  • Fantastic !!!

    "Absolutely fantastic place. One bedroom, one bathroom, kitchen, living room and balcony. Well-decorated and well-equipped! The owner has thought every little thing that one might need and stocked up... including ear buds haha. The lagoon is right behind the apartment. There are two turtles which are permanent residents of the lagoon. They are friendly and come to you when you are in the water. Seafood restaurant right in front of the apartment. Our family absolutely loved it here."

  • Best Spot in Hilo

    "This time was as amazing as the first visit. Waves crashing provided the perfect background for a sound sleep. Spotlessly clean, all the appliances you need. Walking distance to town. Won't stay anywhere else."

  • A Cut Above the Rest! 5 Stars +++

    "My wife and I are seniors from South Carolina and on our first trip to Hawaii. We were in Hawaii for seven weeks, staying on three islands and in 4 units over that time, 14 nights here. Please read all of the other reviews, there is just too much good here to get into the allotted spaces! Managed by local owners, everything is better than any of the other units we stayed in. It's extremely clean, the location is on the outskirts of town but convenient, and includes at No Charge a Gas Grill, W & D AND is air conditioned. Plus, not only is there a lagoon at the end of the street, you're just one block from the Onekahakaha Beach Park, a sandy bottom lagoon that is perfect for playing in! Snorkel gear, body boards, water shoes, beach chairs, beach towels etc are all provided by the owners! Claudia was a pleasure to work with plus she stopped in to see if we needed anything when checking the adjoining property for an arrival! There are two wonderful foot stools located in front of the futon, a nice place to rest those legs after a busy day! The hand cut flowers on the table upon arrival made us welcome the moment we walked in. She left a small goody basket of rolls, coffee, creamers etc for the first morning so we didn't need to run out first thing in the AM. They have two other listings on VRBO, the main unit, #781847 and a newly acquired property in Kona that I wish was available when we booked the following two weeks on the Big Island. That is #763340. We've not seen it other than the photos, but if our unit was any indication of the quality of that one I would say you can't go wrong. Mahalo! to Claudia and her husband David."

  • Tropical Paradise

    "Lopaka's Lodge was like 'home away from home'. Bev thought of everything, from coffee and creamer for our first morning after arrival to canvas shopping bags to use for food shopping! The kitchen was very well stocked and the laundry room was fantastic and also fully stocked. Most rentals do not include things like laundry detergent, etc., but Bev's had it all. There were beach towels, sunscreen, umbrellas, the list goes on and on. The lanai was perfect for morning coffee. I especially liked the white rope lights that line the lanai which we turned on every night. They added such atmosphere (along with the coqui frogs serenading us every night)! The location is in a lovely neighborhood, an easy drive to the Volcano National Park which we visited two days and was a highlight of our two weeks. And the Hawaii Botanical Gardens was another highlight--an amazing place. Bev hugged us when we arrived and it felt like we knew her forever! We hope to return someday. Aloha!"
