Bodega Bay house description
The Bahia Retreat is a large, modern home located in the South Harbour area of Bodega Bay. Sweeping ocean views from Bodega Head to Pt. Reyes allow fantastic westerly views with amazing sunsets. Situated at the back of a court, the home backs to open space where deer, hare, quail and other birds and animals are often present. The home is also across the street from a trail that is a 1/2 mile walk down to a secluded cove along Bodega Bay.
The South Harbor of Bodega Bay is home to the Links at Bodega Harbor, a highly rated Robert Trent Jones designed course that offers some of the most scenic and challenging rounds in Northern California. The Bluewater Bistro is the excellent restaurant located at the clubhouse, and offers lunch 7 days a week, dinner Thursday through Sunday and breakfast on weekends.
The home features an open 2,700 square foot floor plan with water views from the living room, dining room, all bedrooms, den and kitchen. There are designer touches throughout the home. The kitchen is well equipped, and includes a modern gas stove/convection oven, microwave, blender, Cuisinart, two coffee makers and cooking equipment typically required to cook full meals.
The dining area features a large designer table that seats 8 on chairs and benches, with a 'lazy susan' in the center for serving ease.
A deck off the kitchen and dining areas has a table with seating for four, and additional seats may be added for larger groups. There is a propane barbeque on the deck, and an additional Weber charcoal BBQ available if needed.
The large light-filled living room contains two oversize chairs and a couch, allowing relaxing reading, HDTV television viewing, listening to the stereo system or enjoying the woodburning fireplace. There is also a game table with four chairs. The game table and game chest hold a variety of games including cards, chess, checkers, cribbage, Scrabble, Yahtzee, Monopoly, Tripoly and others. There are DVD/VHS players and a large video library with dozens of selections. A high-power telescope is available to watch boats, marine mammals and wildlife.
The master bedroom is located on the upper floor of the home and looks directly across open space to the ocean. It features a king-sized bed, fireplace, television, walk-in closest, bath with separate jetted tub, two sinks and large shower.
The two additional bedrooms are located downstairs, each with sliding glass doors that open out to the open space at the rear and ocean views. Each has a queen size bed and a television available. These bedrooms share the downstairs full bathroom. The second downstairs bedroom connects to the den, where there is also a convertible sofa that may be converted into a queen size bed.
The den features an HDTV television, DVD and VHS players, wet bar and mini-refrigerator, allowing a separate entertainment area. Along with the convertible sofa, there are two large and comfortable easy chairs. There is also a computer with a Comcast high-speed internet connection and a wifi modem. A five-person hot tub is located just outside the family room, offering incredible views of the Milky Way on clear moonless evenings and the sounds of sea lions and surf.

We had an excellent stay for a week. It is about a 10 minute walk down to the beach, and closer to a 20 minute walk back from the beach, i.e. a bit steep. There were four of us there for golf/baseball game/sightseeing and the location was perfect for what we planned, including the tough Bodega Bay Harbour course right around the corner. It was very quiet and dark at night. Great views out over the ocean and we saw deer and other wildlife on a daily basis, including a matter of feet out the back. The house was well stocked with anything needed for cooking and/or grilling. Plenty of games in the chest and a computer with wifi. Good televisions and a few movies - enough to find something worthwhile watching (including the local flavor captured by The Birds). There are two bedrooms (master with en suite bathroom) and another downstairs. There is then a bed somewhat setoff and a pullout on the very bottom level (so not much privacy between the bed and pullout). But that was not a problem with us with three family members, just something to be aware of if you have a different sort of group staying there. We ate a couple of times just up the road - there is a decent enough mix of nice restaurants (mostly seafood), but also a little Chicago hot dog place we enjoyed (twice). Owner was incredibly easy to deal with (mailed back a phone charger we accidentally left almost immediately) and checking in and out was a breeze (including accommodating a late arrival). What you see is what you get and it was a great stay for all of us.

