  • Tropical Paradise

"Lopaka's Lodge was like 'home away from home'. Bev thought of everything, from coffee and creamer for our first morning after arrival to canvas shopping bags to use for food shopping! The kitchen was very well stocked and the laundry room was fantastic and also fully stocked. Most rentals do not include things like laundry detergent, etc., but Bev's had it all. There were beach towels, sunscreen, umbrellas, the list goes on and on. The lanai was perfect for morning coffee. I especially liked the white rope lights that line the lanai which we turned on every night. They added such atmosphere (along with the coqui frogs serenading us every night)! The location is in a lovely neighborhood, an easy drive to the Volcano National Park which we visited two days and was a highlight of our two weeks. And the Hawaii Botanical Gardens was another highlight--an amazing place. Bev hugged us when we arrived and it felt like we knew her forever! We hope to return someday. Aloha!"

  • Great House

"This house was perfect for our five-day stay near Hilo. Centrally located for Hilo, Volcano National Park, and Pahoa. Twenty-minute drive to good grocery store. Kitchen stocked with everything you'd need. New appliances; clean; easy to use everything. Thanks!"

  • Overlooking Hilo Bay

"We spent a week at Hale Alani and enjoyed every minute. The home is a large plantation style home on Hilo Bay. There is a large lani where we spent many hours taking in the view, talking and reading. Whether the sun shines or it rains (which it does in Hilo) sitting on the lani under cover taking in everything is a never to be forgotten experience. If you want to experience old time Hawaii with large rooms and high ceilings, you should stay here. The house is conveniently .located to downtown Hilo as well as a great staring point along the Hamuka'a coast. Three bedrooms easily accommodate six adults. It was a very comfortable stay. The only update I would recommend to Pudding would be to replace the microwave and to install a dishwasher in the kitchen to make it easier for large groups. Otherwise, our stay was almost perfect even though it rained almost every day. Mark Himelstein"
