This condo is located in the Capitol Hill Historic District within walking distance to all the DC sights such as US Capitol, US Senate, Washington Monument, The White House, Union Station and downtown DC.

This one bedroom, 1 bathroom condo with extra sleeping area in the living room (pull down sofa), offers luxurious accommodation for one person or family of four. Located in the safest neighborhood of Washington DC, Capitol Hill - Historic District, located within walking distance to the National Mall as well as Eastern Market, local landmark. There are numerous grocery stores, restaurants and high end shopping areas within walking distance.

Capitol Hill Historic District takes its name from the hill, which rises in the center of the Federal City and extends eastward. Stretching easterly behind the Capitol Building along wide avenues lies the residential area known as Capitol Hill. Capitol Hill, one of the oldest residential communities in Washington, has grown from a small boarding house community for members of Congress to an area of more than 150 squares embracing a number of separate neighborhoods.

In the early years of the Republic few Congressmen wished to establish permanent residence in the city. Instead, most preferred to live in boarding houses within walking distance of the Capitol. Nothing remains of this community, and the area closest to the Capitol contains the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, and the House and Senate Office buildings.

Capitol Hill is the largest residential historic district in the District of Columbia. Almost every street is composed of row houses of different stylistic varieties and periods forming a continuous wall broken only by street intersections. Side by side exist early 19th century manor houses, Federal townhouses, small frame dwellings, ornate Italianate bracketed houses and the late 19th century press brick row houses with their often whimsical decorative elements combining Richardsonian Romanesque, Queen Anne, and Eastlakian motifs.

Within the Historic District, you will find the most luxurious accommodation in the one of the best areas in Washington DC with many restaurants, cafes and places to shop, including the Eastern Market, the city's largest farmers' market and flea market.

This elegantly furnished one bedroom apartment approximately 1000 sq feet with one bathroom and fully equipped kitchen with a small backyard seating area and off street parking, provides great hotel alternative within walking distance to US Capitol, US Senate, Eastern Market, Union Station and the National Mall.

You will find sleeping for up to four people and enough room to host the entire family, outdoor deck and living room with an eat in kitchen.

Our location is ideal for touring around DC and we are looking forward to hosting you in DC. We are local, so if you have any questions or special request, don't hesitate to e-mail us!

The unit was well located and safe by D.C. standards. This unit is still MANY blocks to the Metro and a significant walk to the US Capitol area. The unit above was occupied the entire time. Not a problem for most of week until the the vacuuming at 10:00 p.m.began. The decor is "ode to Ikea" and in average condition but acceptable for a rental. There was NO water pressure in shower. It was very handy to have a washer and dryer available in the unit. Amazing restaurants in the Eastern Market area. Try the "Sweet Lobby" for macarons and Ted's Bulletin for homemade Pop Tarts.

Owner has upstairs and downstairs apt, we stayed in downstairs apt 10 nights in late April. Furnishings are basic but functional and clean. Mattress and shower were good. Area is lovely especially in Spring. It is a walk to Metro and Capitol Building. Walk to Eastern Market Metro took us about 15 minutes, 20-25 min to Capital. Have to remember once you get to Capitol Building, it's still a walk to wherever you want to go on National Mall. Worked well for us to take Metro home in evening and eat around Eastern Market area, then walk home after sitting a while for dinner. Lots of restaurants and people around Eastern Market. Kate was very prompt at answering all e-mails and questions however we did have a problem with wifi during our stay. This was reported on a Wed night and was still not fixed when we left Monday morning. This really was a problem since we couldn't use Ipad for travel info, couldn't facetime with family or check e-mails very easily. Two cons to consider- the on/off control for A/C and heat are in upstairs apartment. You are dependent on whatever they set it on upstairs. At times we seemed to be able to control the temp in our apt and sometimes not but it was never uncomfortable. The router for both apts is also in the upstairs apt. Owners did try to have upstairs renters reset the router but this did not fix the wifi and nothing further was done.

Pro: unit was as described in a lovely residential neighborhood, about a 20 minute walk to 2 metros. Nice tile shower. Con: You can hear every footstep from the upstairs unit. While we were there, a herd of elephants was upstairs... We arrived after dark, and the outside light was not working. So, it was very difficult to find the lock box, put in code, and use keys in door locks. We immediately reported problem to Jarek, but light was not repaired during our 4 day stay. Also, no DVD in unit. Minor issues: bathroom needs towel bars and would be nice to have a mirror in bedroom.

