This facility is an authentic log cabin built by an East Texas family over 60 years ago. Once we moved it onto our property, we restored it and updated it with modern features - making it a great blend of new and old. The original mortar and logs are still in place, but we added central heat and air, a full kitchen with
accessories, plumbing, Satellite TV, and VCR with a movie library. It has a large front porch that's perfect for relaxing. It's a great place for families, fishermen, or even a couple looking for a cozy escape to get away from it all.
The log cabin is conveniently located in the midlake area near the Highway 147 Bridge, nestled in a peaceful setting surrounded by pine trees. While there is no access to the water, the Cassels-Boykin boat ramp is less than one mile from the cabin. We offer a clean, comfortable, non-smoking environment that makes you want to stay. We offer all of the comforts of home, along with great amenities that you won't find anywhere else around the lake. You'll also get the best fishing tips on the lake from owner/professional tournament angler Jeff Buchanan, who aims to make sure all of our guests are catching fish!

- The Log Cabin has everything you need, including: cozy living room with 2 couches and 2 comfy chairs, TV with remote and Satellite TV, VCR with video library, full kitchen with full-size refrigerator, oven/range/stove and microwave, coffee pot(coffee provided), dishes, eating utensils, & cookware, one double bed in one bedroom, bunk beds in the other bed room, and a queen-size futon in the living room, large front porch/deck with rocking chairs, gas grill, charcoal grill, ample boat parking and boat battery charging capabilities, all bedding, bath towels, boat towels, and toilet paper provided. We also offer wireless high speed internet service for no charge.

- Lake Sam Rayburn offers some of the best bass fishing in the country and hosts world class tournaments year round. Big Sam is the largest lake within the state of Texas. Rayburn also offers great fishing for crappie (many crappie caught are 12-16 inch), white bass, hybrids, bream, and catfish. We have package deals on lodging and guided fishing trips with the best guides on the lake who pick you up right at the front door. The lake is also great for swimming and water sports. We are also located near the Angelina National Forest and Boykin Springs, where you will find incredible hiking trails along beautiful, sandy-bottomed creeks and a swimming facility derived from a natural spring. There are also a variety of great restaurants, antique shops, and historical homes to visit within 30 miles. We look forward to having you come to the lodge and making a new friend at beautiful Lake Sam Rayburn - where the fish are always biting.

$80/night for two people, $20 more for each additional person over two.
Weekly rates available based on group size and duration of stay.
Discount packages available for combined lodging and guided fishing.
Two night minimum required.
Small pets welcomed with a $75 pet fee per animal (must let us know at booking)

Why the Owner Chose Zavalla
We found this old homestead cabin in the woods locally. It was built by a man and his young sons who had just moved from Mississippi to stake their claim in Texas. They stripped the logs by hand and put lots of blood,sweat and tears into its construction. The house sit in the East Texas woods for over 40 years abandoned when we purchased it from the land owner. It was moved onto our property and after much remodeling it is has turned into a favorite to many who love coming to the lake. With all the modern amenities, this cabin is a great way to step back in time and will make a huge addition to your lake experience.
The Unique Benefits of this Log Cabin
Some people come to the cabin just to enjoy the unique experence. But the bass fishing at Lake Sam Rayburn is WORLD CLASS as well as fishing for catfish and crappie. We have great fishing guides that will take you out while you are at the lake and it is a great way to guarentee that you will catch fish. The trees here are gorgous and the air is great for both your body and sole.
