  • Comfortable, quiet, convenient and well equipped. Highly recommended.

"San Francisco is quite expensive for any type of accommodation. Vivian's studio is modestly priced and it's 30-40 minutes by bus into the city. It's very conveniently located with multiple bus lines within a few minutes walk going to the city, the beach, south or north. Unless you have mobility issues, you won't need a car and you're probably better off without one. The neighborhood is great. It has a nice suburban feel without having to walk far for anything . There's a medium sized supermarket within 5 minutes walk plus plenty of smaller stores, cafes, restaurants, etc nearby. The wonderful Golden Gate park is only 10 minutes walk away. Vivian is a great host; she walked us through the studio showing us where everything was, talked us through her rules (which are very reasonable) and gave us good tips on public transport, cafes, etc. The studio was very clean and looks even nicer than the photos. The kitchen doesn't have an oven or stove. However, with the addition of some microwave safe cooking containers (I left one behind) I was able to cook pasta bolognese for dinner one night and beef tacos another. There is a small toaster oven, a toaster, coffee maker and a kettle (a necessity for making tea!). The fridge is a good size and there is a large water filtering jug which makes the water much nicer for drinking). The bathroom is clean and well appointed with various shampoos, lotions, medicines, etc available that you might need but may not be likely to carry on holidays. The Wi-Fi was reliable and fast - we had 3 phones and 2 tablets, sometimes all running at once and there were no problems. Vivian was happy to print some Alcatraz tour tickets for us that we'd bought online. The double bed is very comfortable and there are plenty of pillows, blankets, etc. We required 3 beds so Vivian provided a double air bed which I found surprisingly comfortable. The lounge folds out into a single bed however the hinge doesn't flatten out completely so there's a bit of a ridge in the middle - some may find this uncomfortable - if I had a choice, I'd use the airbed and leave the lounge upright. The neighborhood and the studio were very peaceful and quiet. There was a bit of noise from upstairs when Vivian's family were getting ready for the day or coming home but it was not intrusive in any way. The outside deck was being re-built while we were there - there was a little bit of noise at times from this but no inconvenience."

  • Phenomenal Place to Stay while visiting the San Francisco Bay

"My family of four had an unparalleled experience during our stay in San Francisco. This was my first time trying VRBO and I can honestly say I am never staying at hotel again, thanks to Taya! Taya was incredible to work with, I contacted her the day before arrival and she responded to my inquiry expeditiously. I hope all owners can live up to her standards - she is the consummate professional. When we arrived, her husband Peter was waiting for us to give us the tour. Peter was awesome and we were truly blown away as the rental has so much to offer, fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, parking garage, laptop, printer, dvd players and the list goes on and on. It really was a home away from home! I'm really glad we didn't stay closer to the downtown as the Richmond District was so quaint. We really enjoyed grabbing a quick bite to eat and Italian Soda's from Cafe Enchante before heading downtown. Also staying in this area aided us in learning our way around the city. We caught on how to get around very quickly. We used public transportation by day and took a cab home at night. We purchased the Clipper transportation cards from Walgreens and we were on our way. A skip, hop and a jump and we were at Geary on the 38 and the bus took us everywhere we needed to go. I couldn't have selected a better location to stay at. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others."

  • Best stay with VRBO ever!

"We are frequent VRBO stayers and rely heavily on reviews, so we were careful on this. Background - we came to SF to be there for our first grandchild and needed a pet friendly place with two bedrooms and close to the Western Addition. We have absolutely no criticism's of the Duck's Nest and the owners. Some of the great (and not all) things we found included: a well prepared / stocked home down to unbelievable detail, everything worked, we had a garage (and parking in front), great access to Golden Gate park, enough room to watch sports events / movies in the living room for (6) plus pets, very comfortable beds, a great laundry room, kitchen and back yard. Finally Lisa, Diana and Rob Duca were great hosts / owners!! It was simply perfect for us! BTW, we had a healthy grandson!"

Plenty of room for family of 4 - 6 people. 2 double beds plus flip out couch in lounge & 2 separate blow up beds as well. Excellent stovetop & oven plus washing machine Safeway is only 10 minutes walk away and had a range of organic & gluten free foods for our daughter.
