  • Fairy tale house

"From the moment we entered La Petite Maison, we were in awe of the charm and touches throughout. We spent four weeks in the Dordogne region of France where we submerged ourselves in the local cuisine and culture. Each day my husband and I would head out for a new adventure and after hours of visiting a nearby castle, cave or town we were always glad to come back to our little house where we could throw open the windows and listen to the people passing by or sit out on the patio and chat with those walking up to the Beynac castle. Everything about our stay was delightful and Vincent provided us with specific recommendation and instruction for the house and area. This was very much appreciated. Martine is a delight and I enjoyed many conversations with her."

  • Lovely property, stunning views, beautiful village

"Lovely property, fantastically located up the path from the Petit Tonnelle Restaurant in the main street. All amenities including excellent kitchen, laundry, beautiful bathrooms, large comfortable bedrooms. We were a party of four so had access to the two main bedrooms only. Balcony off main bedroom provided excellent large covered space with beautiful vista over the Dourdogne Rr., castles and hills beyond. Large comfortable living room, with views over the river , town and valley, excellent wifi. Top property, highly recommended. P.S Don't try to drive up from the Petit Tonnelle. Only approach from the Hotel Bonnet direction with a small car."

  • A wonderful week in the Dordogne

"Five adults spent a heavenly week at Maison d'Etre at the end of September. The house surpassed our expectations; it was comfortable and spacious, with lovely views over the valley. The kitchen is very well equipped. The location was perfect for touring the local caves and castles. The owner's recommendations for restaurants and other local services were helpful. This was a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay."

  • A perfect place to stay in Beynac

"It was our first visit to the Dordogne in June and, despite the weather, we were not disappointed and this was due to the fact that we stayed at Cro Bique and could not have asked for anything better. From our initial enquiry in November 2015, Gabriella/Ofer had promptly responded to all our emails and we were greeted on arrival by Ofer who shared more useful information with us about the house, where to eat, supermarkets, vets and good places to visit etc. We found the house extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean with amazing views across the valley and Gabriella and Ofer had thought of everything and catered for all requirements to make the house feel like home. There were panoramic views across the valley from the decked area at the front of the house and also lots of wildlife. Beynac itself was quite busy and quite congested with cars and it was good to be able to leave the car at home in the evening and walk down to the village for a meal and then slowly stroll back to this peaceful retreat. There was a short cut from the house to the village which took around 7 minutes or a longer more scenic walk along the country lanes which was around 15 minutes. Le Bo bar was good for lunch and a drink and reasonably priced but didn’t serve food in the evening – all the other restaurants in the village were ok for an evening meal but did get quite busy. There was a local Supermarche, Boucherie and Boulangerie about 15 minutes walk from Cro Bique with a larger supermarche (Casino) on the way to Sarlat. Also a small boulangerie in Beynac village. There are lots of great places to visit i.e., Sarlat, Montpazier, La Roque-Gageac, St Cyprien to name but a few. If you require a good Vet we can strongly recommend Dr Thibault de Jongh, Clinique Veterinaire, Sarlat who speaks extremely good English and extremely helpful. This practice is just before the main Casino supermarket on the left hand side coming from Beynac. All in all, we found Cro Bique a perfect base for visiting the Dordogne and our thanks and appreciation to Gabriella and Ofer who ensured that everything was perfect for their guests and even provided a nice welcome pack which also included treats for our dog. Thank you to Gabriella and Ofer and look forward to returning in the future. Paul, Pauline and Archie (Border Terrier). P.S. Apologies for delay in reviewing but our internet has been down."
