Why the Owner Chose Bamboo Bay
We've been visiting Cayman Brac for over 40 years and have made so many dear friends on this 'rock' of an island. Having visited a fair number of other Caribbean islands we've come to realize that the Brac is truly unique as a destination. The isolation of the Caymans has encouraged a self - sufficient population of 'can do' people. There's never been a neighboring island to turn to during hard times. The combination of remaining a British Dependency and the more recent successes in off-shore banking and tourism has resulted in a standard of living that rivals any developed society. Education and civility are taken very seriously.
What really separates Cayman Brac, though, is that it has not been ruined by 'tourism development'... There have never been more than two modest resorts or the large condominium projects that can so spoil a culture. The people of the Brac are pleased to meet you and are glad to make your visit as special as their island home truly is.
The Unique Benefits at this House
This home and property are legend on the island! From the winding driveway (Why wouldn't you just cut it straight?!) to the massive roof beams... and 'so many windows!' When we realized it was time for 'a place of our own' we looked at every option, every property. Finding Seafan Meadows brought home the realization that we'd be hard pressed to better design our second home... and there's nothing even close in existence. Originally designed and built in the late 80's by architect Robert Poyas as his 'dream home,' every attention was made to the details that make it perfect. We took the attitude that since this is first and foremost our home, that we'd go ahead and furnish / equip it with that in mind. The result is that Seafan Meadows offers pleasant surprises everywhere you turn. You'll find everything you need... and more!

We just returned from two weeks at Seafan Meadows and really enjoyed this home...yes...home. We really felt at home in this beautiful three bedroom beach house. Very comfy and a great setting. The view was spectacular and the star gazing at night was absolutely beautiful. It was so relaxing to sit out by the pool and just stare into the sky and look for "falling stars". Yep...saw one! We could have explored for months and never seen all the movies, looked at all the books, played all the games or used all the kitchen tools. Everything was neat and very clean. We travel with another couple each year and the bedroom setup was very nice and private. There are basically two identical master suites on opposite sides of the back of the house each with a huge bathroom. Each bathroom had double sinks and a large open walk in shower. The third bedroom is in the front...again private...and a great set up for kids. These owners make sure that you have all the creature comforts. There is full cable TV with DVR and gaming consoles, a computer in the front bedroom and WiFi throughout the property, MagicJack telephone so you can call home and talk as long as you want. The kitchen is beyond anything we've ever encountered. Two huge refrigerators, gas range and oven, huge microwave and the infamous "spice drawer" filled with great spices. We will definitely be visiting again...thanks!!

We have visited Grand Cayman a number of times – but this was our first trip to the Brac. We loved it so much; we are already in the process of booking next year!! We stayed for two weeks with our two teenagers and two toddlers and all of us fell in love. The property: Amazing location, not a neighbor in sight and nothing but wide Caribbean views from the house. We did a lot of shore snorkeling, enjoyed the kayaks at the house and attempted some shore fishing. There were many characters on the property – curly tail lizards, hermit crabs, birds – the little kids really enjoyed their new friends! The pool was such a nice feature – we used it every day and the sun shade on top is a nice touch. There is plenty of outside seating and there is an outside dinner table which we used many times. The shore is rocky – bring water shoes – but there are other sandy areas to go on the island if you desire. There is also an outside fire pit to grill on and we had some delicious meals from that. The house: From the moment we walked in, we knew this was a very well taken care of home. The space was wonderful, really it has everything you would want and more! The DVD selection was great, the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was very well stocked and with children, we loved having a washer/dryer. Cha-Che even got a pack n play for us – we really appreciated that! One of the items that we used and appreciated the most was the van – this is not normal on the Brac to have a car come with the house and this really helps save money on renting a car. The Island: There are many great places that we checked out on the island… caving, seeing the bluff and the lighthouse are "a must do". Public Beach and the beach in the West End are both sandy where we had fun snorkeling and swimming on the sandy beach. A few of us snorkeled out to the Russian wreck and swam down to touch it – scary, but fun!! The Brac Reef resort was great to eat some meals – we also went to Aunt Shay’s and had some Golden Jerk Chicken (amazing) and a family favorite which satisfied everyone was PoPo Jebb’s pizza where we had pizza followed by some great ice cream (reasonably priced). Everyone is so welcoming. Derwin was GREAT - he picked us up at the airport, took us fishing and lots more. Cha-che was great to work with – so responsive & when you come to her house, you will see she is very organized and puts a lot of time and thought into making this home perfect for you!

