This Kehena Beach sanctuary is a tropical getaway like no other. The perfect mix of lush Hawaiian vegetation, modern amenities, and Bali style décor. From the 2000 pound statue that greets you at the massive antique asian front doors, to the eight foot Balinese Princess waterfall in the white sand courtyard, you immediately realize this is a very special place.

The interior boasts ocean views from almost every room. Antique hand-carved doorways are scattered throughout, along with artifacts from the Philippines and China. After a long day of fun in the sun, sleep the night away on an incredible 150 year old hand-carved Wedding Bed (Cal-King) with 600 count Egyptian cotton bedding... Truly 'Heaven on Earth'.

There's a "Sand Floor" meditation room (which doubles as a kids sand box for the less spiritual). And an indoor hammock room for a quiet reading session. The great room has a 42 inch Plasma with Satellite TV DVD/VHS, a gas fire place, two double futons, and two teak daybeds. There's also a pool table and air hockey game for the kids.

There's a beautiful PRIVATE black bottom pool with sun-deck, a conversation/fire-pit, a three person swing, and a great deck for tanning. Along with a private spa and outdoor shower. There is also a third floor observation deck great for tanning, whale watching and star gazing.

All this and only a 45 second walk to an incredible "Black Sand Beach". We just started taking bookings, and dates are filling up fast... Don't miss out. The pictures just don't do it justice.

  • We just returned from a two week stay here and I miss the house most of all. This place was perfect. It's designed to feel like there are distinct living areas, which is perfect for a couple or large groups. We rent homes often and this is honestly the first one we have ever rented that actually gives forethought to their kitchen ware. Very calming rooms and decor. It was designed with peace in mind. The pool was the highlight. We did laps every morning and swam under the stars with the fireplace roaring. We whale watched from the roof and ate bananas, star fruit and tomatoes from their garden. The location is in a lush part of the Island and it's secluded so you don't feel like you're dealing with traffic and noise. It's quiet and tranquil. You get a feel for what it would be like to live in Hawaii. But it's only a 20 minute drive to Pahoa and there are thermal pools, surfing spots and tidal pools for snorkeling within a 5 minute drive. The ocean is across the street with beach access a simple walk away. They have an annex with beds and a bathroom for extra sleeping quarters. And they've thought of everything that a family would need to entertain themselves - bikes, snorkeling gear, pool table. The manager of the property is nearby and ready to help with any needs you may have. Our decision to book this place made our trip so special. We visited other friends on the Island and they were staying in a posh resort. This place had them beat. If you want a true Hawaiian vacation, this is it.

  • This was our first vacation in 23 years and it had to be special. My husband and I packed up our three kids ages 11, 13, & 15 and flew to the Big Island. The minute we saw the home, we knew we had made the right choice. The home was breath-taking. The owner has spared no expense in providing all the amenities guests could ask for and then some. I should say we were in Hawaii for a wedding. We took turns visiting all of the vacation rentals, from Hilo to Keaau, that family and friends had rented for the week; none compared to our vacation rental. The pool and sauna were great. We spent evenings, sipping pineapple wine, on the observatory deck; while the kids took walks, bicycled, and played in the game room. We have so many wonderful pictures and video. We entertained one evening and everyone was so impressed; they loved the meditation room. The location is quiet and peaceful; away from the bustle. I can't say enough about this home. This home is truly paradise and provided for a vacation my family will never forget.
