Pasadena house description

Spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bath 1920s Spanish Revival home with a worldly ambience. View of the San Gabriel Mountains.

Hardwood floors in bedrooms, living and dining rooms. French encaustic tile floors in kitchen and sunroom reminiscent of those in Cuba and Brazil. White hex-tile floors in both bathrooms.

Full kitchen including coffee machine, expresso machine, blender, veggie juicer, citrus juicer, coffee grinder, and microwave. Custom kitchen cabinetry.

Relax in the living room by the Batchelder gas fireplace on winter days.

All three bedrooms have full-sized beds, and towels and sheets are 100% cotton. Sleeps six.

Detached laundry room with washer, dryer, two deep sinks, and sturdy folding table. Solar dryer=clothesline in backyard. Go Green.

Off-street parking for two cars. Private backyard is ideal for outdoor dining and conversation. The front porch is a nice place to lounge with a book and a cup of coffee or wine.

Pasadena is centrally located because we are close to the mountains, the beach, the airport, and downtown LA. We are home to Jackie Robinson, Julia Child, Eve Bunting, and numerous other illustrious scientists, radio personalites, artists, musicians, dancers, and actors. Old Town Pasadena is full of restaurants, cafes, bookstores, and shops including an Apple Store.

There are countless opportunities to enrich and enjoy life here because we are a multicultural city. Read: good music, good food, good dancing and good art.

              Owner info

              Year Purchased: 2001

About the owner: Dear travelers, I'm a retired teacher, avid traveler, and a grandma of twins! I love to study languages, experience cultures, and dance salsa. I speak Spanish, German, and English, and am currently studying Brazilian Portuguese and Swahili.

              Why the Owner Chose Pasadena:
I bought my home in Pasadena because I love Pasadena! It has the feeling of a town, but has the amenities of a cosmopolitan city. The architecture is notable, the trees are stately, and the mountains are quietly majestic. I love the fact that so many cultures are represented in Los Angeles.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Southern California has a Mediterranean climate. Our winters are mild. The sun shines a lot. In the summer, the days are hot, and the nights are cool which is great for sleeping. My house has a cosmopolitan ambience because I seek to create beauty in restoring and adorning the house. The house reflects an international spirit that is welcoming to all. It is minutes away from a hike in the mountains, Old Town, Cal Tech, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the beach, the airport, Huntington Library, coffee houses, restaurants, museums, and numerous venues for live music and dancing. Restaurants abound: Thai Ethiopian, Cuban, Brazilian, Mexican, Korean, Japanese and Chinese because these people are Los Angeles! The Korean spa is a real relaxer. Chinese foot massage, too! The green aspect: there are two Toto low-flush toilets, a compost pile, a clothesline, and a bike. The walls in the master bedroom and kitchen are plastered with American Clay which has no VOCs. I have a peach tree, lemon and pomelo tree, and a baby apricot tree. The neighborhood is full of fruit trees. It is not uncommon to see skunk, raccoon, possum, hawks, parrots, hummingbirds, and wrens. This is what makes my home in Pasadena unique and inviting. It is an urban home with a rural flavor.