Spent a week at SeaFan Meadows in Jan. and it was beautiful. The home was way beyond our expectations. We fished out front, snorkeled and watch beautiful sunsets. Well equipped house which left nothing to be desired. Derwin was very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to coming to the Brac again and staying here

WOW - what a trip! From the time we arrived to the time we departed me and my wife had the time of our life. Derwin was the best! (MAHI MAHI - biggest to date) fishing was unbelievable, from the boat and the backyard. We had fresh fish every evening. The house is wonderful and has everything you need to make your stay more relaxing. We cannot wait to do it again. Thank you Karl and Cha Che for opening your home to us and we look forward to visiting the Brac again. Derwin hope all is well and keep up the good work - you truly make the island a better place. Thanks Chris and Pam

My husband and I just returned from 6 days at Seafan Meadows on Cayman Brac. We were celebratinour 10th Wedding Anniversay ( we are in our mid 50's). We absolutely loved the peace and quiet of the island. The house, pool/patio and the gardens on the property are very beautiful and the ocean view is breath taking. The house is furnished with everything you could possibly need while you are there. I especially enjoyed the artwork that graces the walls of the house. We made good use of the pool and patio, as it was very hot, we did experience some residual effects from the hurricane that was passing through the Caribbean Islands ( thunder and rain storms) but it did not spoil our week. We sat on the patio with our Bloody Marys and watched the sunsets and gazed at the star filled sky at nite. We snorkeled out to the coral reef right off the beach. Derwin picked us up and delivered us back to the airport, he gave suggestions on grocery shopping and offered boat trips to Little Cayman. We got a real kick out of our daily visitors around the pool and patio, loved the "Curytail Lizards" and hermit crabs, they were very entertaining, though we never did see any iguanas or parrots. If you are in need of down time and want peace and quiet in a beautful setting, then Seafan Meadows is the place. Our only disappoinment with Cayman Brac was the lack of fresh seafood, we assumed on on island there would an abundance places to purchase fresh fish. Thanks Karl for letting us celebrate our anniversary in your beautiful home.

We had such a wonderful stay at Seafan Meadows! We had a few friends join us and we decided to get married on the property at sunset! It was picture perfect and so memorable! With some suggestions from Karl, we were able to get a local resort to cater the wedding dinner, make a wedding cake and we enjoyed a firework display after the dinner. It was a day I will always cherish! Thank you for such a wonderful experience. We had a great time diving and snorkeling and kayaking! We found the local fishmonger and really enjoyed the local cuisine! We can't wait to visit again! Sincerely, The Thordsons of Virginia Beach VA

We have just returned from a week at Seafan Meadows and I can't find enough words to describe the time we had: peaceful, serene, magnificent, wonderful, etc. This was our first visit to the Brac, and although we had 3 teenage girls that would have preferred a little more action, the 4 parents enjoyed the laid back, restful week. Thank you Karl and ChaChe for sharing your lovely home with us. Although we didn't get to see Derwin much during the week, we did truly appreciate the time we were able to spend with him. The accomodations were more than nice! The kitchen was just perfect and the few "chefs" we had with us really enjoyed being able to concoct wonderful meals in the gourmet kitchen. We were lucky the weather was beautiful the entire week, with the exception of one really windy day which prohibited the snorkeling. Otherwise, we were able to snorkel right out back and took in the many wonderous sites. Being able to set our own pace during the week made it exactly what we had hoped. Either sitting in the pool, snorkeling around the reef, or adventuring around the island, we had lots of good fun! The most magnificent thing for me, however, was enjoying the sunsets and then watching the stars in the evening and the lightning off shore - we were fortunate on several evenings for nature to provide us our own fireworks show with the lightning and the shooting stars. The most disappointing thing was not seeing an iguana - but it was really, really hot the entire time we were on the island so I'm sure they were enjoying any cool spot they could find. If you are looking for a relaxing piece of paradise, Seafan Meadows is definitely a place to consider! We will be returning in the future!

Karl, Larry and I just returned to a cold, rainy Washington state after two lovely weeks at Seafan Meadows. We had a great time. Your house and property are perfect. Everything - the gravel in the yard, the pool and shades, the BBQ, the beach, all the wonderful stuff in the kitchen, the fans in the bedrooms - it was just very easy to stay and hard to leave. The diving was great - many of the sites are as good or better as those in Little Cayman. Unfortunately, we didn't snorkel much because it was very windy for most of our stay. So we just had to hang around by the pool and beach and read - hmmmm.

My husband and I spent two fantastic weeks at Seafan Meadows May 8th through May 22nd. The house was wonderful, very comfortable, very well stocked with everything we needed, very private. The diving was great - we have dived at Little Cayman for the last ten years, and the diving at Cayman Brac is just as good. Very healthy coral and lots and lots of fish. We were so comfortable in the house that we ate out only once. We will definitely go back. Thanks, Karl, for sharing your house with us. Helen and Larry Buttress

We spent a week in early April at Sea Fan with our 5 and 6 year old boys. The house was comfortable, even luxurious. There were a lot of personal touches which helped it feel like home for a week. Cayman Brac is a wonderful gem of a little island. Friendly people everywhere you go. And there are lots of adventures to be had. Do not miss visiting Great Cave and the southeast shoreline, the sunrise from the lighthouse and the fish at Aunt Sha's. And be sure to have Derwin take you to visit Owen Island.
