We had a great stay at Marglo's last summer. It was a family get away for us to relax and unwind before school and the football season started The house is extremely clean and very comfortable. There is a great view of the lake from the house. The dock area is nice and we spent evenings on the upper deck watching the sunset and stars come out. Our boys (8 & 15) really enjoyed the place, too. A very quick and easy trip from Dallas. I highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your nice review. We love hearing that young families with children enjoy our place as much as our kids and grandkids do, especially in these busy times. It's great to get out & enjoy the great outdoors. We appreciate your taking the time to write a review & know it helps others such as yourself when looking for a place at the lake. We hope you visit our place again soon. The Ripoll's

A true "lake house" experience

If you are looking for a true lake house experience with a laid back fall weather hangout, this is it! The house is perfect for small groups (it was just 2 adults and 2 kids for us) to get together and truly relax. Whether by the fire pit on the large back patio looking over the water, or fishing on the dock or wine above the dock with even better views, there are many opportunities to be together and outside! The weather was chilly and it was great to have the smell of the fire going, eating smores, taking walks and naps, playing games with our kids, carving pumpkins and just unplugging. All we packed was food (even though there are plenty of choices within close proximity), drinks and clothes and everything else needed was provided by the owners. Going to the lake "offseason" brings a new and more laid back experience when you have kids in tow. No worries about swimsuits, water activities, sunscreen, bugspray and who is swimming where. We will be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much Shean for your review. We look forward to your return visit soon. Hope you & your family have a great holiday. The Ripoll's

Had 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Stayed there for Labor Day. Cute cottage. Extremely clean and well organized. It is true...all you need to bring is your food and clothes! Owners are very helpful. Plenty of room. Loved the deck at the dock. Spent many hours just swimming near the dock when we were not on our boat. Nice homes on either side. Only a couple of issues. 1. Was not able to use the community ramp. The water was too low. Headed over to Don's Marina...only 5 minutes away, launched for $5. 2. The "mooring of the boat" at the dock was a bit difficult to figure out, but we eventually determined how all the various ropes work to keep the boat from slamming into the dock. Do yourself a favor and take notes when the homeowner tells you how it works if you have never done it in the past. The picture in the welcome binder will not totally tell you what you need to know since there is step by step process for "mooring" and "unmooring" a boat.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Grace, thank you so much for your nice review. We're sorry to hear the water level had dropped at the boat ramp that you couldn't launch your boat. Good to know the instructions in the "Welcome" book are not self-explanatory enough & will attempt to change the instructions to be more explicit. These comments are greatly appreciated, which helps us to continue to strive to have the best vacation rental on the lake. Thanks again, Martin & Gloria

We stayed for four nights at Marglo's cottage for a short family getaway with my two teenagers. We absolutely loved the attention to every detail in the cottage. The cottage is absolutely immaculate as shown in the pictures and in a great location on the lake as well. The area on the water in front of the cottage is somewhat protected and is great for water sports and jet skiing since the water is calmer along this area. We took advantage of the nearby boat dock to launch our jet ski and also rented a really nice ski boat for three days at Don's Marina which is just about 10 mins away from Marglo's. The owner's always answered any question that we had very quickly and even took the time to warn us of a possible storm coming in since they knew we had rented a boat and had a jet ski with us. It was simply just a great four days and we are absolutely missing that view. We WILL be back!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Deborah, thank you so much for your complimentary review. We are so pleased you & your family enjoyed the cottage. I know our readers looking for a place to stay on the lake will appreciate your comments about the water in front of the cottage, especially those with boats or jet ski's. We look forward to your return visit. Thanks again, Martin & Gloria

