  • Wonderful Three Weeks

"We just got back from our 3rd visit to this home. We have already rented for 2018. We love the location (close to the beach and the Forest Preserve) and layout of this house. Our children and grandchildren come for a long weekend and it fits everyone comfortably. The fenced in backyard is a big plus for our dogs. Carol is so easy to work with. Although we never have had any problems, she always checks in to see if everything is OK. Each year we rent, she has done more improvements to this home. We are already looking forward to our next visit."

  • Owners are outstanding

"Unfortunately, we booked this property for early October, not realizing Hurricane Mathew also had plans to visit. The island was evacuating the day before we were to arrive, so clearly our trip was not going to work out. We had booked directly with the owners to avoid the high VRBO fees. But we had chosen no trip insurance, and our rental agreement very clearly said no refunds even for weather. However, the owners contacted us and offered a full refund given the situation. We were not even pressured to move to another weekend, though that option was also given. And they did so enough days in advance and knowing what was coming, that we were able to use our plan a different trip to a whole different location. Unfortunately we cannot comment on the house itself, but as for the owners we can say unequivocally that Jim and Renee are wonderful, trustworthy people, not hesitating to do what they see as right, and putting others ahead of themselves. This will certainly make us look to rent from them the next time we head to HHI."

  • Very suited to our needs

"We had 4 couples, 3 children, and a grandmother. The 6 bedrooms worked out perfectly, 4 master suites, a bunk room, and a room with a daybed. The daybed was located on the first floor and was very convenient for the grandmother. The distance from the beach was comfortable, and we had 2 out of 7 days where we chose to spend at the pool rather than the beach. The bbq grill was convenient. The kitchen was sizable and well furnished with pots, pans, and dishes. We cooked meals every day. We went to lunch one day at Steamer Seafood near Coligny Circle, and were very pleased with the food quality and service. We called ahead and they arranged for a table of 12 for us. There was plenty of space in the gathering areas including the family room and dining room. Some of the minor problems we encountered include broken floor tile in the kitchen, stained rugs in the upstairs bedrooms, and a toilet that had to be flushed by lifting off the lid, as well as a bunch of garbage left by the previous tenants. We awaited garbage day, but the garbage collection did not come. On the subsequent day we called the property managers and the garbage was promptly picked up that afternoon. The hot tub was strange, and its water level persistently dropped during use. Overall a great experience and well recommended."

  • Wonderful House and Great Location

"We stayed at this beautiful house with our kids and grandkids Thanksgiving week. Everyone had a wonderful time indoors and out. The heated pool and spa were big hits with the kids and grandkids and everyone enjoyed the 2 minute walk to the beach and the new Beach Club. We spent several days on the beach and it was nice to get snacks, lunch, and use the restrooms at the Beach Club. We had dinner there two nights as well and it was SO nice to not to have to get it the car to go to dinner. Two other nights we walked to the nearby Plantation Club for dinner at Live Oak. The adults played golf there twice (once at Heron Point and once at Atlantic Dune). The house was perfect for our large group with the adults staying in the 3 bedrooms on one side of the house and the kids in the two bedrooms and family room at the other end of the house. The house was very well equipped and well furnished and it appeared there were a lot of new things. The manager told us that new carpeting had been put in the week prior to our arrival and the carpeting was indeed beautiful and lush. We loved the house and the service so much that we plan to come back for a week in the summer."
