  • Birthday weekend in Vermont

"I was looking for a home that would allow us to celebrate my girlfriend's Birthday and this home provided the perfect venue. It came equipped with 5 bedrooms, 4 of which would allow us and the three other couples full queen beds and three bathrooms. Our original plan was to ski, but the weather was unseasonably warm. The house was within a short distance to Mount Snow, so it's very convenient. It's also within a short distance to nearby restaurants, two markets for groceries, and within 20-30 minutes to Wilmington and Stratton. We planned to go out for dinner on Saturday night. But, my girlfriend was enjoying herself with all of her friends at the house and everyone was so comfortable in the open living room/dining room we decided to order dinner in and enjoyed the fireplace. The dining room came equipped with very large dining room table where we able to have dinner and a brunch the following Sunday. As this was my first rental through VRBO, I wasn't sure how it would work out. But from the point I inquire about the property until after our stay, Chris (the owner) was responsive and very attentive to making our stay in his home a great experience. He provided useful information about the house and the surrounding area, which allowed me to be prepared to enjoy our stay even more. I want to thank him again for making our stay in Vermont a wonderful experience. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a getaway to Vermont!"

  • Fabulous right on the lake!

"We stayed at this well equipped, clean home and had a grand time. The west side of the lake had very little travel on the road making for a nice quite atmosphere. The lake is very quite and also friendly, I struck up quite a few conversations with the locals. The lake water was crystal clear and inviting! The house had plenty of boats to keep us paddling and the ping pong table was also a lot of fun. We were happy to see and hear a family of Loons everyday and also were treated to a pair of barred owls calling back to one another one evening. There was hardly any light pollution which made stargazing terrific. Every night I saw at least three shooting stars. The house is off the beaten path but a short drive away to the little town of Wilmington, were you can find fabulous restaurants, The Anchor or the Roadhouse were our favorites plus lots of gift shopping as well as some really great artists. There are also miles upon miles of hiking trails to wander! I can't say enough how great this house and its location were! I'll be back for sure!"

  • Great Spot and Well-designed House

"We spent a month at this property and it had everything we needed. The listing doesn't include pictures of the kitchen and bedrooms so I wondered a little. The kitchen is spacious and well appointed with things (such as a toaster oven) that aren't in the listing. Lots of dishes, platters, bowls, and glasses--all of a quality and aesthetic that make them nice to use. Lots of windows with great light. Bedrooms fine. (A previous reviewer mentioned there wasn't enough light for reading in the downstairs bedroom. We didn't use both bedrooms upstairs so we just moved a small table and light down and then put it all back at the end of our stay.) Outside deck is a dream with a nice table and four comfortable chairs for hanging out. The owner provides excellent directions for finding the property and the roads (the last ~1.5 miles are dirt and stone) are good. Because the house is part-way up Haystack Mountain, it is cooler by about 5 degrees than Wilmington and about 10 degrees cooler than Brattleboro. During hot summer weather this is a bonus, and the house has 5 ceiling fans which help circulate the clean, low-humidity air that Vermont is known for. As is described, this house sits right next to the 3rd tee of a golf course. This didn't seem intrusive and was actually fun to watch. The only downside is that they manicure the grass at 6 AM; light sleepers might bring ear plugs during the golfing season. A bonus is that the local residents sometimes walk on the golf course in the late evening; the paths are great and the views are stunning. There is so much to do within less than an hour and it was nice to come home to such a well-thought-out and comfy spot. The owners were very responsive and made everything easy."

  • We had a wonderful time at this cabin. Everything was perfect.

"We had a wonderful long weekend at this cabin. The house is full of warmth, and so comfortable. The lake was beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on the porch both morning and evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back. What a lovely place."
