  • Exquisite home

"When my mother, our 12-year old niece, our son, his wife, my husband, our dog, and I arrived to move into David’s home for 4 days around New Year’s Eve, we were overwhelmed by it. The feel of the home is open, spacious, and elegant. However, most importantly, it feels like a home and not a vacation rental. Having it all on one level also made it easier for my 88-year old mother. It is the best-equipped house I have ever rented--with all of the necessities needed for living there (including a cheese fondue caquelon that David kindly acquired especially for our use) and top-of-the-line appliances. Everything in the home was in exquisite condition. And unlike many vacation rentals that may have everything you need, there is no clutter. The cupboards in the bedrooms are empty and, therefore, available to the renters. Since we were visiting in winter, we were not able to take advantage of the outdoor facilities, but did use the Weber grill and our dog enjoyed sitting outside on the patio after returning from his walks. It was also obvious to us that the garden and pool were cared for in the same loving way as the inside of the home. David, who was away during our stay, was extremely accommodating and made communications and rental procedure easy. He made sure, for instance, that the den was set up as a fourth bedroom for our niece. He also made himself available via email and phone during our stay. However, all went so smoothly that we had no need to communicate with him. Even in the winter, there is plenty to do and see in the area. During our stay the weather was too foggy to make a trip up to the Rochers-de-Naye or Les Pleiades worthwhile. Therefore, we took a trip to Gruyère to see cheese being made and to the Cailler chocolate exhibit in Le Broc, both about a ½-hour drive from the house. On another day we went skating in Vevey at the Patinoire (covered ice rink--open during the winter months). On our last day when the weather still hadn’t improved, we went to the indoor Aquaparc in Le Bouveret, a great hit with our 12-year old niece. On the way home from there, we drove by Château Chillon. Although we didn’t make it to visit the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, it is only a ½-hour drive from the house. Due to the secluded location of the house, a car is a must. We enjoyed 4 memorable days in Amelie and David’s home. We want to thank them for sharing it with us and encourage anyone looking for a place to stay on the Montreux Riviera to consider their home."

  • Awesome Home Base for Swiss Riviera

"This is a very comfortable, cozy apartment with amazing views and everything you really need for your stay on Lake Geneva. Just steps from public transportation, my wife and I (who are over 60) were able to visit Lausanne, Vevey, Rochers de Naye, Castle Chillon, Mt. Pellerin (walk/climb from Vevey Funicular station). Gruyeres, a Riviera cruise, and a stroll thru the old Montreux village all in just 4 and 1/2 days on the ground. I think any more than 3 adults in the apartment would be a little crowded, but would definitely work for family of four with two younger children. Dotti, the landlord, is amazing and was instrumental in helping us plan our itinerary and providing advice on local travel. The Montreux Riviera card, that Dotti arranges for and supplies to her guests, saved us hundreds of dollars on local train, bus, water ferry, and cruise fares. The views from many of the train rides were truly majestic. After our long daily excursions, we ate most of our dinner meals in Montreux restaurants. However, the apartment has ample supplies of pots and pans, and utensils if you prefer to cook your own meals. Restaurant meals are a little pricey in the Lake Geneva area, but you should know that tipping is not required so you save some there. I would wholeheartedly recommend this apartment to anyone interested in visiting the Lake Geneva area."
