  • Stream side, tidy, coqui surrounded apartment.

"This VRBO was neat and tidy and well maintained. It actually was better than the pictures portrayed. By looking at the outside of the building I was a little concerned when we drove up, but pleasantly surprised when we stepped in. Comfortable beds, lots of towels and hot water. Great set up on the configuration of the one and a half baths. Nice view out the windows at the stream-side vegetation. Easy walk to downtown for meals. In the kitchen there was no dish soap, no pan to boil water or boil anything in. The lighting in the dinning room and living room was lacking and there was no place to sit and read. No instruction with the TV so it was impossible to figure out even the basics. I sent an email to the owner asking for help with the TV and he never answered my questions. One bar of soap for the bathrooms. The coqui frogs are as loud here as anywhere in Hilo, so if you're not aware of that it could be difficult. I would tell friends about this place as it is reasonably priced. Volcano National Park is defiantly worth exploring."

  • Great house, beautiful location, we loved our stay!

"We loved staying at this house that is tucked in the rainforest but still a few minutes away from town. The house is spacious, plenty of room for us two couples. All of the furniture was comfortable, the house was clean and the kitchen stocked nicely. The lot is large and filled with tropical plants with a waterfall at the back. We like to cook and found the kitchen easy to use and the outdoor grill worked. We appreciated the filtered water. The laundry machines are outside the unit but not a problem to walk a few feet. The house has many windows and sliding doors and they all have screens. We had a lovely breeze in the afternoon. And there is a deck that wraps around two sides of the house. We liked the frogs. The street is quiet otherwise and in a nice residential neighborhood. Boiling Pots Park is just a short walk up the street. We have been to Hilo many times and there is lots to do rain or shine. We were there for two weeks this visit so we had a chance to do many things. We did the hike to see the lava hose and it was amazing. Jackie Reyes has a new restaurant and the food was fabulous. The Liliokulani Japanese Garden is wonderful and we like to have a picnic on Coconut Island. Noemi answered questions promptly. The coffee maker didn’t work one morning. I sent a text and we had a replacement very quickly."

  • Great property for a family gathering

"Loved our stay on the river. The house size was perfect for our 7 adults and the setting was lovely, with great outdoor spaces to enjoy it. Suzy was very welcoming and attentive. We appreciated the box of goodies she brought to help us celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. The interior of the house (carpets and paint) could use a little love and the kitchen could use some serving bowls, but neither of those thing interfered with our good time. The location is walkable to downtown and the farmers market was great."
