  • Perfect cottage for family hiking trip - Old Rag Mountain

"Our family rented the Tucker'd Out cottage for two nights and found it to be cozy and comfortable with all the amenities we could ask for! The property itself is fabulous - with breathtaking views of Old Rag Mountain and lots of land to explore. We particularly liked the location - very close to the parking lot for Old Rag and not far from White Oak Canyon. The kitchen - which does not have a full oven - was perfect for our needs. We prepared all our meals each day and were surprised to find everything we needed and a few extras we didn't expect - like napkins, salt and pepper, olive oil, zip lock bags and aluminum foil. We certainly appreciated the well-stocked kitchen! We used the charcoal grill one night, which was wonderful. And we enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs. The upstairs living area and bedroom were perfect for the kids! The couches up there are comfy and there is plenty of room for them to sleep. You could comfortably sleep six or more in the house - but with only one bathroom and one dining area, I would not advise more than six. We were surprised when we read the guest book and learned the property has been rented out for several years - You would think it's brand new with the way it is maintained. Everything was in great condition - nothing in need of repair or even looking worn. The linens were fresh and clean, the furniture was in great shape and the whole cottage looked well taken care of. The owners were great to work with - giving me directions and answering questions in advance. Thanks to Peggy's direction, we stopped at Food Lion on Rt 29 on the way to the cottage from Charlottesville for groceries. We have two teenagers and a tween - so a few days without internet or satellite was just what we needed to connect as a family without distractions. We played games and poker (we brought our own but they actually had poker chips and cards) and watched a DVD (there are tons of them at the house!). We wanted to use the corn hole boards and ladder toss but we didn't have time. We would have liked having internet to check the weather and use Google Maps but we managed just fine without that luxury. Thank you for a wonderful spring break. We would love to come back again!"

  • Keep Coming Back!

"This is the 6th time we've stayed at Afton Cottage. The location is perfectly situated for complete privacy yet just a few minutes off the Blue Ridge Parkway, Route 151, I-64, or US 29. The cottage has all of the comforts of home, including quality cookware and a grill. Dick is a fantastic host and is exceptionally responsive if you need him. The best thing about Afton Cottage though is that you are "forced" to drive through some of the most beautiful country in the world to get anywhere!"

  • Comfortable, affordable condo in Wintergreen

"We stayed here over a weekend in May with out dog while we got married because Wintergreen does not have any pet friendly accommodations. Greg hadn't responded to my request after almost the 24 hours so I called the number listed and he quickly got online and approved it. He was very nice and easy to deal with and even sent us well - wishes on our upcoming nuptials. The property is clean, comfortable, and easy to get to. The wifi was a huge plus, as cell service is spotty that high on the mountain. I would definitely stay here again."

  • Good times

"We had a wonderful stay in Wintergreen. There was so much to do in the area and the house was really close to the lodge. The owners gave us a bunch of tips on where to go and what to eat. We were able to do most of what they suggested and had a blast. The only thing we skipped out on was Devil's Backbone. Our kids were too young for the tour. However, Bold Rock allowed little ones and the entire family enjoyed it. It was great the kitchen was well equipped, since we ate most of our meals at the house. We had a great time and we'd gladly go again. Thanks so much for having us!"
