  • Wonderful!

"My husband and I stayed at La Maisonette for 1 week and had a fabulous time! The cottage is comfortable and well-decorated and the view of Beynac Chateau outside the front door is incredible. While walking the hill is tough, it was worth it for the view! We had breakfast every morning on the terrace as well as a couple of lunches and dinners. The location is close to many other amazing sites/villages/chateaux but you'll need a car to get to them. We visited the Saturday market in Sarlat and the Thursday market in Domme - fun! Thanks, Ben and Stephanie, for sharing your French home with us!! We want to come back."

  • Beautiful house in an absolute hidden gem in France!!

"The house is simply gorgeous! It has beautiful views of the castle and river and is well laid out if you are staying with a few people as the bedrooms are separated and private. Beynac is simply stunning and the house is in a great location, a quick stroll to the local shops and the river. Ruth was great, very responsive from the start and accomodating! Highly recommend both the house and the town :)"

  • A perfect place to stay in Beynac

"It was our first visit to the Dordogne in June and, despite the weather, we were not disappointed and this was due to the fact that we stayed at Cro Bique and could not have asked for anything better. From our initial enquiry in November 2015, Gabriella/Ofer had promptly responded to all our emails and we were greeted on arrival by Ofer who shared more useful information with us about the house, where to eat, supermarkets, vets and good places to visit etc. We found the house extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean with amazing views across the valley and Gabriella and Ofer had thought of everything and catered for all requirements to make the house feel like home. There were panoramic views across the valley from the decked area at the front of the house and also lots of wildlife. Beynac itself was quite busy and quite congested with cars and it was good to be able to leave the car at home in the evening and walk down to the village for a meal and then slowly stroll back to this peaceful retreat. There was a short cut from the house to the village which took around 7 minutes or a longer more scenic walk along the country lanes which was around 15 minutes. Le Bo bar was good for lunch and a drink and reasonably priced but didn’t serve food in the evening – all the other restaurants in the village were ok for an evening meal but did get quite busy. There was a local Supermarche, Boucherie and Boulangerie about 15 minutes walk from Cro Bique with a larger supermarche (Casino) on the way to Sarlat. Also a small boulangerie in Beynac village. There are lots of great places to visit i.e., Sarlat, Montpazier, La Roque-Gageac, St Cyprien to name but a few. If you require a good Vet we can strongly recommend Dr Thibault de Jongh, Clinique Veterinaire, Sarlat who speaks extremely good English and extremely helpful. This practice is just before the main Casino supermarket on the left hand side coming from Beynac. All in all, we found Cro Bique a perfect base for visiting the Dordogne and our thanks and appreciation to Gabriella and Ofer who ensured that everything was perfect for their guests and even provided a nice welcome pack which also included treats for our dog. Thank you to Gabriella and Ofer and look forward to returning in the future. Paul, Pauline and Archie (Border Terrier). P.S. Apologies for delay in reviewing but our internet has been down."

  • A wonderful week in the Dordogne

"Five adults spent a heavenly week at Maison d'Etre at the end of September. The house surpassed our expectations; it was comfortable and spacious, with lovely views over the valley. The kitchen is very well equipped. The location was perfect for touring the local caves and castles. The owner's recommendations for restaurants and other local services were helpful. This was a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay."
