  • Beautiful accommodations, great views, and excellent location.

"I was in a group of six who traveled to Montanita to enjoy the sun and surf for four days. After looking for a number of different rentals on VRBO or AirBnB, we stumbled upon Chad's gorgeous penthouse apartment. Montanita is a small town with a strong backpacker vibe, so nice and affordable accommodations are few and far between. While a little more expensive than some other places we were considering, the Penthouse was dramatically better than any other options located in town. The Penthouse is located at the top of the Taino de Sky hotel, allowing it the privacy of a private apartment with the convenience of a hotel. There was always someone on staff to help orient us and breakfast (eggs and rolls) was included everyday. The nice people at the front desk spoke some English and even helped arranged transport for us. The building is clearly in the middle of a redevelopment, so other floors were unfinished. However the lobby and the Penthouse are complete. One very minor nuisance is that the Penthouse is is a walkup located on the fifth floor. It is a bit of a climb to do frequently and you need to bypass some unfinished parts of the building every time you ascend or descend, however the owner is very clear about this in his description. It should not deter you from this wonderful home. The Penthouse itself is airy, spacious, and very modern. It has two large bedrooms (one with an ensuite bathroom) and another bedroom with bunks. There is a beautiful balcony which overlooks the ocean and provides great views. There is A/C units in every bedroom as well as a large unit above a nice flatscreen TV. We struggled to figure out how to turn on the main A/C unit on for a bit until we learned we had to open up the cover to find a hidden power button. Aside from some small stains on the couch, the whole apartment was incredibly clean and well lit. It is obvious it is a very new space that has been well taken care of. We did see some very minor signs of the newness (some wall finishings were painted roughly and the large dining tabletop was not bolted to the table's feet) however in all it was in superb shape. We really enjoyed the location because it was right on the beach and about two blocks from the main nightlife area. This made it convenient yet quieter than other locales. The owner, Chad, was very responsive, helpful, and professional. Given the other offerings available in Montanita, we all thought it was a great deal."

  • Charming, clean, lovely

"This is a quaint, originally artistic, and immaculate place about 80 yards from an immense and glorious beach (100 yards, more or less depending on tides) of fine sand opening to the Pacific. It sits adjacent to the small, peaceful village of Olon, full of food markets of numerous kinds, diverse shops, and very friendly people. After almost a year and a half of traveling throughout the Pacific Islands and elsewhere, I have a soft and special place in my heart for my stay here. it is quite endearing. Help from my hostess on all counts was superb. William B."

  • Even Better Than Expected

"Having rented villas in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America for the last twenty nine years. We know that part of the rental is usually as advertised. Part is not as good as advertised. Paradise Point is 100% as good as, if not better than advertised. It is better than the pictures indicate. The location is great. The owners were prompt and answered all our questions and wants immediately. The Van driver, Luis, speaks English and gives Surfing Lessons. He drove us to Monti Cristi for Panama Hats. A nominal charge, better than a taxi. Long drive, but worth it. They were having a festival. Lots of open air markets with everything from jeans for $5 to caps for $5. None of it made in China, not something americans are used to. Buy boogie boards when you stop at the grocery store near Guayaquil. You won't be sorry when you rent this villa. Kathy is a great cook and Gilson is very helpful when you need anything. In summary, this is one of the very best villas we have had the pleasure of renting. The villa is excellent, as is the staff and all dealings with the owners. First Class."

  • A relaxing home away from home.

"We really enjoyed our stay at Rincon de Olon. The room was clean and comfortable with a ceiling fan as well as an air conditioner. Just a short walk down the street to the beach makes it a very convenient location. It is also very close to the main road in case you are looking to take a taxi or bus to surrounding areas. Also, there are plenty of small shops and a few restaurants nearby. The service provided by Chris, his wife, Victor, and the kitchen staff was great! Chris spoke English (which is kind of rare for Ecuador) and was always very friendly and accommodating. He provided information and suggestions for the area which was very helpful. Breakfast was delicious and consisted of fresh fruit juice, coffee, sliced fruit, eggs, cheese, sliced meats, and a ton of bread (I mean, lots of bread). I would recommend to anyone looking for a relatively quiet (we came around New Years) and relaxing place to stay."
