The view from the patio is the BEST. Morning coffee was so special watching the waves, they are so close, it's beautiful. Would highly recommend this condo and hope to come back again ourselves. I liked that it was a small complex. Grounds were nice. The condo's furnishings were good. Good location, we walked twice to town and it took 30 minutes.

My husband and I really enjoyed staying in this condo for a week it is nicely updated and clean and it was wonderful being right by the water and hearing the waves crash on the rocks and to sit on the lania for breakfast and watching the sunset at night. We also saw turtles every morning and some fish and sea life in the pools by the rocks. We went parasailing which was lots of fun an we did the summit stargazing tour on Mauna Kea and the Volcano tour to Mauna Loa. We went to a very nice Thai restaurant called Original Thai the food was excellent. and we also ate at Lava Java.

This is our third time staying in the Kona Riviera complex, but our first time in unit 102. I was very satisfied with the view and the sound of the waves is fantastic. This unit has clear visibility to a tidal pool with turtles, small fish and huge eels! It was fun to watch the variety of sea life. We also made use of the grill in the pool area to cook up some amazing swordfish! Mmmm. As for the accomodations, I found this unit very well stocked down to a screwdriver for eye glass repair (which I needed!). I was pleased that there were sufficient quantities of basic toiletries provided so we didn't have to go buy TP or other things part way through our stay (not all units in Kona Riviera are as well stocked).

Excellent stay at Kona Riviera (2 adults and 1, twelve year old)
Excellent stay at Kona Riviera (2 adults and 1, twelve year old)
We had a wonderful stay at this unit. The furnishings and kitchen were very nice and up to date and the lanai amazing. The pool was right around the corner and was perfect for those hot days. One of my pet peeves is having to buy new condiments and such when renting a condo but this one had lots of things we needed: lots of spices, vinegar, oil, hot chocolate, ketchup, mustard, etc... Our 12 year old had to pull out the bed every night and it was very easy to do. However, since she is a 12 year old girl she had clothes everywhere so next time we are getting a 2 bedroom. This is not a negative for the condo because there is lots of storage in the master bedroom. (our daughter is just going thru the tween phase with many costume changes throughout the day.) The bathroom is very nice with a big shower (no tub). There is no counter space but there is a medicine cabinet and it worked fine for us. Added bonus was a hairdryer. Boogie boards and umbrella too. The grounds and condo were SPOTLESS which is a big must for me. Assigned parking spot was nice as was the security of the place. I HIGHLY recommend this place for couples or a couple with a young child.

Our stay at this condo was 1/11/13 to 1/19/13. We loved it. We sighted whales from the lanai daily... and watching the surfers and boogie boarders was great entertainment as well. The condo is well equipped with everything you need for your stay... the owners kindly provide boogie boards too (which came in handy when snorkeling in some big surf). The bed was comfortable, but provided good support. The island provides so many different activities... beyond swimming in warm ocean water ~ there's the volcano & the crater drive, rain forests with botanical gardens (Hilo area), star gazing at the top of Mona Kea (INCREDIBLE), "riding the rim" at Waipio Valley, kayaking or just relaxing by the spring fed pool. We will definitely come back to this condo!!!