This house was superb--great location, comfortably furnished and plenty of room for our generational family visit! The views are amazing from every room--we enjoyed the wildlife sightings of deer, rabbits, and even a bobcat! The kitchen held every pan and tool imaginable, and the big table was a favorite gathering spot. The owner has thought of everything--down to a VHS movie of the 1963 classic--The Birds--filmed in Bodega and Bodega Bay. We all enjoyed the family bonding time with old school games like Scrabble and an Etch a Sketch--we tried to keep it a tech-free zone, but did not quite succeed! We are all already planning our next stay at your lovely Bahia Retreat!

Our family loved your home. Everything was clean, plenty of everything in the kitchen to handle the 5 people we also had a fire just about everynight (not something we have the occasion to do here in Pa.) a well stocked movie libary as well . That was our first trip to California, all the information that was given to us for the sight seeing and wine tasting in the area was very helpful as well.

Beautiful House and Setting
Beautiful House and Setting
Gathered with a group of friends for a long weekend for the purposes of wine tasting and seeing the nearby coast. Thoroughly enjoyed this home - the expansive ocean view and setting were wonderful. We cooked in both the kitchen and on the BBQ and found everything well-equipped and in good working order. Furnishings were very comfortable. The hot tub with view was clean and a great place to watch stars at night. One of our party has already booked another stay here, Overall, my highest recommendation.

I was very impressed with the Bodega house. I stayed here for 4 nights with my family (7 people total; ages ranging from 25-75). We were able to cook our own meals; the kitchen has basically anything you can need. The common areas were open and inviting. And the view was amazing. It was great to have a large enough place where most of my family could stay together and the house had enough to offer that everyone was occupied during the day. It is near by some great wineries (we went to Korbel for a great tour, and Paradise Vineyard for great views and a fun self-guided tour). It has a hot tub for relaxing at night and seeing the stars; or for those in the family that didn't want to use the hot tub, they viewed the stars using the telescope. There are some quick fun hikes to get down to the ocean as well. We all enjoyed our stay.

40th Anniversary Get-A-Way
On arrival the home was beautiful. Although there was just the two of us, the home could have handled a group of 6 easily. Plenty of space in the master bedroom, closet, and bathroom. Views were awesome from all rooms of the house. The living room was very comfortable. The weather was a little chilly, so the hot tub was the perfect solution. After staying in other vacation homes, I loved the fact that we could use the garage. The home was peaceful, quiet and very relaxing. We may go again sometime.

Family Gathering - Bahai Retreat
Family Gathering - Bahai Retreat
This house was perfect for our family and extended family. We have two young children and the big open room downstairs was nice - with a queen size bed for us, and a sleeper sofa for our kids. My in-laws loved the master suite upstairs and the big bathtub. We all enjoyed the hot tub on the back patio! We had planned on going out to eat at least one of the three nights we stayed here, but it was so convenient, we ended up making dinner together at the house every night. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and the big dining room table was a nice gathering place. The ocean views were beautiful from every room in the house and we had plenty of deer coming through the yard every morning. The neighborhood was quiet and just far enough away from the harbor and foghorn so as not to be annoying. The owner was very easy to deal with and answered my questions quickly. My deposit was also refunded to my account much faster than I expected. Overall, we had a great time and found the house to be comfortable, with all the amenities we could want.

About the owner: We are long time Bay Area residents who love the ocean.
Why the Owner Chose Bodega Bay:
We purchased this home in Bodega Harbour first and foremost because we love the ocean. There are few places along the California Coast where you can purchase a modern home in a well kept community. Bodega Harbour offers a superb location, convenience to the North Bay cities and easy reach for weekenders in the Bay Area.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house has a reputation as a modern and comfortable place to unwind. Many people who rent spend their time reading, walking beaches and relaxing. Others go inland 20 miles to the wineries and superb eateries of the North Bay, or golfing at the Bodega Harbour course (open to the public). The house has fantastic ocean views from the living and dining rooms and all bedrooms - it is easy to spend the day watching the ocean and the weather.
