  • Great for our two young families!

"We drive the easy 2.5 hours from Chicago and stayed at Phoenix in the Dunes with another family over the Columbus Day weekend. 4 adults and 6 kids under 6. The house was great. There was plenty of room for everyone and enough beds to spare. We like to cook and the kitchen had everything we needed and more...stand mixer, coffee maker, espresso machine (lattes!), massive stock pot, skillets of all sizes, multiple sets of dinner dishes, and on and on. The two story living room with fireplace was really comfortable. Everything about this house is just perfect. We went apple picking at nearby Crane's apple orchard, then avoided that lunch crowd and had a lovely lunch at Saugatuck Brewing Company (conveniently located about halfway between Cranes and Phoenix in the Dunes). Another afternoon, we drove about 8 minutes to the Saugatuck State Park and hiked through the woods to the lake. We also made several short walks from the house to the lake where the kids played on the beach. I definitely recommend this house. For us, the only drawback...and this is being very picky...is that the house is up high with dropoffs all around, which means there's no yard for the kids to go out and play in. Obviously, there is plenty of other awesome outdoor fun to be had though. Also, Elizabeth was really great to work with leading up to our stay and provided all the information we needed to feel comfortable in the house. She was very responsive to all my questions and easy to deal with as far as payment, keys, etc. If you're thinking about staying here, DO IT!"

  • Cute little place

"This was our family's first HomeAway experience. We stayed here with our family of 5. It is definitely an older cottage but has lots of great amenities. Our older 2 girls stayed in the room with the trundle bed. They loved it. They have lots of kitchen gadgets which is nice. Lots of closet space and dressers. Low on the dish soap and trash bags but we made it work. We went in November. The leaves weren't picked up and were pretty thick which made it slippery with the millions trips we had to make back and forth to the car (lots of kids=lots of stuff). We weren't able to enjoy the backyard/deck because of it either but it was also raining much of the weekend. There is no bathtub so just beware of that if you have little ones. We made due, though. It would have been nice to have the fireplace working because it was chilly but it was not a deal breaker. Everything was clean and I'm sure it would be even more wonderful to rent in the warmer months with lots of space for everyone."

  • Lovely Cottage

"We enjoyed our stay at the perfect little cottage, its name sake stating it all! Everything is provided, with thought given to detail when stocking home! Cottage was clean and homey, I especially enjoyed the landscaping and views of water. AC worked great, nice hot water, good water pressure, beds were comfortable. The fireworks were an added bonus our family enjoyed from the living room! This cottage is located within 15 min of about any shopping that can be imagined ( make sure to check out the farmers market and down town shopping...one of a kind) The cottage is also ideally located for outdoor activities...beaches, nature preserves and bike/walking paths are all close and easily accessible. We highly recommend this cottage!"