Fantastic location, comfortable space. Pretty noisy when rental upstairs was occupied, but mostly pretty quiet. Best feature being walking distance to so much.

I loved my stay here. We had one issue with the internet not working so I had to drive over to the Starbucks to send out an important email, but it was fixed later that day. The router just needed to be reset. Jarek was out of town, but I was put in touch with a secondary person, Carlos. He was fantastic. The unit was in a perfect location. We walked all the way to the Lincoln Memorial, but got a cab back :). I highly recommend this place and would stay here again if I return to D.C. Thanks for the great rental!

Our family of four, including 2 boys (12, 14), thoroughly enjoyed 10 nights here. The accommodations were very clean, well-stocked and comfortable. Our boys had no trouble sleeping on the futon. The kitchen, washer/dryer and wifi were particularly helpful to us. Also, because we took some day trips outside of the District, we had a car for the entire trip. Using the off-street parking associated with this unit was arguably the best decision we made when planning our trip! The owners were very responsive to our questions both before and during our stay. As far as nearby attractions, we had a lot of fun at the Eastern Market flea market on a Sunday, including a delicious lunch at the Market. We also frequented Starbucks right across the street from the Eastern Market metro station and Hello Cupcake on 8th street. Two notes: This is an excellent location, without question, but we usually ended up taking a cab back at the end of the day. After walking all day, we just couldn't fathom walking home from the metro stations. Also, being from a quiet, forest living in Colorado, the city noises were something we were not exactly prepared for. Ear plugs helped quite a bit. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it quite highly.

The location was great - nine block walk to the Capitol building, six block walk to metro, Eastern Market, and restaurants, and the neighborhood was homey. It was wonderful to see folks out walking their dogs, strolling with the baby, or going for a jog. Very safe. Bed was comfortable, shower had plenty of hot water, everything was clean, all amenities available (including wi-fi and cable). Stopped at Port City Java several mornings on the way to the Metro - great service and delish coffee. Box Car Tavern had a killer quesadilla with duck confit (no joke). I'm craving it now. Both are on 7th Street right across from Eastern Market. Last but not least, Kate was really helpful prior to arrival, prompt answering questions via email.

My family of 3 visited Washington D.C. for a mini vacation for our Spring Break. The location is convenient to most everything with an approximate 10 minute walk to the Metro at the Eastern Market. We arrived late Sunday evening and reserved a parking spot in back (recommended due to lack of available parking on street). Finding the parking space in back was a little challenging since there is no address numbers on the unit. Getting into the apartment was another challenge since the keys are not labeled and there are 2 different apartment doors in foyer after entering the main door of building. These are really minor issues, easily resolved. Other than that, the apartment was very nice and comfortable and provided everything we needed. My son slept on the futon which was very roomy and comfortable. We spent 3 nights here and would definitely come back!

The one bedroom lower unit was great. It was clean, and roomy for my Dad and I to stay and even the fold down couch was comfortable. As for the location it couldn't of been better. Eastern Market was five blocks, and the Capital Building was just under a mile, all within walking distance. Got in the first night and walked the 15 minutes to Union Station at 10:30pm. The place is great and would stay again!

                  Year Purchased: 2007

About the owner: We are family owned and operated. From the left meet Kate, Jarek (sister and brother) and our mom Dana. We have lived in Washington for over ten years and love this cosmopolitan city where people get up every morning and get to work on changing the world. The most powerful people in DC can alter the course of history and try to make the world a better place. It's a city where philosophical debate and advocacy of issues beyond one's own family or pocketbook rule the day; a city where what's going on in one's head is far more important than what one is wearing; a city where people come from all over the world to experience democracy and learn the principles of our free society. We get visitors from all over the country and the world. Some come for one time visit with their family, others keep coming back number of times a year as we host many repeat guests related to the federal government, foreign embassies and the US State Department. We take great pride in having our unit very clean (our mom cleans it, so you know it’s spotless), conveniently located within walking distance to all shopping, restaurants and Metro. We want you to enjoy your visit whether it is once in a lifetime trip with your family or monthly visit for work. We are looking forward to hosting you in DC and if there is something we can help with, let us know.
