  • Exceptional stay!

"We stayed at this villa for 2 nights. I went with my husband and 2 children. The house was very clean & comfortable. Plenty of towels, pillows ect. Beautiful balcony overlooking the pond & fountain. Very close to all. Bar, restaurants, Pool, sauna, & jacuzzi very close walking distance. The owner was very helpful as well. We're definitely looking to come again this summer."

  • Home away from home

"Adorable little house with every amenity! We were a group of 4 women but the house would be perfect for a family with children. Great little sunroom to eat and watch the birds. Easy to reach local attractions. Felt like home. Highly recommend, owner was very responsive and everything was perfect."

  • Ideal for a long week-end getaway

"My husband and I usually stay at an historic inn or a B&B for week-end escapes but this time we decided to try VRBO. I quickly realized most of the search results were for large families or extended families with descriptions of 8-11 bedrooms. For the few that were 1 bedroom rentals, most were lacking in character and had plain white walls and that beige worn out couch condo look. I was about to revert to a B&B site when I came across the listing for Little Wheel cottage. It seemed almost too good to be true but the pictures are indeed accurate. If you are looking for a place that has country charm in a good way, this is it! :) We fell asleep to the sound of the river right outside our bedroom window and in the mornings we enjoyed our coffee on the stone terrace custom built by the little waterfall. One evening before dinner while we were sitting there relaxing, a small raccoon came down from the opposite bank and took a few sips of water. This is the perfect place to decompress and do nothing. There is a tv in the living room but we enjoyed perusing the coffee table books and just vegging out on the comfy armchair and couch and the bed itself had his/her reading lamps. The kitchen and in fact the whole cottage was impeccably clean and the owner, who could not have been nicer, supplied us with beach towels and chairs for the town beach. While we came at the end of the summer, we could see how this would be a wonderful escape anytime of the year, particularly during fall foliage season because of the beautiful mature trees and the woods surrounding the property. As for activities, we loved that Lake Waramaug was within walking distance, although it's best to just drive to it if you plan to spend time at the town beach. There is an entry fee but they let you use their kayaks…a highlight of the week-end! We also like to hike and went to Mt. Tom State Park (Washington). This park had a $14 or $15 entry fee but it also had a nice lake and beach for swimming. Another day we hiked Macedonia State Park (Kent) There was no charge to enter but that could have been b/c it was Labor Day and the season was over. We plan to come back one of these days and would also highly recommend this getaway to friends."

  • Great location!

"Spent the week here in August and the place was perfect for us. We had the choice of crossing the street to a private beach, walking around the corner to the public beach or walking a little further north to a perfect little sandy beach. We had our three small grandchildren with us so the beach and ocean were all we needed to entertain them daily. There are also three restaurants and ice cream shops within walking distance. We had the use of two kayaks and four bikes which were an added bonus to renting this place. The downtown area of Milford is only a short drive away with some nice restaurants. We would definitely rent this place again."