We had learned of this complex- Kona Riviera Villas- through a coworker. We arrived late in the evening and found this unit to be quite the hidden gem. Quiet, except for the sound of the waves, it has most private lanai of all of the other units. You cannot get any closer to the water without being wet! That first evening we went to sleep to the sound of crashing waves. The unit is very well stocked with everything one might need for a stay on the Big Island. We found many pleasant surprises when we opened the bed room closet- 2 body boards, an assortment of sun block and other toiletries, luxurious beach and bath towels and the list goes on. The caretaker of the complex, a fellow named Andy, is very helpful and welcoming. We spent many nights just sitting on the lanai watching the sunset and enjoying the relaxation that Hawaii gives. The unit is clean and confortable. My only critique, and this is because I am a Canadian, was I couldn't get the hockey game on the TV- Magic Sands Beach is two miles away to the south- about a 4 minute drive or 25 minute walk. Downtown Kona the same distance in the opposite direction. The beaches to the North- are all less than an hour away by car. Snorkelling in the front of the complex is risky as the entry into the ocean is rocky. But if you are experienced and the surf is not too high, the coral there is pristine compared to nearby Kahalu'u Snorkel Beach. But be warned the rip in front of the the Complex is strong. If the surf is high you will enjoy watching the locals surf the breaking waves nearby from the Lanai as you sip on your Mai Tai. Tired of cooking and want to treat yourself for a night out- Huggos on the Beach or next door, Huggos on the Rocks for live entertainment and dancing. Breakfast- Bongo Ben's. All these establishments are minutes away from KRV. There is a farmers market across the street and another in Kona proper. Fresh fruit and vegetables abound! If you want a clean place with a killer view in paradise, then this is for you. Oh and one last thing, the owners Cris and Bryan- very professional and helpful to deal with. We'll be coming back real soon. We simply love the place.

Your are on the ocean! Well not quite it was only 6 ft. away. The turtles are within easy site. And the Eels will entertain you. The sound of the waves are perfect. The pool is well kept. The location is a couple of miles from the main part of the town which is not a negiative. Very private setting. You cannot beat the location! The condo is the right size for two. It would be best for adults only. Overall it was very enjoyable. Parking is tight. Recommendation: It is time for a "do over". The appliances needed to be updated and the furnitature needs to be replaced. The place has much potential and needs some help. A couple of more bath towels would be great. We like clean and the cleaning folks need to pick it up a notch. On site person Andrew very helpful. Breakfast at Bongo Ben's, Dinner at Sammy Choys and drinks at the Rock. There is much to see on the Big Island. Rent a vehicle.

Wonderful sound of the surf!!Guest comment entered by manager
Wonderful sound of the surf!!
We had a great time in Kona Riviera Unit #102. The most important attribution of this unit is its proximity to the water. It is literally right on the surf. The lanai is where you want to be - we watched whales, dolphins, turtles, eels, surfers, sailboats, fishing and excursion boats and various birds - all from the comfort of the lanai. The location was great - handy to town - a half-hour walk to nice restaurants. Three miles in the opposite direction provided great snorkeling. To make the unit even better, we'd suggest some shelving in the bath and bedroom. While we were there, new landscaping improvements were made and a new fence was installed. Even with these activities, we enjoyed the private, quiet setting (quiet, except for the wonderful sound of the surf). Having spent two weeks, we would definitely recommend the unit for any visitors who enjoy the water, wildlife and views in a relatively quiet and private setting. Just remember space is limited - more than two occupants is a little tight - and we wouldn't recommend it for more than a family (or very close friends) of more than a total of four. We plan to return!

Pros: great view, clean, good bed, great pool, responsible & friendly manager on site, owners very nice & professional to deal with, one unit away from the pool Cons: OVER PRICED.. Small condo, small lanai, lanai crumbling so tracked in chunks of concrete daily, lack of privacy, little storage [had to set up ironing board in bathroom for toiletries], 22" TV too small [had to go to TV to read scores], few plates so hand-washed daily & no oven ware to cook with, unsecured WiFi [no instructions as to which address to use...had to call owners], no DVD instructions so couldn't use

Manager response: Our condo complex has replaced the concrete coating on the lanai so that the problem this guest describes is no longer an issue. It looks GREAT!! We purchased a small storage cabinet for the bathroom that was also recommended. We replaced the oven ware as well.
What a great place to stay! This condo is as advertised - right on the ocean. The condo is clean, recently updated and well furnished with everything you need to cook (not that we did other than a few breakfasts). This unit is in a small complex and was very quite in the evenings. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking to relax on the Big Island!