Marglo's cottage is adorable. The decor was fabulous! The nautical and beach theme made me feel as if I was at an exclusive beach front villa...I had to keep looking out of the window to remind myself I was at Cedar Creek Lake! The house was very clean, had everything you needed and was very comfortable. You really feel like its home. I conducted a painstaking search for a place and really appreciated the attention to detail. Most other lake rentals are dark and dingy (with old 1970's crushed velvet bedspreads...eeek!), but Marglo's is bright and cheery and just makes you feel good all over. Hated to leave!!!! Will be a return customer for sure.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Scherri, Thank you for submitting such a nice review. It is nice to know others find the cottage clean & comfortable & appreciate the decor. Your review will certainly help others looking for a trip to the lake. We look forward to your return visit soon. Thanks again, The Ripolls

Delightfully decorated and maintained cottage...the casual beach theme matched our goals for a relaxing visit. This was a short car trip for us so we took groceries though they are certainly available and convenient in the area. Kitchen was well stocked and home is well appointed. Pack only your clothing and pesonal needs and get ready to unwind!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Peggy, thank you so much for your unsolicited review. Comments such as yours certainly makes it easier for those who are looking for a relaxing visit to the lake with their families. It also pleases us to know our guests find as much pleasure at the cottage as we do. Thanks again & we hope you come back again real soon. The Ripoll's

The home was clean, very beautifully decorated and had all amenities. The kitchen was very well stocked although we didn't cook that much. We had a wonderful weekend get away here. The owners were very helpful answering all our questions. It was a very hot and dry time in Texas and Martin was very helpful is advice about where to launch our boat as the lake level was about 4-5 feet below normal levels. The lot is very shaded and the outdoor patio is very nice. Grocery store and eating places are very close by. The only problems we had were the sunroom never did cool down enough for sleeping on the pull out sofa out there and the refrigerator just didn't get cold enough to keep our drinks cold enough. I would definitely recommend Marglo's cottage to my friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Fred & Becky, Thank you so much for submitting a review of MarGlo's Cottage. We appreciate your recommendation for those who might be interested in staying @ the cottage. We are sorry to hear you had problems with the sun room never cooling down enough to sleep comfortably. With Texas hitting record high temperatures over 100 degrees consecutively for over a month, it's been extremely difficult for many houses to cool down especially if people are going in & out often. We're also sorry you had difficulty with the refrigerator and surprised it wasn't working properly as it is a rather new refrigerator. Our cleaning people adjusted the temperature after your departure & our next guests said they had no problems with keeping their food & drinks cold. We're thinking that it might have "frozen up" temporarily during your stay & sincerely regret you encountered any problems at all. We strive to make the cottage as inviting & pleasurable as possible for all our guests and with your constructive comments we will certainly strive even more. Thank you so much & we hope you will come back again in the near future. The Ripoll's

Year Purchased: 1997
Why the Owner Chose Tool:
We bought our place in August 1997 for a peaceful 'getaway' from the stress of working & living in the city. In 2003 we relocated our permanent residence outside of the city and found our new residence to be our permanent 'getaway'. We contemplated selling our lake house, but in 2000 our 1st grandchild was born & has spent so much of his life @ the lake that he would not hear of our selling it. We now have 4 grandchildren & it is now our getaway to enjoy with our children & grandchildren. However, as the grandchildren are becoming more & more involved in sports & other activities, we don't spend as much time @ the lake. So, we decided to place our property on VRBO in January 2009 for others to enjoy as much as we all do. The ones who have rented our place have been very complimentary & we have enjoyed sharing our place with them. It has been a pleasant experience.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
What I enjoy most is getting up early in the morning & going out to the dock to watch the sunrise. It is so peaceful & serene at that time. The birds & wildlife come to life at that time. I also enjoy sitting out on the top deck @ sunset....nothing better than sipping a glass wine & overlooking the beautiful sunsets in the afternoon. The cottage is right on a deep water & wide open cove, great for all water sports. Unlike so many places whenever there is a drought, we have always had good water & never have had any problems getting our boat & pwc's in & out of the water. It is great for swimming & fishing as well. Thanks to our guests, their reviews describe the charm, beauty & fun to be had @ MarGlo's Cottage.
