comfortable house and amazing snorkeling! We had a great, restful vacation. It is great to have kayaks provided so we can snorkel at our leisure, and we were also able to borrow a spear and fishing pole and even fins, since I lost one od mine our first week in Roatan. Thanks for your great hospitality!"
